A redesigned Sky OS interface is being trialled for Sky Glass, with Sky Stream also in scope, according to T3’s report published on 30 September 2026. The reported changes focus on easier navigation, clearer recording and Watchlist choices, recent-activity shortcuts and a conversational voice assistant. T3 said the update would be free for existing customers, but its expected timing—before the end of 2026—was a forecast, not a confirmed rollout date.
What changes are reported for Sky Glass and Sky Stream?
T3 describes a new Sky OS front end intended to make common tasks easier to reach. The report covers features being trialled by a select group of Sky Glass owners and says Sky Stream is also in scope. It does not establish that every customer will receive the same final feature set.

A top-level menu for core destinations
A new main menu puts Home, TV Guide, My Library, Sport, My Account, text search and Settings directly within reach. A clock-style Recents tab collects recent activity; T3 noted that the tab’s name may still change.
Home screen and live TV guide
The Home screen’s upper area rotates curated content. Pressing up on the remote opens a larger trailer. The redesigned TV Guide uses channel icons and provides a more direct route into live television, skipping the picture-in-picture step previously shown when entering the guide.

My Library and Recents
My Library replaces Playlist as the umbrella for Watchlist items and Recordings. Profiles can also include favourite actors and sports teams. Recents brings together Continue Watching, recently visited channels and recently opened apps, giving viewers a shortcut back to what they were doing.
How do recording and Watchlist choices work?
The interface described by T3 separates saving a programme to the Watchlist from recording it. Viewers can choose Record Show or Record Series where recording is supported, or add a programme to the Watchlist; the report also describes profile-specific choices. That distinction matters because a Watchlist entry is not the same as a cloud recording.

T3 reports that Sky provides 1,000 hours of cloud recording capacity. Recordings are stored in Sky’s cloud, not on a local hard drive. Recording rights depend on the channel: the report says Sky channels, including Sky Sports, allow recording, while BBC programmes are Watchlist-only and watched through BBC iPlayer. The 1,000-hour figure is attributed to Sky as reported by T3 in 2026, rather than to a cited Sky specification.

What can Smart Voice do?
T3 describes Smart Voice as an entertainment-focused assistant for finding programmes and films, answering related questions and controlling the service. In the demonstration described in the report, it identified Cast Away from a plot description, answered a follow-up question about awards, found a programme’s time and opened a page where it could be added to the Watchlist. These are examples from T3’s demonstration, not independently verified performance tests.
