The Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone Gen 2 was announced on September 30, 2026, as a USB microphone for gaming, streaming and content creation. Shure adds adjustable real-time denoising, a five-band EQ, Dark, Natural and Bright tone choices, and Speech, Singing and Instrument presets to the Gen 2. The launch prices are $169 USD, £159 GBP and €150 EUR. Everything below describes what Shure has announced and what you should check before buying. We have not tested the Gen 2, so none of the sound, noise-rejection or setup performance described here is a hands-on finding.
What Shure announced for the Gen 2
Shure presents the Gen 2 as a second-generation product in its own right, not a refresh with a new name on the box. When you read older coverage of the MV6, check which generation it tested before applying its conclusions to this model.

Adjustable real-time denoising
Shure says the Gen 2 has adjustable real-time denoising. The announcement does not give an independent measure of how much background noise it removes, and it does not say how the processing changes the voice. Whether the denoiser helps in a loud room, and how much it colours speech, are open questions until the unit is tested in your own setup.
Five-band EQ and tone choices
The microphone has a customizable five-band EQ and three tone settings: Dark, Natural and Bright. Shure’s stated intent is to let you shape the sound without a separate audio interface or software chain. The announcement does not describe how the EQ is adjusted on the device or in software, so check that workflow if you plan to fine-tune your voice.
#1 Best Overall
- [Natural Audio Clarity] Operated with frequency response of 50Hz-16KHz, the podcasting XLR mic delivers balanced audio range, likely to resonate with your audience. Directional cardioid dynamic microphone corded will not exaggerate your voice, while rejects unwanted off-axis noise for vocal originality and intelligibility during your PS5 gaming streaming video recording. (Tips: Keep the top of end-addressing XLR dynamic microphone AM8 facing audio source, and suggested recording range is 2 to 6 in.)
- [XLR Connection Upgrade-Ability] To use XLR connection, connect the podcast microphone to an audio interface (or mixer) using a separate XLR cable (NOT Included) . Well-connected and smooth operation improves audio flexibility to make you explore various types of music recording singing. The streaming mic isolates the pristine and accurate sound from ambient noise with greater no interference and fidelity. (RGB and function key on mic are INACTIVE when using XLR connection.)
- [USB Connection with Handy Mute] Skip the hassle of setting something up and plug the cable to play the dynamic USB microphone directly, which suits for beginner creators or daily podcast. You can quickly control the gamer mic with tap-to-mute that is independent of computer/Macbook programs to keep privacy when live streaming. LED mute reminder helps you get rid of forgetting to cancel the mute. (RGB and function key are only available for USB connection, but NOT for XLR connection)
- [Soothing Controllable RGB] RGB ring on the desktop gaming microphone for PC, with 3 modes and more than 10 light colors collection, matches your PC gears accessories for gaming synergy even in dim room. You can control the RGB key button of the dynamic microphone USB directly for game color scheme gaming or live streaming. Configured memory function, the streaming microphone RGB no need to repeated selections after turnning off and brings itself alive when power on. (Only available for USB connection)
- [More Function Keys] Computer microphone with headphones jack upgrades your rhythm game experience and gets feedback whether the real-time voice your audience hear as expected. Get the desired level via monitoring volume control when gaming recording. Smooth mic gain knob on the PC microphone gaming has some resistance to the point, easily for audio attenuation or boost presence to less post-production audio. (Only available for USB connection)
Presets for speech, singing and instruments
Speech, Singing and Instrument presets are included as starting points. Presets reduce setup time for a first-time user, but Shure’s materials do not specify the exact processing each preset applies.
Digital pop filtering, automatic level and tap-to-mute
Shure also advertises digital pop filtering, automatic level adjustment and a tap-to-mute control. These are manufacturer claims. A digital pop filter cannot be judged from a product page, and automatic level control matters most when you speak at varying distances from the capsule or switch between loud and quiet moments in a session.
Zero-latency monitoring
Shure says the 3.5 mm headphone jack provides zero-latency monitoring. This matters for gaming and voice chat because hearing your own voice without delay keeps speech natural. Shure’s wording is a manufacturer claim; test it with your own headset and audio chain before you rely on it.

What is in the box and how it mounts
The package contains three items:
- The microphone itself.
- A color-matched desktop stand with an isolation base, intended to make the microphone usable straight out of the box.
- A 2 m USB-C to USB-C cable.
A boom arm is optional. Shure says the microphone can be removed from the stand and mounted to a standard boom arm that uses the universal 5/8-inch thread. Choose a boom arm if your desk is crowded, if you want the capsule closer to your mouth without moving the stand, or if you want to reduce desk vibration. Shure does not say how the included stand performs on a crowded desk, and that is worth checking before you decide whether to buy an arm.
Software and device compatibility
Shure lists PC, Mac, iOS and Android as supported platforms. The software requirements on its product page are:
| App | Platform | Minimum version listed by Shure |
|---|---|---|
| MOTIV Mix | Windows | Windows 10 or later, 64-bit |
| MOTIV Mix | macOS | macOS 14 or later, 64-bit |
| MOTIV Audio and Video | iOS | iOS 17 or later |
| MOTIV Audio and Video | Android | Android OS 14 or later |
Software support can change after launch, so confirm these versions on Shure’s product page before you buy, especially if you run an older operating system.

Questions to answer when you test it
Shure’s announcement answers what the Gen 2 claims to do. It does not answer how well those claims hold up in use. Before you commit, check these points:
- Noise in your room: Turn the denoiser up in a noisy room, and listen for whether speech sounds thinner or processed.
- Voice quality: Compare the Natural, Dark and Bright settings with your own voice and headset.
- Desk fit: Test the included stand on your actual desk. If it does not fit, plan for a boom arm with a 5/8-inch thread.
- Preset and EQ usability: Confirm that you can set the presets and five-band EQ quickly, both on the device and in the app.
- Monitoring and mute: Check that zero-latency monitoring works with your headset and that tap-to-mute fits how you start and stop talking during matches or streams.
What the original MV6 coverage tells you
PC Gamer and WIRED have reviewed the first-generation MV6. Those reviews can give you historical context on the original product, but they measured a different microphone. Do not carry their listening impressions or performance conclusions over to the Gen 2. If you find older reviews, check their generation before relying on them.
Bottom line
The Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone Gen 2 is a distinct, announced product with a clear feature list, a useful included stand and a launch price of $169 USD, £159 GBP or €150 EUR. Whether it is the right purchase depends on how it sounds with your voice, how well its denoiser handles your room and whether its software workflow suits you. Those are questions you can only settle with a hands-on test.
