SkyNet Reports Saint Petersburg Internet Outages After DDoS Attack; BO Team Claims Responsibility

SkyNet, an internet provider serving Saint Petersburg and nearby areas, said a DDoS attack against its network began on 6 October 2026 at 08:15. The company warned that games, voice calls and video chats could be unstable. Ukrainian hacktivist group BO Team later claimed responsibility, but its claim—and its assertion that more than 15,000 provider devices were disabled—has not been independently verified in the available reporting.

Why is SkyNet down?

In a notice dated 9 October, SkyNet said its network had been under a DDoS attack since 08:15 on 6 October. The company said it was working to repel the attack and address its effects. A distributed denial-of-service attack, or DDoS, aims to overwhelm a network or service with traffic, making connections slow or unavailable; SkyNet identified the incident as a DDoS attack but did not publish independently verifiable technical details about how it was carried out.

SkyNet warned that services sensitive to delays could become unstable, including online games, voice calls and video chats. Possible effects it listed included lag, high ping, dropped connections, and interrupted audio or video. SkyNet’s 9 October notice is a dated update, not confirmation of the provider’s current status.

What problems did subscribers report?

RBC reported on 10 October that users in Saint Petersburg had described prolonged interruptions, including no wired internet, high latency and problems with fiber connections. RBC said SkyNet had not announced a time for full restoration in that report. These are contemporaneous reports from 10 October; they do not establish whether service has since recovered. What is known about BO Team’s claim?

On 12 October, SecPost reported that Ukrainian hacktivist group BO Team claimed responsibility for the attack and said more than 15,000 devices belonging to the provider had been disabled. Those details are the group’s claims as reported by SecPost. The available reporting does not independently verify the number, show that the devices were permanently disabled, or establish the group’s role as fact. SecPost’s report

Is SkyNet internet working in Saint Petersburg now?

The reports cited here do not establish whether the outage has ended. SkyNet’s notice is dated 9 October, and RBC’s account of subscriber complaints and restoration timing is dated 10 October. Check SkyNet’s current official updates for a status applicable to your location and time; do not treat those October reports as a live outage notice.

What should subscribers do during the disruption?

Because SkyNet attributed the incident to an attack against its network, changing a home router or replacing a cable is not an established fix for this outage. A home Wi-Fi problem can look like an ISP interruption, however. Check whether the connection is down on more than one device and, if possible, test a wired connection; if only Wi-Fi is affected, the issue may be local. If multiple devices or a wired connection also fail, consult the provider’s latest status information rather than assuming new home equipment will restore service.

When will SkyNet service return?

No final recovery time is established by these reports. RBC said on 10 October that SkyNet had not specified a full restoration deadline, and the available accounts do not document when service was fully restored. A current estimate, if issued, would need to come from a newer provider update.
