Its listed dimensions and Australian electrical specification also make local fit and availability worth checking before buying.
What the Smeg SA34MX offers
Smeg classifies the SA34MX as a countertop microwave with grill. Its published feature list describes what the appliance can do, not how well it performs in independent testing.

These figures and features are from Smeg’s Australian product listing and its SA34MX user manual. Programme counts do not establish cooking quality, and the presence of a grill does not show how evenly or effectively it browns food.

Will it fit your counter or cabinet?
Smeg lists the SA34MX at 519 mm wide, 451 mm deep and 314 mm high. The manual gives the height as 314.2 mm, a minor difference consistent with rounding. The product listing specifies a 31.5 cm turntable; CHOICE’s public listing presents it as 31 cm and shows a slightly different dimensions presentation. For a purchase decision, use the current local manufacturer specification, then confirm the actual unit and required clearances with the seller and manual.

- Measure the available width, depth and height, including space for the side-opening door.
- Check the manual’s ventilation and placement instructions. A countertop model should not be enclosed unless the installation provisions allow it.
- If considering the optional MTK60X34 trim kit, verify that it is sold in your market, is compatible with the exact model and suits the planned cabinet opening.
What independent testing says—and does not say
CHOICE has a product review listing for the SA34MX. Its publicly visible page identifies it as a turntable microwave, lists 1000 W and shows the turntable as 31 cm. However, the Expert Rating and results for cooking vegetables, defrosting, reheating and grilling are member-only. The public information therefore confirms that CHOICE lists the model for review, but it does not establish the score or how the microwave performed in those tests. There is not enough accessible, attributable evidence here to rate its heating evenness, grill results, control usability, noise or long-term reliability. Those are meaningful points to assess when comparing microwaves, but they should not be inferred from Smeg’s feature list or treated as verified owner experience.

Power, plug and regional compatibility
The Australian listing and manual specify 240 V, 50 Hz, an Australian plug and a nominal 1500 W power rating. The manual distinguishes that input figure from the 1000 W microwave output and lists 1100 W grill input. Buyers outside Australia should check the exact regional model’s voltage, frequency, plug and warranty rather than assuming the Australian specification applies.

Price and availability in Australia and New Zealand
On 8 October 2026, Smeg Australia’s page displayed an RRP of AUD 480 and marked the product “OutOfStock.” That is a dated Australian listing, not a guaranteed current price or availability in other markets. Use Smeg Australia’s product page and stockist finder to check the latest local status.

Smeg’s SA34MX user manual states: “If the door or door seals are damaged, the oven must not be operated until it has been repaired by a competent person.” The manual also warns against operating the microwave with the door open or tampering with its safety interlocks, and says to keep sealing surfaces clean.
