As of October 5, 2026, Apple says Siri AI is unavailable on iPhone and iPad in the European Union, even on devices that meet its hardware requirements. Apple has not announced when it will arrive there, so the wait could last months—but its duration is unknown.
What EU iPhone and iPad users can access
Apple’s current availability information says Siri AI is not available on iOS or iPadOS in the EU. The restriction also covers features that depend on Siri AI. It is a regional platform restriction, not something an eligible iPhone or iPad model can bypass.

This does not mean every Apple Intelligence feature is blocked. Apple says other next-generation features across apps—including advanced photo editing, the reimagined Image Playground and intelligent browsing—are available to EU residents on supported devices running iOS 27 or iPadOS 27. Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air as compatible with iOS 27. For iPadOS 27, it lists iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with M1 or later. Meeting those device requirements does not remove the EU restriction on Siri AI for iPhone and iPad.

Apple’s support page says EU users can use Siri AI on macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 if their Apple Account region is set to the EU and both the device and Siri are set to English. Apple’s September launch announcement also excluded watchOS in the EU; Apple says watch access requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. These platform-specific exceptions do not make Siri AI available on EU iPhones or iPads.
When will Siri AI come to EU iPhone and iPad?
Apple has given no release date or firm rollout window for Siri AI on iOS or iPadOS in the EU. In its June 8 statement, Apple said it had no timeline. Its September launch announcement still described Siri AI as unavailable in the EU on those platforms. The evidence available as of October 5 establishes no later date, so “months-long wait” is a possibility, not a confirmed estimate.

Apple’s June statement mentioned an 18-month staged rollout as part of its proposed approach to regulators. That figure describes Apple’s proposal, not a commitment or forecast for when EU users will receive Siri AI.

Why Apple and the European Commission disagree
Apple says the delay stems from the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA). In June, it said regulators had not accepted its proposals for bringing Siri AI to the EU while supporting other virtual assistants. Apple argued that compliance could require giving other assistants access to user data and app controls, creating privacy and security risks. It described a proposed “Trusted System Agent” and staged implementation. These are Apple’s claims about the regulatory dispute, not an independent legal finding.

The European Commission disputes Apple’s account. The Associated Press reported Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier saying: “The decision not to roll out Siri AI in the EU is Apple’s and Apple’s only because absolutely nothing in the DMA prohibits Apple from introducing new products in the EU.” That is the Commission’s position as quoted by AP, not a court ruling. If Siri AI on an EU iPhone or iPad is the deciding feature, do not assume a newer or otherwise compatible device will enable it: Apple’s stated regional restriction applies regardless of those hardware requirements. Check Apple’s current availability page before making a decision, since availability and language support can change.

At the September launch, Siri AI began rolling out in beta in English. Apple said French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish were expected the following month. Its support information for EU access on Mac and Vision Pro lists English for both the device and Siri. Language availability does not change the stated iPhone and iPad EU restriction.
