The Malaysian building contractor began trading on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market on 6 October 2026. Its growth plan is a management intention, not a guarantee of new contracts or financial results.
What SLGC does—and what it means by C&I work
SLG Construction describes itself as a CIDB G7 building contractor working on residential and non-residential buildings, including commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects. It primarily acts as a main contractor and offers both building construction and design-and-build services. Depending on the contract, work can also include external and ancillary works. SLG Construction’s company description says conventional building work generally starts after the customer’s appointed consultants complete the design; design-and-build is a distinct service category.

For C&I growth, management is emphasizing design-and-build opportunities. That does not mean the company has secured a particular new industrial project: the reported pipeline consists of opportunities being pursued, not awarded work.
How management says it will pursue growth
Deliver existing jobs first
At the IPO prospectus launch, managing director Yong Zhen Lin said the immediate priority was to execute existing projects. The Star’s listing-day report also described a plan to complete current jobs while replenishing the order book. This sequencing matters: growth depends not only on winning tenders but also on delivering work already contracted.
#1 Best Overall
- Founded in 2010, Chips Gate is a trusted supplier of industrial automation equipment, including PLC modules, motor drives, and control systems for both B2B and B2C needs.
- Wide selection of automation equipment suitable for various industrial and commercial applications.
- Durable packaging keeps your order fully protected in transit.
- Available for single-unit purchases or bulk orders to meet different project needs.
- Dedicated to maintaining consistent quality standards through careful selection and handling of equipment.
Prioritize design-and-build opportunities
Management said it would continue focusing on C&I projects and prioritize design-and-build opportunities over the next three years. In a 6 October interview, Yong said the existing order book was predominantly residential, while prospective opportunities and the tender pipeline were increasingly weighted toward C&I, particularly industrial buildings. The interview did not disclose the pipeline’s value. BusinessToday’s interview report attributed a historical tender success-rate range of 10% to 15% to the managing director; it is not a forecast of future wins.
Follow the stated sources of demand, without treating them as contracts
The Star reported management’s view that industrial tenders were emerging amid investment in manufacturing, logistics, data centres and other facilities. Those sectors can create opportunities for contractors, but the market trend does not establish that SLGC will win any specific tender or convert its pipeline into revenue.

What the order-book figures do—and do not—show
SLGC said it had an unbilled order book of RM1.0 billion as at 12 August 2026, which it expected to recognize progressively over the following five financial years. An unbilled order book represents work not yet recognized as revenue; it is not cash already received or revenue already earned. BernamaBiz reported the dated figure.

This is a target, not a guaranteed outcome. Recognition depends on project progress and the applicable accounting treatment, and the interview report does not make the target an independently verified forecast. The RM1.0 billion figure is dated 12 August 2026, while the RM800 million target was reported in an interview on 6 October 2026.

IPO proceeds and planned operating support
Bernama reported that SLGC priced its IPO at RM0.28 per share and planned to raise RM29.4 million through 105 million new shares, alongside an offer for sale of 63 million existing shares. Proceeds from new shares were assigned to the following uses:
| Planned use | Amount |
|---|---|
| Construction machinery and equipment | RM9.2 million |
| Repayment of bank borrowings | RM7.6 million |
| General working capital | RM7.5 million |
| Estimated listing expenses | RM4.6 million |
| Construction-management software upgrades | RM0.5 million |
The machinery and equipment allocation is the clearest direct plan to expand physical operating capacity. Working capital can support ongoing projects, while debt repayment and software upgrades address other business needs; the reported allocations alone do not establish how much additional C&I work the company can execute. These figures were reported as planned allocations, rather than independently confirmed spending. See BernamaBiz’s report on the IPO and proceeds.

What investors should watch after the listing
- Order-book conversion: whether projects progress in line with management’s recognition target and the stated five-financial-year horizon for the order book dated 12 August 2026.
- New awards and project mix: whether C&I tenders become awarded contracts and how the actual mix compares with the predominantly residential existing order book described in the interview.
- Execution capacity and costs: whether machinery, working capital and project delivery support profitable completion. Bernama reported management comments on diesel and logistics costs and steps it said it was taking to reduce diesel dependence and improve logistics and materials efficiency; the report did not independently measure resulting savings.
- Order-book replenishment: whether the company can secure new work as it completes existing projects. A tender pipeline is prospective, and the reported historical 10%–15% success range does not determine future results.
SLGC’s ACE Market debut was reported on 6 October 2026. The Star said the shares opened at the 28 sen IPO price; that opening quote is not a current share price. The Star’s listing-day report covered the debut and order-book plans.
