The Australian Smeg SI2641DAU is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop rated at 2.8 kW with a 15A plug. It may suit a gas-hob replacement, but that does not guarantee it will fit your existing opening or work with your particular circuit: check the cut-out, installation style and electrical supply before buying.
Will the Smeg SI2641DAU fit your cut-out?
Smeg specifies a cooktop body measuring 600 × 510 × 56 mm and a standard cut-out measuring 555–560 mm wide by 478–482 mm deep. Compare the cut-out dimensions—not just the old cooktop’s external width—with your benchtop opening.

| Measurement | SI2641DAU specification |
|---|---|
| Appliance body | 600 × 510 × 56 mm |
| Cut-out | 555–560 mm wide × 478–482 mm deep |
The product is described as suitable for possible gas-hob replacement, and Smeg lists both top-mount and fully flushed installation. Neither claim means every existing gas or ceramic cut-out will work. Confirm the opening, benchtop and installation requirements with the installer before ordering. The Australian SI2641DAU is listed with a 15A plug and a whole-appliance electrical rating of 2.8 kW. That is the key figure to compare with your existing supply. Do not assume an existing 15A connection is suitable just because the plug rating matches: have a qualified installer verify the outlet, circuit and installation requirements for your home.

This is the Australian SI2641DAU, not the superficially similar SI2641D sold in other markets. Check the full model code and Australian specifications when comparing listings; specifications for another regional model should not be substituted.
What cooking zones and pan sizes does it have?
The cooktop has four induction zones: two 21 cm zones and two 15 cm zones. Smeg lists boost on all zones. Choose cookware with a magnetic base and a base size that suits the zone; a retailer also flags magnetic-base compatibility as a requirement. See Appliances Online’s SI2641DAU listing for its cookware compatibility note.

How powerful is it for everyday cooking?
The whole cooktop is limited to 2.8 kW / 15A, so its total available electrical power is an important trade-off if you often cook across several zones at once. Smeg’s product page lists nominal zone power of 1.60 kW for each 21 cm zone and 1.20 kW for each 15 cm zone, with boost ratings of 2.10 kW and 1.60 kW respectively. Its 2024 product information sheet instead lists 1,500 W / 2,000 W boost for the 21 cm zones and 1,200 W / 1,600 W boost for the 15 cm zones. Because the manufacturer sources differ on the larger zones’ figures, do not combine them into a single definitive zone rating; the documented whole-appliance limit is 2.8 kW.

How to compare it with another cooktop
- Electrical supply: compare the SI2641DAU’s 2.8 kW / 15A rating with the alternative’s connection and total-power requirements.
- Fit: check cut-out dimensions, body dimensions, and whether top-mount or flush installation suits the benchtop.
- Zone layout: consider whether two 21 cm and two 15 cm zones suit the pans you use.
- Controls and safeguards: compare boost, timers, pan detection, residual-heat indication and lock functions.
- Evidence and cost: distinguish manufacturer specifications from independent test results, then confirm current price and stock.
