For å frigjøre plass på iPhone eller iPad bør du først finne ut hva som bruker lagringen, og deretter rydde i apper, bilder, videoer eller nedlastede filer. Gå til Innstillinger > Generelt > [enhet] lagring for å se appenes lagringsbruk og Apples anbefalinger. Husk at lagring på enheten og lagring i iCloud er to forskjellige ting: mer iCloud-plass øker ikke kapasiteten på selve enheten.
1. Se hva som tar plass på iPhone eller iPad

Undersøk store apper og innholdet du har lastet ned, for eksempel videoer eller filer du ikke lenger trenger lokalt. Se også hvor mye plass Bilder bruker før du bestemmer deg for å slette noe.

2. Rydd uten å miste mer enn du ønsker
Avlast en app eller slett den
For apper du sjelden bruker, kan Avlast app (Offload App) være et alternativ. Det frigjør plassen appen bruker, men beholder appens dokumenter og data. Slett app fjerner både appen og tilknyttede data. Før du sletter, kontroller om appen lagrer viktig innhold lokalt eller har egne regler for sikkerhetskopiering og gjenoppretting.

Gå gjennom bilder, videoer og filer
Slett bare innhold du vet at du ikke trenger, og sjekk at viktige filer finnes et annet sted før du fjerner dem. Hvis Bilder i iCloud er aktivert, synkroniseres slettinger: når du sletter et bilde eller en video på én enhet, slettes det også fra andre enheter som er logget på samme Apple-konto.

Slettede bilder og videoer ligger vanligvis i Nylig slettet i 30 dager før de fjernes permanent. Apple opplyser imidlertid at innhold kan bli fjernet umiddelbart uten mulighet for gjenoppretting der dersom iCloud-lagringen er full. 3. Hindre at lagringen fylles opp igjen
Hvis bilder og videoer bruker mest plass
Når Bilder i iCloud er slått på og det finnes nok iCloud-plass, kan originaler i full oppløsning lagres i iCloud mens plassbesparende kopier beholdes på enheten. Dette kan redusere lokal plassbruk, men krever kapasitet i iCloud; det gir ikke en gratis utvidelse av enhetens innebygde lagring. Sletting er heller ikke det samme som optimalisering: sletting fra Bilder i iCloud fjerner bildet fra de andre tilknyttede enhetene også.
Hvis iCloud er fullt
iPhone- eller iPad-lagring er den fysiske kapasiteten på enheten. iCloud-lagring brukes blant annet til sikkerhetskopier, Bilder i iCloud og iCloud Drive. Apple oppgir at en ny iCloud-konto får 5 GB gratis skylagring; dette gjelder iCloud, ikke intern lagring på enheten. iCloud+ kan gi mer plass i skyen, men gjør ikke enheten større.

Når iCloud-kontoen er full, kan sikkerhetskopiering og opplasting av nye bilder stoppe. iCloud Drive og andre iCloud-apper kan slutte å holde seg oppdatert, og iCloud Mail kan miste evnen til å sende eller motta e-post. Dette er følger av full skylagring og betyr ikke nødvendigvis at selve enheten er full. Å oppgradere iCloud kan løse et problem med skyens kapasitet, men frigjør ikke automatisk plass på enheten. Omvendt gir sletting av lokale apper eller filer ikke i seg selv mer iCloud-lagring.
