NOW lists Sports Day at £14.99 for 24 hours. It is a one-off payment and ends when the 24-hour period expires. This is the clearest option for a single Saturday of football, a race weekend day, a tennis session or another event cluster that falls inside the same 24-hour window.

The timing matters. A day pass is not a calendar-day entitlement that automatically runs until midnight; the useful period is the 24 hours attached to the purchase. If two events are more than 24 hours apart, they require separate passes. Check the start time of the event and the service’s displayed expiry time before paying.
NOW Sports Month Membership
NOW’s flexible Sports Month costs £34.99 per month. It auto-renews unless cancelled, and NOW says a fully flexible month can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal while access continues through the already-paid 30-day period.
That makes the flexible month useful for a concentrated run of fixtures. It also avoids the risk of paying for a long contract when your viewing is seasonal. Set a reminder for several days before the next billing date if you do not want another month; cancelling on the final day can leave little time to resolve an account or payment problem.

NOW offer pages show a promotional £27.99 monthly price for a 12-month minimum term, followed by £34.99. The displayed promotion, eligibility rules and end date can change, so treat £27.99 as an offer to verify at checkout rather than a permanent list price. Twelve payments at that promotional rate would total £335.88 for the first term, before any later £34.99 pricing.
The saver can lower the annual sports cost for someone who genuinely watches throughout the year, but it removes the flexibility that makes NOW attractive to occasional viewers. Compare the complete 12-month commitment with the cost of buying only the months or days you will actually use.

Sky Sports Complete
Sky’s displayed offer lists Sky Sports Complete at £20 extra per month with a 24-month minimum term. The offer page states that the information was correct as of 6 August 2026. The sports add-on alone therefore represents £480 over the minimum term, before the required Sky TV subscription.
After the displayed offer, Sky lists standard pricing of £38 extra for Sky Q customers or £35 extra for Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers. Those figures are also add-on prices. They do not include the underlying Sky TV service, equipment or any other selected options, and the final amount depends on the customer’s package.
For a viewer starting from scratch, the relevant calculation is the Sky TV base price plus the sports add-on for every contracted month. Because no universal Sky TV base price is published, a complete first-year Sky total cannot be stated without knowing the platform and package.
Sky Sports F1
Sky also lists Sky Sports F1 from £20 extra per month on a 31-day rolling contract, with an existing Sky TV subscription required. This is an F1-specific option, not a replacement for the full Sky Sports channel package. It may suit an existing Sky customer who follows Formula 1 but does not need Premier League football, cricket, golf or the other sports channels.

The arithmetic assumes every event is included in the membership and that all the viewing days fit inside one paid month. A day-pass strategy can still be cheaper over a season if fixtures are spread out: four matches on four different months could cost £59.96 in total, whereas four separate flexible months would cost £139.96.

For a single game, NOW Sports is therefore cheaper than taking Sky Sports solely for that fixture. The comparison is not £14.99 versus £20, however: Sky’s £20 is a monthly add-on tied to a Sky TV account and a 24-month minimum term. The base subscription and commitment change the result.

The table shows why a headline comparison can mislead. Sky’s sports component may look less expensive than 12 months of NOW Flexible, but a new Sky customer must add the Sky TV base service and accept the minimum term. Conversely, the NOW annual figures assume continuous access; an occasional viewer can spend far less by buying only one or two day passes in the months that matter.
Channels, competitions and rights
What NOW Sports includes
NOW says its Sports Day and Sports Month Memberships include all 12 Sky Sports channels, live streams and selected on-demand content. The listed coverage includes Premier League and EFL football, Formula 1, tennis, rugby, cricket, golf and the Women’s Super League.
What NOW Sports does not include
Champions League, Europa League and Conference League matches are excluded from the standard NOW Sports Membership because those competitions are shown on TNT Sports in the UK. If European club football is the reason you are subscribing, neither a standard NOW Sports pass nor the Sky Sports-only package described here is sufficient; check TNT Sports availability separately.
Sky’s sports package
Sky describes its sports service as carrying Premier League and EFL football, Formula 1, golf majors, tennis and England cricket. The practical difference is less about a simple channel-count comparison and more about the access model: Sky delivers the package through its own TV ecosystem and account, while NOW is designed for shorter, standalone memberships on compatible devices.

Where you can watch
NOW supports compatible smart TVs, phones, computers and games consoles. NOW specifies a minimum broadband download speed of 2.5 Mbps. That is a stated minimum, not a guarantee of perfect playback: Wi-Fi congestion, device age, household traffic and the quality of the stream can still affect the experience.
Sky offers sports through Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Stream and the Sky Go app, subject to the package and device terms attached to the account. A Sky TV subscription is required for the Sky Sports add-ons discussed above. If you do not already use Sky hardware or service, factor setup, equipment and the base subscription into the decision rather than comparing only the sports line item.

You watch one isolated game or event
Buy a NOW Sports Day Membership if the event is available through NOW and your viewing fits inside the 24-hour period. At £14.99, it avoids a recurring payment and a long contract. It is the answer to the common question, “Can I buy Sky Sports for a day?” You cannot turn Sky Sports Complete’s monthly contract into a one-day purchase, but NOW provides the day-based alternative.
You watch two event days in a month
Two NOW day passes cost £29.98, still £5.01 below the £34.99 flexible month. Choose the month instead if the dates might shift, you expect extra matches or you value unlimited access during the paid 30-day window more than the small saving.

The flexible month is mathematically cheaper from the third day onward. Before subscribing, confirm that the competitions you want are actually in the NOW Sports line-up. A month of access does not add Champions League, Europa League or Conference League rights.

You follow a season irregularly
Use a month only in periods with several fixtures and cancel before renewal when the schedule quietens. Keep a simple calendar of the paid-through date. Buying four day passes across four widely separated months costs £59.96, far below four consecutive flexible months at £139.96.
You watch sports every week
Compare the displayed NOW saver promotion with the full Sky cost, not just the sports add-on. NOW’s promotional 12-month total is £335.88 if you qualify for £27.99 payments, while Sky’s sports add-on under the displayed offer would be £240 for the first 12 months. Sky still requires a Sky TV base subscription and a 24-month minimum, so calculate the combined monthly bill for the exact platform you would use.
You already have Sky TV and mainly watch F1
Check the Sky Sports F1 rolling add-on. Its 31-day term avoids the 24-month minimum attached to the displayed Sky Sports Complete offer, but it remains an existing-Sky-customer option and does not provide the full sports package.

How to buy and cancel without paying for unused access
Buying a NOW day pass
- Open NOW’s current Sports Membership offer and select Sports Day.
- Check the event schedule and confirm the 24-hour validity period shown at checkout.
- Complete the one-off payment and note the expiry time.
- Start viewing within that period; a new pass is needed when the 24 hours ends.
Using a NOW flexible month
- Select the fully flexible Sports Month rather than a 12-month minimum offer if you need short-term access.
- Review the renewal price and billing date before confirming.
- Cancel through your NOW account at any time if you do not want the next month.
- Keep watching until the end of the paid 30-day period; cancellation does not normally remove time already paid for.

- Confirm that you have, or are willing to add, an eligible Sky TV service.
- Identify whether the offer is for Sky Q, Sky Stream or Sky Glass, because standard post-offer add-on prices differ.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Comparing £14.99 with £20 without the base service: the £20 Sky figure is an extra monthly charge, not a standalone sports subscription.
- Assuming one day pass covers a whole weekend: NOW Sports Day lasts 24 hours, so a second day may require another purchase.
- Missing auto-renewal: NOW Flexible continues monthly until cancelled. Record the next billing date as soon as you subscribe.
- Confusing a saver offer with a rolling plan: the £27.99 NOW promotion has a 12-month minimum in the displayed offer, unlike the flexible £34.99 month.
- Expecting European competitions: Champions League, Europa League and Conference League are outside the standard NOW Sports Membership cited here.
- Buying F1 and expecting every Sky Sports channel: Sky Sports F1 is a focused add-on, not Sky Sports Complete.
- Ignoring connectivity: NOW specifies at least 2.5 Mbps download speed. Test the device and connection you will actually use, especially on busy home Wi-Fi.

Is NOW Sports worth it if you only watch football sometimes?
Usually, yes. If “sometimes” means one or two match days in a month, the day-pass total remains below a flexible month, and there is no need to maintain a Sky TV subscription. If “sometimes” means three or more days clustered in the same month, the £34.99 flexible membership is the better NOW value. If matches are scattered across the season, alternate day passes and occasional months rather than paying continuously.
Football fans should first identify the competition. Premier League and EFL fixtures are within the cited NOW Sports coverage, while the three major UEFA club competitions named above are not. Price alone cannot make a service suitable when it lacks the rights to the matches you want.
