The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G is a 6 nm smartphone platform launched in May 2021. It combines a Kryo 670 CPU, Adreno 642L GPU, Hexagon 770 processor, Spectra 570L image signal processor, and Snapdragon X53 5G modem. Its published specs describe capabilities phone makers can use—not features or performance guaranteed in every handset.

Snapdragon 778G specifications at a glance

Area Qualcomm-listed specification What it means in a phone
Process 6 nm A manufacturing-process designation for the platform, not a direct measure of a phone’s speed or battery life.
CPU 64-bit Kryo 670, up to 2.4 GHz Handles general processing tasks. Clock speed is a maximum specification, not a promise that every core continuously runs at that rate.
GPU Adreno 642L Handles graphics and contributes to game performance. Actual results depend on the phone, its cooling, software, and the game.
AI processor Hexagon 770; 6th-generation Qualcomm AI Engine Provides platform-level AI processing capabilities. Which functions reach users depends on handset software and implementation.
Image signal processor Spectra 570L triple ISP Qualcomm lists support for three concurrent camera streams and HDR10+ capture; these capabilities do not establish the camera configuration or modes of a specific phone.
5G modem Snapdragon X53 modem-RF system Supports 5G technologies, but a particular handset’s bands and carrier compatibility must be checked separately.
Display On-device FHD+ up to 144 Hz; external display up to 4K at 60 Hz These are platform support limits. The phone maker chooses the built-in panel and whether to implement external display output.
Wireless and charging Wi-Fi 6E through FastConnect 6700; Quick Charge 4+ Supported platform technologies, not assurance that every 778G phone includes Wi-Fi 6E or compatible charging hardware.
Graphics APIs OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, Vulkan 1.1 Supported software interfaces for graphics and compute workloads.

These specifications come from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G product page and its Snapdragon 778G product brief. They describe platform ceilings and supported technologies; a phone manufacturer determines the components, settings, and features in an individual model.

What Snapdragon 778G benchmark scores show

There is no single score that describes every Snapdragon 778G phone. Benchmark results can change with handset design, thermal management, memory, software, benchmark version, and testing conditions. These reported figures should therefore be read as results for the stated listing or test, not as a fixed property of the chip.

The listings come from Geekbench’s mobile benchmark pages and Notebookcheck’s Snapdragon 778G benchmark and specifications page. The entries identify different contexts and, for Notebookcheck, a specific Geekbench version. Do not average or directly combine them into a definitive score. For a useful comparison, match the benchmark version and compare results from actual phones, while also considering sustained performance and heat.

How to interpret Qualcomm’s performance claims

In its May 19, 2021 launch announcement, Qualcomm said the Kryo 670 offered “up to 40% uplift in overall CPU performance” and the Adreno 642L was designed for “up to 40% faster graphics rendering” compared with the previous generation. Those are Qualcomm’s vendor-stated, previous-generation comparisons—not an independent test, a guarantee for every phone, or a claim of 40% improvement over any arbitrary competing chip.

The same launch announcement dates the platform to May 2021 and describes its 6 nm process. Read the performance claims in that launch-era context; real-world outcomes depend on the finished handset and workload.

5G, display, camera, and AI capabilities depend on the phone

5G connectivity

Qualcomm’s brief lists the X53 modem-RF system with mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G, standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, FDD and TDD, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing. It gives a peak downlink specification of up to 3.7 Gbps. That is a platform peak, not a measured everyday speed. Do not assume a phone supports every listed band or technology: confirm the exact handset variant and its compatibility with the carrier and region.

Screen and external display

The platform supports on-device FHD+ displays up to 144 Hz and external display output up to 4K at 60 Hz. These figures are not guarantees about a phone’s panel resolution, refresh rate, or output ports; the manufacturer decides what to implement.

Cameras and AI

The Spectra 570L is a triple ISP, and Qualcomm lists three concurrent camera streams and HDR10+ capture. The Hexagon 770 and 6th-generation AI Engine provide platform processing capabilities. Neither specification tells you how many cameras a handset has, what camera modes its software enables, or which AI features the manufacturer includes.

Wi-Fi and charging

FastConnect 6700 supports Wi-Fi 6E, and Qualcomm lists Quick Charge 4+. A phone may omit or limit these capabilities depending on its radio design, charging hardware, and software, so check the individual model’s specifications rather than inferring them from the processor.

Phones that use the Snapdragon 778G

Benchmark databases identify Snapdragon 778G phones including the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, Samsung Galaxy A73, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro, Realme GT Master, Samsung Galaxy M52 5G, Honor 50, and Xiaomi 12 Lite. Model availability, configuration, and regional variants can differ. A processor match alone does not establish a phone’s current price, condition, stock, software-support status, or carrier compatibility.

Before choosing a used or older 778G handset, verify the exact model and SKU, supported carrier bands, software-support status, physical condition, and price. The chip’s specifications cannot answer those device-specific questions.

Is the Snapdragon 778G good for gaming or still worth considering?

The Adreno 642L and the platform’s listed graphics API support make the 778G a graphics-capable mobile platform, but the specs alone do not establish frame rates or sustained gaming performance for a particular title. Phone cooling, game settings, software, and the device’s condition matter. Compare tests from the exact handset and game where available, and look for sustained results rather than relying on a brief peak score.

Because the platform launched in 2021, assess a phone built around it as an older device: weigh its current condition, remaining software support, network fit, and price. No conclusion about those factors follows from the SoC alone.

How to compare the Snapdragon 778G with another chip or phone

  • Match the benchmark name and version, and distinguish single-core from multi-core CPU results.
  • Compare graphics performance in the games or GPU tests relevant to your use, not just a CPU score.
  • Consider heat and sustained performance; short tests may not reflect longer gaming sessions.
  • Check 5G bands and carrier support for the exact phone variant.
  • Compare the camera and display features actually implemented by each manufacturer, rather than platform maximums.
  • For a purchase, compare handset age, software support, condition, and price alongside processor performance.
