The Simba Simbatex Cool is a 23cm all-foam mattress that Expert Reviews found supportive, good at absorbing movement and relatively affordable. But its “Cool” name overstates its appeal to hot sleepers: the reviewer’s hot-sleeping partner felt clammy within about an hour, and the mattress also has weak edge support. It may suit budget-conscious back sleepers and couples who value motion isolation, but it is a less convincing choice for very hot sleepers or people who need a stable edge.
What is the Simba Simbatex Cool mattress?
Unlike Simba’s hybrid mattresses, the Simbatex Cool contains no springs. Expert Reviews describes a 23cm-deep foam-only design with a breathable, zip-off cover, an open-cell graphite-infused Simbatex comfort layer, a flat foam support layer and a ridged seven-zone foam base. The reviewer judged its feel medium-firm.

Is it comfortable to sleep on?
Jo Plumridge of Expert Reviews said the medium-firm foam cushioned her hips and shoulders. She and her husband, whom she describes as lightweight, particularly liked it for back sleeping. Those impressions are personal, and comfort will depend on body shape and sleeping position.

Back sleepers
The reviewer’s strongest endorsement was for back sleeping: she and her husband found it comfortable and supportive in that position.
Side sleepers
The reviewer initially found the mattress too firm for side sleeping. She thought it might soften with use, while the article suggests average and heavier side sleepers may find it comfortable from the outset. Lightweight side sleepers who prefer a softer surface may be less likely to agree.

The reviewer did not recommend it for stomach sleeping, judging that hip support was not sufficient to keep the spine aligned.

Not reliably enough to recommend it to very hot sleepers. Simba describes its open-cell, graphite-infused Simbatex foam as breathable, but the reviewer’s hot-sleeping partner felt clammy within about an hour. The reviewer’s conclusion was: “I wouldn’t recommend an all-foam mattress to those who sleep hot.”

Expert Reviews also reported temperature tests in a room at 28.5°C. In its body-temperature test, the measured reading fell from 30°C to 27.8°C after three minutes and stayed there through ten minutes. In a heat-pad test, the reading fell from 50°C to 29.1°C after three minutes and 27°C after ten minutes. The reviewer noted that the room was unusually warm, which matters when interpreting those results. These tests do not establish that the mattress will keep every sleeper cool overnight.
Simba’s product information claims Simbatex has “over 5x more airflow” than standard memory foam. Simba describes this as an Intertek comparison, conducted in May 2025, of Simbatex with nine memory foams from three UK manufacturers under ISO 7231 Method B. That is a manufacturer’s foam-comparison claim, not an independent overnight test of this mattress. How supportive is it, and does it isolate movement?
Motion isolation was a standout in Plumridge’s review. She said she barely felt her husband or foster cat moving, which may appeal to couples who wake easily when their bed partner shifts.

The reviewer felt pronounced sinkage while sitting there and thought heavier users might feel less secure. In the review’s load test, four 2.5kg weights were added progressively and sinkage was measured at shoulder height and three inches from the edge. Under 10kg, the reported sinkage was 13mm at shoulder height and 12mm three inches from the edge. These measurements describe that test setup; they do not erase the reviewer’s separate concern about how the edge felt when sitting on it.

Delivery, expansion, smell and purchase terms
Expert Reviews reported free delivery in around three days. The reviewer said the mattress was ready to sleep on after about six hours, but recommended allowing 24–72 hours for full expansion. She noticed an off-gassing smell for a few days.
The review lists a 200-night sleep trial and a 10-year guarantee. Those terms may not match the current Amazon listing or every purchase route. Check the exact listing’s trial, returns and guarantee conditions before ordering; Simba’s direct-sale policy pages cover other products and do not confirm the terms for this specific Amazon listing.
Who should consider the Simbatex Cool?
- Potentially a good match: budget-conscious back sleepers and couples who value motion isolation, provided edge stability and cooling are not top priorities.
- Consider carefully: side sleepers, especially lighter people who prefer a softer feel. The reviewer found it too firm at first in that position.
- Less promising: stomach sleepers, based on the reviewer’s concern about hip support, and very hot sleepers, given the clammy feel reported by the reviewer’s partner.
- Check before buying: anyone who often sits or sleeps close to the edge, as the review found edge support weak.
For alternatives, compare current prices for the same mattress size and check construction, firmness, sleeping-position suitability, motion isolation, edge support, heat retention and the exact trial and return terms. Expert Reviews names the DreamCloud Hybrid, Nectar Classic Memory Foam, Tempur Ease, Simba Hybrid Essential, Simba Hybrid Pro and Simba Hybrid Apex as comparators, but its cited comparison prices are dated to its review and the products were not all tested as part of this assessment.

Plumridge says she slept on the mattress and assessed comfort, support, temperature regulation and movement transfer, alongside the described sinkage and temperature tests. Which? also lists a review and lab-test methodology for the product, but its accessible page hides the test scores, so it cannot be used here to confirm or contradict Expert Reviews’ findings. Its page lists a typical price of £399 and says its review was first published and last checked in October 2026; that figure is not a guarantee of today’s price.
