Simon Ordell is the official protagonist of Silent Hill: Townfall; Zoe may be its overlooked hero. Konami describes Simon as the man drawn back to St. Amelia, while Zoe is a nurse deeply connected to its residents and troubled history. Calling her the story’s “real hero” is an interpretation—not a confirmed secret reveal—but it fits the community-focused story the developers have described.
Who is the real hero in Silent Hill: Townfall?
If “hero” means the character officially identified as the lead, the answer is Simon Ordell. Konami names Simon as the protagonist and says he returns to the remote Scottish settlement of St. Amelia to put things right. He wakes with few answers and is drawn onward by CRTV messages and fragments of a past he can barely remember.

If “hero” means the person whose care and relationships may give the story its human center, Zoe is a compelling candidate. Konami describes her as a compassionate nurse who became deeply entangled in the lives of St. Amelia’s residents and the events that shaped the town. Her voice reaches Simon through CRTV static, urging him to “come back to her.” That connection makes Zoe important to the story, but it does not establish her as a playable lead or confirm a hidden role.
Simon and Zoe have different ties to St. Amelia
| Character | Officially described role | Connection to the town |
|---|---|---|
| Simon Ordell | Protagonist, performed by Jovan Adepo | Returns to St. Amelia with fragmentary memories and a mission to put things right. |
| Zoe | Compassionate nurse, performed by Kezia Burrows | Entangled in residents’ lives and the events that shaped the town; communicates with Simon through the CRTV. |
| Richard | Enigmatic man, performed by Terry O’Quinn | Summons Simon back. Konami says his connection to the town and its past grows harder to ignore, but has not fully explained it. |
The distinction is useful: Simon is the person the official announcement places at the center of the player’s journey, while Zoe’s stated connection is rooted in the community itself. Simon confronts the town through incomplete memories; Zoe is described through her involvement with the people who live there. That contrast supports the “overlooked hero” reading without turning it into plot fact.
#1 Best Overall
- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- Returning to an island town to ‘put things right’, Simon Ordell descends into a world of tense evasion, explosive confrontations, and mind-bending puzzles that slowly surface the truth of St. Amelia
- Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest
- Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface
- Experienced entirely in first person, Simon must explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged
Why Zoe’s role matters to the story’s themes
Townfall is set in 1996 in the remote Scottish settlement of St. Amelia. The developers have described the story as socially conscious, exploring the individual in relation to corporations and to society. They present the town as a community that has recently undergone trauma, rather than simply an abandoned place.
That framing gives Zoe’s work as a nurse narrative weight. A character connected to residents and their shared history can represent the human cost of what has happened to a community. The available official descriptions do not disclose what the town’s trauma is or what Zoe ultimately does, so her importance is best understood as a thematic possibility rather than a confirmed plot outcome.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- When Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to "put things in order", he meets a city lying quietly in dense fog, seemingly abandoned, yet anything but dormant
- After venturing further to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants, he gradually discovers fragments of the past rising to the surface
- Simon must explore, evade and survive from a first-person perspective. It uses a limited arsenal of weapons and tools, including the CRTV: a portable TV to receive unstable signals
- The dodging is tension, the battles are hectic and the story-based puzzles reveal a truth that does not want to remain hidden
In a July 30, 2026 PlayStation interview, Screen Burn Interactive writer and director Jon McKellan said, “Believing that a place actually exists is what makes players truly care about it, and making players care is the most important thing of all.” The emphasis on a believable place helps explain why the residents—and a character closely tied to them—may matter as much as Simon’s personal mystery. How the game reveals its story
The narrative is delivered through first-person exploration, unstable CRTV signals, and story-driven puzzles, not exposition alone. The CRTV is a pocket television and an evolution of the series’ radio: it can help locate nearby threats, surface story signals, and guide players through challenges. Tuning into it may therefore provide context for both Simon’s journey and the people connected to St. Amelia.

- Confirmed: Zoe became closely involved with St. Amelia’s residents and the events that shaped the town.
- Interpretation: Zoe may be the story’s overlooked moral or human center because of those community ties.
