To set up a SkyTrak golf simulator with a projector, connect SkyTrak to its app first, then connect the PC or tablet running that app to the projector. These are separate connections: the SkyTrak monitor does not send the projected picture directly to the projector. After the display source is connected, set projector orientation and image format, then fit the picture to your impact screen.
1. Set up SkyTrak and connect it to the app
Register your SkyTrak unit to your account, install the appropriate app for your supported device, and connect the monitor. SkyTrak documents three connection modes; choose one supported by your device and setup. Initial internet access is recommended so licenses and memberships can sync. This setup step does not mean you must purchase a membership simply to project the app display.

- Direct Mode: Connect through the SkyTrak unit’s Wi-Fi.
- Network Mode: Configure it after Direct Mode to connect through your local network and support automatic syncing.
- USB Mode: Connect the monitor to a PC over USB.
Follow SkyTrak’s Getting Started instructions and connection-mode guidance for your device and current app version.
2. Connect the computer or tablet to the projector
The image path is from the device running the SkyTrak app to the projector. HDMI is the straightforward option: connect the PC or iPad to the projector, then select the corresponding HDMI input on the projector. SkyTrak’s setup guide describes an included HDMI cable, but package contents vary, so check your studio or projector package. An Apple device may need an HDMI adapter.

- Open the SkyTrak app and confirm its image appears on the projector.
The port instruction can be package-specific: the Studio 12 manual specifies HDMI port 1 on its supplied projector. Do not assume that port applies to a different projector. SkyTrak also documents wireless casting from an iPad or Mac; that option requires the monitor to be in Network Mode. See the Projector FAQ for the supported approach.
3. Set projector orientation and image format
Match the orientation to the mount
If the projector is mounted overhead, select the ceiling or pole orientation in its menu and accept the setting. Floor-mounted projectors generally keep the default orientation. Menu names vary by projector, so use its manual if the labels differ from SkyTrak’s guide.
Choose screen type and aspect ratio
Set the projector’s screen type and aspect ratio to suit both the source device and impact screen. SkyTrak’s Projector Set Up Guide specifies 4:3 for PC and 16:9 for iPad or tablets. Those ratios are not universal across all equipment: a separate SkyTrak Studio 8 manual recommends 16:9 for both and allows 4:3 for PC. If you have a studio package, follow its instructions; otherwise choose the format that matches your device output and screen.

If the aspect-ratio controls are unavailable, connect the PC or tablet and make sure its display signal is reaching the projector before adjusting the setting.
4. Fit and straighten the picture on the impact screen
Correct a trapezoid with keystone
Projector tilt can make the picture wider at the top or bottom. Use horizontal or vertical keystone controls to correct that trapezoid. SkyTrak’s guide describes vertical keystone adjustment for an overhead mount and gives +11 as a common setting in its documented context; treat that as an example, not a target for every room.
Align the corners
For uneven edges, use the projector’s Display > Geometric Correction > Four Corners controls, if available, to adjust individual corners. After previewing a four-corner change, press Enter a second time to commit it. SkyTrak warns that if you do not confirm the adjustment, the menu can time out and revert to the earlier image.

Adjust placement for screen coverage
If the picture does not cover the impact screen, moving the projector farther away increases image coverage. Check the projector’s throw requirements, room dimensions, and available mounting position before settling on placement. A ceiling or pole mount, floor enclosure, or stand can support different placements, but the right choice depends on clearance and the required throw distance. SkyTrak’s Projector Set Up Guide covers placement and adjustment. Its FAQ says the drop-mount it references extends 24 inches; that measurement applies to that mount, not every installation.

5. Troubleshoot a blank or misconfigured display
- No projected image: Confirm the projector is on the right input and the PC or tablet is sending a display signal. Check for a lens cap on a ceiling-mounted projector. If you use the relevant floor enclosure, check for protective film on its transparent front plate.
- Projector settings are greyed out: Connect the PC or iPad and verify that its interface appears through the projector before changing aspect-ratio settings.
- Four-corner changes disappear: Reopen geometric correction, make the adjustment, preview it, and press Enter again to save it before the menu times out.
- Image shape is wrong after changing settings: If geometric correction was changed before aspect ratio, SkyTrak says a reset at the bottom of the Display menu may be needed. Set the correct image format, then redo the geometry.
- Using an iPad or Mac without HDMI: Use an appropriate HDMI multiport adapter or SkyTrak’s documented wireless-casting method. Wireless casting requires Network Mode.
For equipment-specific steps, refer to SkyTrak’s Projector FAQ and the manual for your projector or studio package.
