Its publisher describes a homepage, bio, photo, blog, and contact section, a dark layout, and content that loads as you scroll. It suits a photographer who wants to control the look of a portfolio site and mainly needs to show finished work. It does not, on the publisher’s own description, provide client galleries, booking, or sales. Colorlib lists it at $19, $129, or $349 depending on the purchase tier.
Which “Shutter” this article covers
Several products share the Shutter name. This article covers only Colorlib’s Shutter photography portfolio HTML template. The two others that appear in search results are different products.

| Webflow Shutter | Separately named Webflow template with categorized collections, featured work, blog posts, CMS, a responsive slider, and a forms feature | A different product. Its features and licensing do not apply to the Colorlib template. |

What the template includes
Colorlib describes Shutter as a photography portfolio for professional and hobby photographers. Its named sections are:
Recommended Free Tools
- Home: an engaging homepage that introduces the portfolio.
- Bio: a page for the photographer’s background.
- Photos: the section for presenting selected work.
- Blog: a section for posts.
- Contact: a contact page.
The listing also names Bootstrap as the framework, a dark layout, and on-scroll content loading. Nothing in the listing indicates that the package includes hosting, client proofing, appointment booking, print fulfillment, or ecommerce. Treat those as outside the template unless the package documentation says otherwise.

Release date and listing metadata
The listing’s release field gives April 2026. The same page also shows a page date of October 2, 2025, and a search result for the page displayed September 29, 2026. These values do not reconcile, so this article does not state an independently verified launch date. Treat April 2026 as the publisher’s stated release and check the live listing for the current date.
License and listed prices
The listing labels the template CC BY 3.0 and says its image credits come from Unsplash. Three purchase tiers are displayed:
| Tier | Listed price | Support and updates (as displayed) |
|---|---|---|
| Single | $19 | One year |
| Membership | $129 | One year |
| Lifetime | $349 | Lifetime |
These are the publisher’s displayed terms, not a legal review. Confirm the current price, the usage rights that apply to client work and redistribution, the attribution requirements, and the terms for the Unsplash images, which are third-party assets with their own conditions. The package documentation is the place to find these details.

- Photographers who want a self-managed portfolio with a bio, a photo section, a blog, and a contact page.
- Photographers who are comfortable customizing an HTML and Bootstrap template.
- Photographers who mainly present finished work rather than run client workflows.
- Anyone who will arrange hosting, a domain, and any form or booking tools separately, unless the package says otherwise.
What is not established
The sources reviewed contain no independent performance, accessibility, or device testing of this template. The listing is publisher description, so it does not show how the template scores on load speed, mobile behavior, or accessibility, and it does not show that the template improves enquiries or sales. Before committing, test any preview the listing offers, and check how the dark layout and the photo section behave with your own image sizes on a phone.

Alternatives when a template is not enough
If you need client galleries, bookings, or sales, a template on its own will not cover them. Two options serve different needs.
ShootProof: a hosted platform
ShootProof is a hosted platform, not a downloadable template. Its official page says the portfolio website is included with its gallery subscription. The site includes an about page, a contact page, a homepage featuring public galleries, and a booking page for public session types. You can customize the logo, fonts, and colors, and the platform advertises a 14-day free trial. The page states, “ShootProof never charges a commission on your sales — ever.” That is the vendor’s own claim. Check current subscription details before relying on it.
ShutterPress: a WordPress gallery plugin
ShutterPress is a WordPress plugin that adds responsive galleries, client selection and proofing, password-protected galleries, and watermarking. Its site also describes WooCommerce integration for selling prints and downloads. It suits a photographer who already runs WordPress and needs proofing or sales that a portfolio page does not provide.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How to choose between them
- Control versus convenience. A template gives you the design and the code. A hosted service bundles hosting and tools in one subscription.
- Client proofing and private galleries. If you need them, the Colorlib template will not supply them on its own.
- Booking, print sales, or downloads. Decide whether these must be built in or can be handled separately.
- Ongoing cost. The template is priced by tier with a listed support window, while ShootProof is a subscription and ShutterPress is a plugin with its own WordPress and WooCommerce requirements. The sources do not provide a like-for-like total-cost comparison, so calculate the cost over the period you plan to use each option, using current prices from each vendor.
The Bottom Line
Shutter is a reasonable choice if you want a designed, self-managed photography portfolio with standard home, bio, photo, blog, and contact sections. If your work depends on client proofing, booking, or print sales, choose a hosted platform or a WordPress gallery plugin instead.
