The least satisfying lists replace those moments with repetitive counters, forced replays, online tasks, or missable objectives that punish a blind playthrough. Because “satisfying” depends on your tolerance for difficulty, exploration and cleanup, the reliable way to choose is to evaluate the list before you start—not to trust a universal ranking.
This guide gives you a practical audit, explains the completion traps that matter, and examines Supraland as a concrete, source-backed example. Treat the example as a recommendation of its achievement design, not as proof that every player will enjoy the game itself.

What makes a solo achievement list satisfying?
A good list adds structure without fighting the game. Its goals ask you to engage with systems the developers built, rather than perform arbitrary chores after the interesting content is over. Microsoft’s Xbox certification guidance captures one useful platform-specific standard: "Unlocking achievements in the base game or a content update must represent a thorough exploration of or engagement with game content." That is an Xbox requirement, not a universal rule for Steam or PlayStation, but it is a useful test for any platform.

Engagement instead of busywork
Look for achievements tied to locations, optional encounters, tools, characters, puzzles or combat techniques that you might otherwise miss. A list can encourage experimentation by asking you to use an unusual ability, change your strategy or investigate a hidden route. A large number of entries does not make a list good; ten thoughtful goals can produce a better playthrough than one hundred nearly identical counters.

Variety with a clear sense of mastery
Satisfying lists mix low-pressure discovery with a few goals that require real understanding. Trying different characters, adapting to restrictions or executing a demanding maneuver can make a 100% run feel like a record of what you learned. The challenge should be legible: you should understand what skill or decision the achievement is testing, even if it takes practice.
Fair completion rules
Before committing, check whether choices can permanently lock an achievement, whether chapters can be replayed, and whether the game offers post-game cleanup. A well-designed list lets you correct omissions without restarting a long campaign. If a guide warns about a one-time opportunity, treat that as a major cost, not a footnote.
Respect for a solo player’s time
Completion can be satisfying even when it is long, but the time should buy you new play rather than repetition. Flag inflated counters, forced multiple runs, difficulty-only rewards and endgame grinds. Curator descriptions often discuss hours, grind and missables, but those figures are personal estimates rather than controlled measurements, so use them as planning signals.
Actually achievable alone
A game may be primarily single-player while still placing achievements behind co-op, competitive matchmaking, active servers or a limited-time event. Inspect every entry for multiplayer, leaderboard, service or date requirements. If a true solo 100% is impossible, decide whether you are happy with an incomplete profile before buying.

A pre-purchase audit you can repeat for any game
Use the game’s current achievement page on the platform where you will play. Lists, downloadable content and requirements can differ between editions, and platform policies change. Spend a few minutes on this audit before starting a campaign that may take dozens of hours.
- Read every title and description. Mark entries that mention a specific chapter, choice, difficulty, mode, character, online feature or downloadable content. Vague descriptions can hide missables.
- Map the list to the game’s systems. Write down which achievements reward exploration, combat, puzzles, upgrades, story decisions and optional activities. A healthy spread indicates that the list uses more than one part of the game.
- Search for lockouts. Check a current guide or community-maintained list for irreversible decisions, one-time encounters and collectibles that cannot be revisited. Note the earliest safe save or chapter-select point.
- Separate first-run goals from cleanup. Identify what can be earned naturally, what requires a targeted sweep after the story, and what demands a second run. This prevents an apparently short list from becoming an unexpected replay project.
- Mark solo barriers. Highlight co-op, versus, ranked, server-dependent and time-limited entries. Do not assume that a single-player campaign means every achievement is solo-accessible.
- Estimate the work honestly. Use an available completion estimate only as an anecdote, and record who supplied it. If no credible estimate exists, plan by categories—story, exploration, mastery and cleanup—instead of inventing a number.
- Decide your stopping point. You might want the base-game set, every achievement including add-ons, or simply the goals that enrich a first playthrough. Make that choice before friction turns the hobby into obligation.
Completion friction: the costs hidden in a 100% goal
| Friction | What it looks like | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Missables | A choice, item or encounter disappears permanently after a chapter or decision. | Is there chapter select, free exploration or a reliable save strategy? |
| Repetition | Multiple full campaigns, repeated dialogue or a large counter after all meaningful content is finished. | Does each run use a distinct build, character or rule set? |
| Difficulty gates | A reward requires a high difficulty or a no-death, speed or damage restriction. | Can difficulty be changed, and does the challenge test mastery rather than endurance? |
| Exploration cleanup | Unmarked rooms, collectibles or optional objectives remain after the story. | Are there late-game tools, maps or chapter replay to locate what is missing? |
| Online or social tasks | Co-op partners, matchmaking, servers or scheduled events are required. | Can you earn the complete set alone on your platform today? |
| Additional content | Some entries belong to expansions or updates rather than the base game. | Is your goal the base list, the full package or both? |
None of these categories is automatically bad. A second run can be excellent when it changes the rules; a demanding difficulty can be rewarding when it teaches the combat system. The issue is whether the list gives you a compelling reason to do the work and a fair way to finish it.
What platform rules can—and cannot—tell you
Xbox certification baseline
Microsoft’s Xbox Game Development Kit documentation states that a launch version of an Xbox console game must provide 1,000 Gamerscore across 10–100 achievements. It also says base-title achievements must be earnable without requiring extra in-title purchases. These requirements describe certification, not player satisfaction: a compliant list can still be repetitive or frustrating. The same documentation says achievements should represent thorough exploration of or engagement with the content, which is a useful design baseline.
PlayStation, Steam and changing systems
Academic work has treated trophies and achievements as systems worth studying from both developer and player perspectives. A 2022 WebSci ’22 study by Haewoon Kwak describes building and analyzing a PlayStation trophy dataset, but it does not produce a universal satisfaction score or recommend particular games. A 2014 Aalborg University Copenhagen thesis explains the general idea of developer-set goals recorded on services such as Xbox, PlayStation and Steam, including historical presentation differences such as PlayStation’s Platinum trophy. Those descriptions are useful background; verify the current rules and list on the platform you use.

Concrete example: Supraland
Supraland is the clearest completion-focused example in the available evidence. The Steam Achievement Design curator describes it as "designed for completion: no missable achievements, impactful hidden upgrades and a chest/tomb radar obtained around the end." That is a curator judgment quoted from a digital-PC listing, not a developer statement or a controlled review. The listing was not consistently fetchable, so treat the description as medium-confidence guidance and inspect the current Steam achievement page before you begin.
What its list appears to reward
The curator’s description points to exploration and discovery rather than a checklist detached from play. Hidden upgrades have a practical effect, while the late-game chest and tomb radar helps you locate remaining exploration objectives. Those are the kinds of goals that can make cleanup feel like a final tour of the world instead of a blind search.
The main question to verify
The same late-game structure may mean that completion becomes easier only near the end. Check how much optional exploration you can revisit, whether every objective remains available after the story, and whether the radar covers all achievement-relevant locations. The available evidence does not establish a current completion-time estimate, DLC requirements, online requirements or the status of physical editions, so do not assume any of those details.

Recommend the achievement list if you enjoy searching for hidden spaces, collecting upgrades with tangible impact and finishing a world after the main path is complete. Recommend caution if you dislike exploration cleanup or want a short, tightly guided list. Whether you personally enjoy the game is a separate decision; the evidence supports the design of its completion goals, not a universal verdict on the whole experience.

Choose a list that matches your preferred kind of challenge
If you like discovery
Prioritize lists that point you toward optional rooms, secrets, environmental clues and tools that reveal more of the map. Check that the game provides a way to locate missed objectives; otherwise discovery can turn into online map-checking.
If you like mechanical mastery
Look for achievements that ask you to use systems creatively, adapt to restrictions or perform a difficult technique. Confirm whether the challenge can be practiced in a safe mode and whether a failed attempt costs an entire run.
If you like variety
Favor lists that involve different characters, builds, weapons or approaches. Verify that variety changes how you play rather than merely requiring the same stage with a different cosmetic choice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf you prefer a single relaxed playthrough
Choose lists with few missables, generous chapter replay and no mandatory high-difficulty or online entries. A compact base-game list may suit you better than a larger set padded with expansions and counters.
Best Value
If you enjoy long projects
A multi-run or high-difficulty list can be a good fit when each run has a distinct purpose. Read the requirements first so you are choosing a deliberate challenge rather than discovering an accidental grind halfway through.
A practical plan for your first completion attempt
- Play the opening without a guide. Learn the systems and note any achievement that appears naturally. Avoid spoiling discovery unless a missable warning justifies it.
- Keep a lightweight log. Record irreversible choices, unusual requirements and areas that still contain unexplained objects. This is faster than reconstructing your route at the end.
- Use targeted help only when needed. Consult a current guide for a specific missable or cleanup location rather than following a full walkthrough that removes the game’s own exploration.
- Recheck the list before the finale. Confirm that all one-time objectives are complete and make a separate save if the game offers multiple endings or post-game access.
- Clean up with the game’s tools. Use chapter select, maps, radars or objective screens in the order the developers intend. If no such tools exist, decide whether the final searches are worth your remaining time.
- Stop when the trade-off changes. An unfinished achievement is preferable to turning a game you enjoyed into an obligation. Your completion standard should serve the playthrough, not replace it.
How to interpret completion estimates and curator opinions
Completion times found in curator descriptions are anecdotal. They may reflect a skilled player, a particular difficulty, a guide-assisted route or an older version of the list. Treat them as a range for planning, not a promise. The same caution applies to labels such as “no grind” or “perfect for 100%”: they express an individual player’s priorities.
No independently reported population statistic establishes which achievements players find most satisfying. That means a transparent explanation of your preferences is more useful than a ranked “best” list pretending to measure everyone’s taste. When recommending a game, state the platform and list you checked, the play it rewards, the largest source of friction, and whether a completion-time source actually exists.
Bottom line for choosing your next solo 100%
Start with the achievement list, not the game’s genre or reputation. Choose goals that deepen exploration, experimentation or mastery; reject avoidable lockouts and solo-inaccessible requirements; and match the remaining friction to the kind of project you genuinely enjoy. Supraland is a promising example because a Steam curator specifically highlights no missables, meaningful hidden upgrades and a late-game radar, but verify its current list and your edition before committing. The same audit will help you find other single-player games whose achievements feel like an extension of play instead of unpaid cleanup.
