Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor most buyers, the Sony WH-CH720N is the safer all-round choice because Sony documents active noise canceling (ANC), an ambient sound mode, and up to 35 hours of playback with ANC on. The Skullcandy Hesh Evo is worth considering if you want Tile finding and a simpler feature set, and are comfortable choosing on the basis of its stated battery claim rather than noise-canceling features. There is an important evidence limit: the available manufacturer specifications do not establish which model sounds better, is more comfortable, or performs better on calls.
At a glance: what the specifications establish
| Feature | Sony WH-CH720N | Skullcandy Hesh Evo |
|---|---|---|
| Noise control | Sony lists active noise canceling and Ambient Sound mode. | The Hesh Evo support page does not list ANC or an ambient mode. That omission suggests it should not be treated as an ANC headphone, but the page is not an independent test. |
| Battery claim | Maximum 35 hours of continuous music playback with ANC on, or maximum 50 hours with ANC off, according to Sony. | Up to 36+ hours of play time, according to Skullcandy. The company does not state comparable ANC-on and ANC-off conditions. |
| Charging | Approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge. | 1 hour 45 minutes for a full charge by USB-C; Skullcandy also claims a 10-minute charge provides 3+ hours of playtime. |
| Weight | Approximately 6.8 oz / 192 g, according to Sony. | Not stated on the Hesh Evo support page. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth Specification Version 5.2; Sony lists SBC and AAC audio formats. | Bluetooth 5.0, with a listed range of approximately 30+ feet (10+ meters). |
| Finding and app support | Not established by the specifications covered here. | Supports Tile finding. Skullcandy says it does not pair with the Skullcandy App. |
| Wired listening | Sony lists a wired stereo-mini input. | Not established by the support information covered here. |
| Current street price, warranty, multipoint, and folding details | Not stated in the specifications covered here. | Not stated in the specifications covered here. |
The manufacturers’ battery figures are not a controlled head-to-head comparison. In particular, Sony specifies separate results with noise canceling on and off, while Skullcandy gives one “up to” play-time claim without equivalent test conditions. Treat them as each company’s stated maximums, not proof that one will last longer in everyday use.

Choose the Sony WH-CH720N if you need noise control for travel
Sony explicitly lists ANC and Ambient Sound mode. That makes the WH-CH720N the clearer choice if you are looking for documented noise-control features for a commute, flight, or shared workspace. Ambient Sound mode is a way to let outside sound in rather than listening with noise canceling; the supplied specifications do not detail its settings or effectiveness.

Sony describes its noise-control system as Dual Noise Sensor technology with two microphones in each earcup and an Integrated Processor V1. Those are manufacturer-described components, not independent measurements of how much noise the headphones reduce. The available information does not give a measured ANC score or establish how the Sony compares with the Hesh Evo in a particular environment.

Does the Hesh Evo have noise canceling?
Skullcandy’s Hesh Evo support page covers Bluetooth, battery, Tile, charging, and app behavior, but it does not list ANC. Based on that documentation, do not buy the Hesh Evo expecting active noise canceling. This is a conclusion from the published support information, not a laboratory verification of the headphones.
The distinction matters: passive isolation from an over-ear fit, if present, is not the same feature as electronic ANC. The available Hesh Evo information does not provide isolation measurements, so it cannot establish how much outside sound the headphones block passively.
Battery life: compare the conditions, not just the numbers
Sony rates the WH-CH720N for a maximum of 35 hours of continuous music playback with noise canceling enabled and up to 50 hours with it disabled. These are Sony’s manufacturer figures. For a buyer who intends to use ANC regularly, 35 hours is the more relevant of the two Sony claims.

Skullcandy states that the Hesh Evo has “up to 36+ hours of play time.” Its support page does not specify a matching ANC setting or test conditions. The Hesh Evo’s stated figure is therefore not directly comparable to Sony’s 35-hour ANC-on result; it does not establish that the Skullcandy lasts longer in similar use.
Charging differences
- WH-CH720N: Sony lists an approximately 3.5-hour full charge.
- Hesh Evo: Skullcandy lists a 1-hour-45-minute full charge via USB-C and claims that a 10-minute charge provides 3+ hours of playtime.
Those charge-time and rapid-charge figures are manufacturer claims. They can help plan when you have access to a charger, but they do not tell you how long either headphone will last at your volume or in your listening conditions.
Weight, comfort, and wearing them for long sessions
Sony lists the WH-CH720N at approximately 192 g (6.8 oz), which gives buyers a concrete weight figure to consider for commuting or long listening sessions. Skullcandy’s Hesh Evo support page does not state a weight, so a specification-based weight comparison is not possible here.

Weight alone cannot settle comfort. The available manufacturer information does not establish a direct comparison of headband pressure, earcup fit, heat, or comfort over several hours. If comfort is decisive, try each model on where possible and check the seller’s return terms rather than assuming that a lighter headphone, or one with an unreported weight, will fit better.

The supplied manufacturer specifications do not provide a matched sound-quality test, frequency-response measurement, or call-microphone test for both models. Sony lists SBC and AAC support for the WH-CH720N, while the Hesh Evo support information covered here does not list its codecs. That difference in disclosed information is not proof that one model sounds better.
Likewise, a listed microphone count is not a call-quality result. Sony describes two microphones in each earcup as part of its noise-control system, but the specifications do not establish how clearly either headphone transmits speech in a quiet room, outdoors, or on a noisy call. There is no basis here for promising that either is the better work-call headset.

The Sony specification lists Bluetooth 5.2, while Skullcandy lists Bluetooth 5.0 and an approximate range of 30+ feet (10+ meters) for the Hesh Evo. These version numbers do not by themselves establish which headphone will have a more reliable connection in a particular home or office. The supplied information does not establish a direct connection-stability test.
Skullcandy confirms Tile finding support for the Hesh Evo, a useful distinction if locating a misplaced pair is a priority. The same support page says the Hesh Evo does not pair with the Skullcandy App. Do not assume app-based EQ or other app controls are available for this model based on the brand’s other products.

Sony lists a wired stereo-mini input for the WH-CH720N. That is a documented option if you want to connect by cable. The Hesh Evo information covered here does not establish whether it offers wired listening. The specifications also do not resolve multipoint pairing or which model switches more conveniently between a phone and a computer, so check the exact feature listing for your regional version if simultaneous device connections matter.
Price, warranty, and what to check before buying
No current street prices or warranty terms are established by the specifications in this comparison. Prices, stock, and warranty coverage can vary by seller and region, so check the exact listing and local terms at the time you buy. Without a verified price difference, it is not possible to say whether the Sony is worth a particular premium over the Skullcandy.
Make the decision based on the features you can verify for the exact listing:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Choose the WH-CH720N if documented ANC, Ambient Sound mode, or a listed wired input is important to you.
- Consider the Hesh Evo if Tile finding is useful and its listed charging and battery claims fit your needs, without expecting app pairing or documented ANC.
- For sound, comfort, and call quality, seek a direct test of these exact models or try them yourself; the listed specifications do not settle those questions.
- Before ordering, confirm the model name, regional availability, seller’s return policy, and warranty terms rather than relying on a comparison with another headphone in the same product family.
Verdict: which one should you buy?
The Sony WH-CH720N is the safer choice for buyers who specifically want noise canceling and an ambient sound mode, because those features are documented by Sony. Its 192 g weight, Bluetooth 5.2 specification, and stated battery figures also give a clearer specification picture.
The Skullcandy Hesh Evo is a reasonable alternative if Tile finding and its stated 36+ hours of play time are more relevant to you than documented noise-control modes. Because the battery claims use different conditions, they do not prove that the Hesh Evo outlasts the Sony in comparable use. Neither model can be declared the winner for sound, comfort, or calls on the available evidence.
