That points to a stronger multi-core result for the Dimensity entry in those records, not a guaranteed win in every phone: the figures are not from a documented, matched chipset-only test, and phone cooling, software, memory, and power settings affect performance.
Quick comparison
| Area | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 | Dimensity 8500 Extreme comparison entry |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| CPU listing | One Cortex-X4 up to 2.8 GHz, four Cortex-A720 up to 2.6 GHz, and three Cortex-A520 up to 1.9 GHz, according to 91mobiles | Eight Cortex-A725 cores: one up to 3.4 GHz, three up to 3.2 GHz, and four up to 2.2 GHz, according to 91mobiles |
| GPU listing | Adreno 732, according to 91mobiles | Mali-G720 MP8, according to 91mobiles |
| Memory and storage listing | LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0, according to 91mobiles | LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1, according to 91mobiles |
| Connectivity highlights | Qualcomm lists an X63 5G modem-RF system and Wi-Fi 7 support with FastConnect 7800 | 91mobiles lists 5G and Wi-Fi 6E |
These are platform and comparison-page specifications, not a guarantee that every phone implements every capability. Qualcomm’s product page describes the Snapdragon platform, while MediaTek’s product and announcement materials use the name Dimensity 8500. The sources consulted do not establish “Dimensity 8500 Extreme” as a separate official chip variant. MediaTek’s GPU is described as Mali-G720 MC8 in the cited explainer, while 91mobiles uses MP8; those labels should not be treated as a confirmed naming match.

What the benchmark comparison says
91mobiles’ comparison page, accessed in October 2026, reports these scores. They are source-reported results associated with device records, not controlled proof that one chipset is faster under identical conditions.
| Benchmark | Dimensity 8500 Extreme entry | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu overall | 2,217,003 | 1,450,949 |
| AnTuTu CPU | 674,234 | 376,759 |
| AnTuTu GPU | 681,406 | 489,792 |
| AnTuTu memory | 379,554 | 335,562 |
| AnTuTu UX | 481,809 | 248,836 |
| Geekbench single-core | 1,759 | 1,826 |
| Geekbench multi-core | 7,054 | 4,544 |
The reported figures favor the Dimensity entry in AnTuTu overall and all four listed AnTuTu sub-scores, as well as Geekbench multi-core. Snapdragon leads the listed Geekbench single-core result by 67 points. The comparison page associates the Dimensity Geekbench records with Motorola Edge 70 Pro models; it does not establish equal phones, benchmark versions, software, memory, cooling, or performance settings for a chipset-only comparison. Scores should therefore be read as results reported for those records, not as a promise about every device.

Which chip is better for gaming?
The available scores do not settle sustained gaming performance. Although the Dimensity entry posts the higher reported AnTuTu GPU score, the cited comparison does not provide matched game tests, frame-rate data, heat measurements, or long-session results. A phone’s cooling system, performance mode, display resolution, and software tuning can change how it behaves in demanding games.
Qualcomm highlights selected Snapdragon Elite Gaming features for the 7+ Gen 3, but these are platform capabilities, not a guarantee that every phone exposes every feature in the same way. For a gaming decision, look for tests of the exact phone models playing the same games for comparable periods, including sustained frame rates and temperatures.

Connectivity, cameras, and platform features
Wireless connectivity
Qualcomm lists an X63 5G modem-RF system and Wi-Fi 7 support through FastConnect 7800 for Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The 91mobiles comparison lists 5G and Wi-Fi 6E for the Dimensity entry. Chip-level support does not ensure a particular phone includes or enables every radio feature: regional network bands, antenna design, carrier support, and the phone’s Wi-Fi hardware matter.

Qualcomm highlights an 18-bit cognitive ISP and on-device generative AI support for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. These are vendor-described platform features; the resulting camera modes and AI functions depend on the phone maker’s hardware and software. The comparison evidence does not provide a matched camera or AI workload test between phones using the two chips.

What Qualcomm’s performance claims mean
In its March 21, 2024 launch announcement, Qualcomm claimed a 15% CPU performance boost and a 45% GPU improvement for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 against the comparison basis implied by that announcement. These are Qualcomm’s vendor claims, not independent head-to-head results against the Dimensity 8500. Qualcomm’s product page also lists a maximum CPU clock speed of up to 2.8 GHz; 91mobiles lists the Dimensity comparison entry’s top Cortex-A725 core at up to 3.4 GHz. Clock speed by itself does not determine real-world speed.
