To sign out on a smart TV, open YouTube, go to the left menu, select your profile picture, choose the account, then select Sign out. If you want to remove the account from the TV’s account list instead, choose Remove account. YouTube’s menus can vary by TV, streaming device, or game console.
Sign out on the TV
- Open the YouTube app.
- Select the left menu.
- Select your profile picture to open the accounts page.
- Select the account you want to sign out of, then choose Sign out.
YouTube lists Sign out and Remove account as separate options. Choose Remove account when you want the account taken off the TV’s account list, rather than only ending its current signed-in session. YouTube Help explains the sign-out and removal steps.

Sign out remotely if you no longer have the TV
Target a device through Google Account activity
On another device, open your Google Account device activity, select the TV or device, and choose Sign out. This is the more targeted option when you want to sign out a particular device.
Remove YouTube on TV access
Alternatively, open Google Account permissions, choose YouTube on TV, then select Remove access. Google says this signs the account out of any device using the YouTube on TV app with that account, so this broader action may affect more than one device. See YouTube’s remote sign-out guidance.

Watch YouTube without signing in
On the TV app’s account selection screen, choose Guest or Watch as guest. YouTube says signed-out viewing does not affect recommendations on the signed-in account. If someone else in the household needs a personalized profile, the TV app also supports adding and switching between accounts. YouTube Help describes guest viewing and TV account options.
Protect an account on a shared TV
Use an account lock when available
YouTube documents an account-lock feature that uses a four-digit code for a specific device to help keep an account private on a shared TV. It is rolling out to most smart TVs, streaming devices, and game consoles globally, so the option may not appear on every device. Check YouTube’s account privacy guidance.

Know what the parent code controls
A parent code can be required to watch as a signed-out viewer, access accounts for older household members, or remove accounts from the TV device. YouTube notes that this code is not a password and cannot verify a Google Account or other Google services. YouTube Help explains TV app controls.
