Smeg publishes a detailed feature set; the available evidence here is manufacturer specifications, not independent hands-on testing, so this review explains what the listed features mean without claiming how the hob performs in a kitchen.
What the Smeg SIM1644DG offers
Smeg identifies the SIM1644DG as a Linea induction hob in Neptune Grey, with an Eclipse ceramic-glass finish and Evo Slider controls. It has four induction zones and nine power levels. Smeg lists each individual zone at 2.10 kW, with a 2.50 kW booster.

Each MultiZone area combines two adjacent zones. Smeg describes the feature as expanding the cooking area to suit different pan shapes and sizes. The published dimensions for each paired area are 38.5 × 23.0 cm, with a booster rating of up to 3.70 kW. These figures describe the listed cooking area and power; they do not establish heating uniformity with particular cookware.
#1 Best Overall
- Powerful 1800W Boost Cooking — Heats fast and efficiently with 9 power levels and a “boost” mode to boil water or sauté in seconds.
- Premium Design in SMEG Collezione Style — Sleek Italian aesthetics (matte black ceramic glass + brushed aluminum panel) that elevate your countertop as well as your cooking.
- Compact, Lightweight & Travel-Ready — Only ~7.4 lbs and ~2.1″ slim — ideal for RVs, travel, small apartments, or outdoor kitchens where space matters.
- Versatile Pot Compatibility — Accepts induction-compatible cookware from 5″ to 10″ in diameter — works with most pans you already own.
- Integrated Temperature Probe (104–210 °F) — Clip-on metal probe with silicone handle built in — perfect for sous vide, sauces, candy, delicate proteins.
For a buyer, the practical appeal is the option to use a larger or differently shaped pan across a paired area rather than relying only on four separate circular zones. Check that the cookware you intend to use is suitable for induction and fits the available area.
Power limiting and energy-label figures
Smeg lists Eco-logic Advance power limiting, adjustable from 2,400 W to 7,400 W in 100 W steps in its technical specifications. Its descriptive product page separately says the feature can limit absorption from 11.1 kW down to 1.4 kW. These are two manufacturer statements presented in different contexts; do not assume they describe the same selectable settings. Ask the installer to confirm the applicable limit and setup instructions in the current manual.

These are manufacturer-listed label values, not an estimate of household energy bills or an independent comparison with other hobs. See the Smeg UK SIM1644DG specifications.

Designed for large-volume usage, it is ideal for commercial and professional settings such as restaurants, industrial kitchens, and other catering services.
- EASY TO CONTROL & CLEAN - The control buttons with solid tactile response make operation intuitive and precise. With simple and clear display, the Key-Press-Control Panel provides clear visibility and easy control, even with gloves or wet hands. With no open flame or heating element, food does not burn onto the glass cooktop, making it easy to clean greasy dirt.
Controls, safety and convenience functions
Smeg lists automatic pan detection for pans with a minimum diameter of 9 cm, a residual-heat indicator, pause, child lock, keep-warm, timers and automatic switch-off. It also lists overheat and overflow shutoff. These are manufacturer-specified functions; they should not be treated as a guarantee against burns, spills or accidents. Follow the manual’s operating and safety instructions.
Auto-Vent 2.0 and optional accessories
Hood connectivity
Auto-Vent 2.0 allows the hob to connect by Bluetooth to an extractor hood equipped with the same system. Smeg says the hood adjusts automatically in response to hob use and settings. Compatibility depends on the exact hood; the feature does not mean an extractor hood is included. Confirm compatibility for the specific hood and region before purchase.

- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Grill plates and scraper
Smeg lists GRILLPLATE, TPKPLATE and SCRP as optional accessories. Product information describes GRILLPLATE as a knurled grill and TPKPLATE as a smooth grill or teppanyaki plate in some regional material; SCRP is a hob scraper. Smeg says the grill function requires GRILLPLATE or TPKPLATE and that the grill function needs two minutes of preheating. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independently timed or tested results. Check the regional part number and confirm that the accessory listing fits the SIM1644DG before buying.
Warranty, price and availability depend on location
Smeg’s general page says a minimum statutory warranty of two years applies to goods sold within the European Union. Separately, Smeg UK says this appliance qualifies for a five-year warranty assistance package covering parts and labour, subject to its terms and redemption details. The UK offer should not be assumed to apply elsewhere; check the current local terms and seller conditions.
Price and stock also vary by market. Confirm current local availability and pricing with Smeg or a regional retailer rather than relying on a price or availability statement from another country.
Who should consider the SIM1644DG?
The specification is most relevant to buyers who want four induction zones with two paired flexible areas and who can accommodate a built-in hob with the specified cut-out and electrical requirements. Buyers interested in synchronized ventilation should verify that their chosen hood supports Auto-Vent 2.0. Those replacing an existing hob should establish fit and supply compatibility before making a purchase decision.
There is not enough independent performance or verified owner-review evidence here to judge heating behavior, noise, day-to-day control feel or long-term reliability. Treat the feature list as a statement of what Smeg specifies, and use installation confirmation and local warranty terms to resolve the most consequential buying questions.
