Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) is eligible for Apple’s Siri AI beta. That includes the 2nd- and 3rd-generation models as well as the newly announced 4th-generation Apple TV 4K. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) fall below the stated threshold. To use Siri AI, you’ll also need tvOS 27.2 and a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad set up in the Home, with Siri AI enabled and a supported language.
Which Apple TV models support Siri AI?
Apple’s stated threshold is Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). The feature is launching as a beta, not as a finished capability available on every Apple TV. Apple announced the support and requirements on October 13, 2026, in its Apple TV 4K announcement.

Apple’s Apple TV model guide identifies the 2nd- and 3rd-generation Apple TV 4K as supporting tvOS 27 and says previous models are no longer software-supported. That software-support detail is separate from ordinary Siri availability: an older device can still offer some Siri functions without qualifying for Siri AI.
Siri and Siri AI are not the same feature
Ordinary Siri has long been available on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation and later) in supported regions and languages. It can help search for entertainment and apps. Apple’s Siri support page and Apple TV search guide describe those existing capabilities and note that availability can vary by region and hardware.

Siri AI is Apple Intelligence-powered and adds a more conversational way to find and explore entertainment. Apple’s examples include asking which Apple TV shows have won Emmy Awards, where a show was filmed, or whether content is appropriate for a 15-year-old. A request such as “Play the show Alinda recommended” uses personal context and has an additional paired-device requirement.
What you need to use Siri AI
Meeting the Apple TV generation threshold alone is not enough. Apple’s October 13 announcement lists these requirements for the beta:

- An Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later).
- tvOS 27.2, the version Apple specifies for beta availability.
- A Home owner with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software.
- Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language on that iPhone or iPad.
- For personal-context requests, a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI enabled and a supported language.
Apple’s launch announcement says initial Apple TV Siri AI beta availability is in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Apple cautions that features may vary by region and language. If Siri AI does not appear, check the Apple TV generation, tvOS version, Home owner’s device and settings, and the language and region before assuming the TV itself is incompatible.

Owners of Apple TV 4K (2nd or 3rd generation) do not need to replace the box solely to meet Apple’s stated Siri AI generation threshold. Apple has not, however, published a feature-by-feature comparison of Siri AI on those older models against the 4th-generation device. Eligibility does not establish that every experience will be identical across generations.

The new 4th-generation Apple TV 4K includes three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri activation. Apple’s announcement does not establish that the 2nd- and 3rd-generation models have those microphones, so do not assume their hardware supports the same hands-free experience. Apple describes Siri AI as a full-screen conversational experience; its vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, characterized the new model’s microphone setup as enabling hands-free use.

If you own a 2nd- or 3rd-generation Apple TV 4K, it meets Apple’s stated generation threshold. Confirm that you can meet the software, Home, paired-device, language, and region requirements before considering an upgrade just for Siri AI. If you own an Apple TV HD or 1st-generation Apple TV 4K, those models are not eligible for this beta under Apple’s announcement, even though ordinary Siri may still work.

Apple announced Apple TV 4K (4th generation) on October 13, 2026. The U.S. launch price was listed as $299, with availability beginning November 13, 2026; these are dated U.S. launch details, not a current price guarantee for other markets or retailers. Apple says the A19-powered model has up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. Those figures are Apple’s comparisons, not independent benchmark results.

How to check which Apple TV you have
- On Apple TV, open Settings.
- Go to General > About.
- Check the model information, then match it to Apple’s Apple TV model guide to identify its generation.
Apple’s guide also covers how to identify a model by its model number. Once you know the generation, use the table above to distinguish Siri AI eligibility from ordinary Siri support.
