Sigma has announced the 50–120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary, an APS-C telephoto zoom for Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF cameras. Sigma says US authorized-dealer availability begins October 22, 2026, at $799. It weighs 390g for Sony E and Fujifilm X, but the Canon RF version is 410g.
What the Sigma 50–120mm F2.8 offers
The lens covers 50–120mm on APS-C cameras, which Sigma describes as approximately 75–180mm in 35mm-equivalent terms. Its maximum aperture stays at F2.8 throughout the zoom range; the minimum aperture is F22. Sigma positions the lens as a compact APS-C alternative for the role of a traditional 70–200mm F2.8, but that comparison describes its intended use and range, not proven equivalence in image quality or handling.

Sigma says the lens completes its constant-F2.8 APS-C Contemporary zoom trio alongside the 10–18mm F2.8 DC DN and 18–50mm F2.8 DC DN. Sigma’s October 8, 2026 announcement introduces the lens and explains that lineup positioning.

Stabilization and other stated features
Sigma rates the optical stabilization at up to 6.5 stops, and at 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. Those are manufacturer ratings, not independent test results. The company also specifies an aperture ring, a linear autofocus motor, and a design intended to minimize focus breathing for video. Its construction is described as dust- and splash-resistant, with a water- and oil-repellent front element. These descriptions are Sigma’s claims; no independent durability or performance testing is available in the announcement materials.
