Both are listed on a 4 nm process. Third-party benchmark pages also lean toward Gen 4, but their limited samples and differing test conditions do not prove how two finished phones will compare.
How the specifications compare
| Specification | Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 | Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm | The listed process is the same; it does not establish equal power use in phones. |
| CPU | Two performance cores up to 2 GHz and six efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz | Up to 2.3 GHz; a third-party specification page attributes a 2+6 Cortex-A78/A55 layout | Gen 4 has the higher listed peak clock. Sustained speed also depends on each phone’s power limits and cooling. |
| Memory | LPDDR4x, up to 2133 MHz | LPDDR5; Qualcomm describes support up to 3.2 GHz | Gen 4 supports a newer, faster memory class. The phone maker determines the actual memory configuration. |
| Graphics | Qualcomm lists an Adreno GPU; third-party pages identify it as Adreno 611 | Qualcomm lists an Adreno GPU; third-party pages identify it as Adreno 613 | Qualcomm’s cited pages do not specify the GPU model, and model names alone do not establish a gaming-performance gain. |
| Peak 5G download | Up to 1 Gbps | Up to 2.5 Gbps | These are platform maxima, not expected everyday speeds; phone support, bands, carrier and coverage matter. |
| Wi-Fi and Bluetooth | Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.1 | Wi-Fi 5; Bluetooth 5.1 | No difference is established in the cited specifications. |
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 product brief and Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 product page are the primary sources for the platform specifications. A shared 4 nm label does not, by itself, predict battery life: that depends on the complete phone and how it is used.

What the benchmark results show
The available third-party figures generally favor Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, but they are not results from a controlled, same-phone comparison. Benchmark version, handset, software, temperature and sample size can all affect scores. Treat them as a directional signal, not a reliable prediction of the gap between two phones.

91Mobiles reports AnTuTu 381,047 for the 4s Gen 2. For Gen 4, the page gives 622,466 in its lead text and 626,958 in its summary, so its displayed total is inconsistent. Its Geekbench single-core and multi-core figures are 840 and 1,963 for the 4s Gen 2, versus 955 and 2,333 for Gen 4. These are figures reported by 91Mobiles, not Qualcomm specifications or independent lab results.

NanoReview results
NanoReview reports AnTuTu 11 totals of 506,757 for the 4s Gen 2 and 593,849 for Gen 4. Its Geekbench 6 single-core/multi-core scores are 838/1,899 and 952/2,328, respectively. NanoReview describes the comparison as based on only two 4s Gen 2 AnTuTu tests and fewer than three Gen 4 tests; it also reports fewer than three Geekbench samples and no recent user test results for Gen 4. These limited samples make the results suggestive rather than conclusive.
The AnTuTu figures from the two sites should not be combined into one ranking: they report different benchmark versions and test data. For the same reason, a score difference does not translate directly into a percentage improvement in everyday responsiveness or gaming.
What the differences mean in everyday use
CPU and sustained performance
The higher advertised CPU peak gives Gen 4 an advantage on paper, but peak clock speed is not a promise that a phone will run at that speed continuously. Cooling design and manufacturer power settings shape performance during longer workloads, such as gaming or recording video.

Memory and graphics
LPDDR5 support gives Gen 4 the stronger memory specification. A handset’s installed memory configuration still matters, and the available GPU identifiers do not establish a dependable gaming uplift. Look for tests of the specific phone if gaming performance is important.
5G connectivity
Qualcomm’s published peak downlink maximum is higher for Gen 4, but it is a theoretical platform figure. Actual connection speed and availability depend on the phone’s supported bands, the carrier, local coverage and network conditions. The cited specifications list Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 for both chips.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which chip should you choose?
If you are comparing chip specifications alone, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is the stronger choice: it has the higher published CPU peak, LPDDR5 support and a higher theoretical 5G download maximum. The evidence does not establish a universal performance, battery-life or gaming advantage in finished phones.

Choose between actual handset models, not chip names alone. Compare:
- Sustained performance and temperature under the same workload, if comparable tests are available.
- Battery endurance under similar screen and network conditions.
- 5G bands supported by the phone and compatibility with your carrier.
- Display resolution and refresh rate, camera hardware and software, and RAM and storage configuration.
For context, Qualcomm named Xiaomi as an initial Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 OEM in its July 30, 2024 announcement. A phone listed as using that chip is an example of a device built around the platform, not evidence that every regional version has identical specifications. The cited sources do not establish a balanced, controlled handset-to-handset test for the two processors.
