There are no published PC system requirements for Shrek 2 Remastered. As of October 18, 2026, the only concrete product information comes from a Microsoft Store page that briefly appeared for an Xbox Series X|S version developed by Aspyr. That page was removed, gave no Windows release details, and listed no CPU, graphics card, RAM, storage, operating-system or DirectX requirements. Any detailed PC specification list circulating before an official Windows listing is speculation.
What is actually known about Shrek 2 Remastered
The current information comes from a short-lived store listing rather than a formal launch announcement. Gematsu reported on October 16, 2026 that a Microsoft Store page for an unannounced Shrek 2 Remastered had appeared and named Aspyr as the developer. Inven Global reported that the page was later removed. Neither report established a release date, a Windows version or availability on platforms other than Xbox.

Confirmed platform information
- The exposed listing identified Xbox Series X|S as the platform.
- Aspyr was named as developer on that listing.
- An official Aspyr announcement had not been made when the reports were published.
- A release date and other-platform availability, including PC, remain unconfirmed.
Features described by the listing
The store description mentioned higher-resolution textures, an enhanced user interface, 4K resolution, updated cutscenes, Photo Mode and Cheat Mode. It also described solo play and co-op for up to four players through local split-screen, online multiplayer, or a combination of local and online players. Those are product features from the temporary listing, not performance targets for a Windows computer.

Can your current PC run it?
There is no reliable yes-or-no answer while the game has only an Xbox listing. A computer may be powerful enough in practice, but that cannot be verified against an official minimum until a Windows product page publishes the required components and operating-system support.
Check your hardware now without treating it as a guarantee
You can record your machine’s specifications so that a later comparison takes minutes:
- Open Settings in Windows, choose System, then About. Record the processor model, installed RAM and Windows edition and version.
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. Select Performance and inspect GPU for the graphics-card model and dedicated GPU memory. If two GPUs are shown, note both. - In Task Manager > Performance > Disk, identify the drive where games are installed and its available capacity. This does not predict the remaster’s eventual install size.
- Press
Win+R, enterdxdiag, and use the System and Display tabs to record DirectX information, driver dates and display memory. Valve’s support guidance recommends checking a game’s own DirectX and pixel-shader requirements rather than assuming that a generic graphics feature is enough. - Save the exact model numbers, not only labels such as “Core i7” or “RTX.” Different generations and laptop power limits can perform very differently.
These records are useful once an official Windows listing exists. They cannot turn the temporary console listing into a PC compatibility test.

Why the original Shrek 2 PC game is not a requirements proxy
Activision’s April 28, 2004 release notice lists the original licensed Shrek 2 game on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and PC; the PC version was developed by KnowWonder. That establishes the historical release, but it does not establish the technology used for the remaster.
A remaster can use a different engine, asset pipeline, renderer, middleware, input system and online-service stack. The new listing specifically describes modernized textures, interface work, cutscenes, Photo Mode and expanded co-op options. Consequently, the old PC build’s processor, graphics and memory needs cannot be carried forward as if they were official guidance for the remaster. Installing or benchmarking the 2004 game may show whether an older title runs on your computer, but it says nothing dependable about this product.
What the 4K and four-player claims do—and do not—tell PC owners
4K is a console description, not a PC preset
The temporary store copy mentioned 4K resolution. It did not say whether that means native rendering, a dynamic resolution range, an upscaling mode, a video-output capability, or a particular frame rate. Console hardware is a fixed target, while Windows PCs vary across CPU models, GPU memory, drivers, background processes and display settings. Until a Windows page identifies its own resolution and performance targets, using “4K” to choose a graphics card would be guesswork.

- Processor specifications: Adopting AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processor, with a basic clock speed of 3.5GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.4GHz, it can achieve fast response computing performance
- Graphics Card: Features GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card with 6GB dedicated video memory for gaming and multimedia applications
- Memory configuration: Equipped with 32GB DDR4 RAM (16GB * 2), providing sufficient memory capacity for multitasking and demanding applications
- Gaming Performance: Designed to handle modern gaming titles and graphics-intensive tasks with smooth frame rates and visual quality
- Desktop System: Complete gaming desktop computer system ready for setup and use out of the box
Co-op can affect performance and connectivity
The listing allowed up to four players through local split-screen, online multiplayer or a mixture of local and online play. It did not publish a PC player-count limit, network requirement, frame-rate target, controller requirement or split-screen rendering specification. Four-player split-screen can require multiple views to be rendered at once, while online play can add service and connection dependencies; neither possibility supplies a numerical PC requirement today.

What to compare when an official PC page appears
Use the first publisher or storefront listing that explicitly identifies Windows as the platform. Record its wording and compare each item separately rather than relying on a single “gaming PC” label.
| Item to compare | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| CPU | Which exact processor models are listed for minimum and recommended play? Are laptop and desktop chips treated separately? |
| GPU | Which graphics cards are named, and are they discrete or integrated? Is a particular graphics API or shader model required? |
| VRAM and system RAM | Are the figures separate? Does the listing attach them to a resolution, quality preset or frame-rate target? |
| Storage | What is the installed size, and does the publisher recommend an SSD? Is additional space needed for patches or unpacking? |
| Operating system | Which Windows edition and 64-bit version are supported? Are older versions excluded? |
| DirectX and drivers | Which DirectX version, shader model and driver baseline are required? Are special runtime packages mentioned? |
| Performance target | What resolution, quality preset and frame rate define “minimum” and “recommended”? |
| Features and peripherals | Are online co-op, split-screen, voice chat, controllers or keyboard-and-mouse play subject to separate requirements? |
Keep the console listing and the eventual Windows listing in separate notes. A platform label, resolution claim or feature description copied from Xbox must not be presented as a PC specification.

Should you upgrade or buy a PC for this remaster?
Not specifically for Shrek 2 Remastered yet. There is no confirmed Windows release against which a processor, graphics card, RAM kit or prebuilt system can be judged. Buying hardware on the assumption that an unverified list is accurate risks paying for the wrong component or discovering that the game is not released on PC.
A sensible waiting strategy
- Keep your current system’s exact CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, storage and Windows details.
- Wait for an official Aspyr or Microsoft Windows listing that states minimum and recommended requirements.
- Check whether the listing specifies a target resolution and frame rate; “recommended” without those targets is incomplete context.
- Compare every requirement, including DirectX and operating-system versions, instead of checking only the graphics card.
- Look for driver updates and free storage only after the official figures are known.
- If the game launches with multiple presets, use the publisher’s stated preset and resolution as the baseline for your decision.
How to interpret the eventual minimum and recommended tiers
Minimum does not mean a universal performance promise
A minimum tier normally describes the lowest configuration the publisher intends to support under a defined test scenario. It may correspond to reduced visual settings, a lower resolution or a modest frame rate. If the eventual page does not state those conditions, treat the label as a compatibility floor rather than a guarantee of smooth 4K or high-refresh play.
Recommended Free Tools
Recommended is also conditional
Recommended hardware is meaningful only when paired with a resolution, quality preset and frame-rate target. A recommendation for 1080p at 30 frames per second is not equivalent to one for 1440p at 60 or 4K at 60. Record those conditions alongside the component names when the publisher provides them.
Best Value
- CPU: AMD Ryzen7 5700X (up to 4.6GHz) 8-Core 16-Thread to easily handle multi-line tasks
- Main board: MSI B550M-A PRO motherboard provides reliable performance and stability
- GPU: Geforce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 Graphics Cards (Brand may vary) Support DLSS 4 multi frame generation, ray tracing, and Reflex 2 delay optimization
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (16GB*2) SSD: 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe
- Power supply: 650W (80plus bronze) certified for energy efficiency and stable performance
VRAM, RAM and storage are different limits
Video memory holds graphics assets for the GPU; system RAM serves Windows and the game process; storage capacity determines whether the installation and updates fit. A computer can satisfy one of these figures and still fail another. The final PC listing should therefore be read as a set of simultaneous requirements, not a menu from which one matching part is enough.
Bottom line on Shrek 2 Remastered for PC
As of October 18, 2026, Shrek 2 Remastered has only been seen in a removed Microsoft Store listing for Xbox Series X|S. Aspyr was named as developer, but no official announcement, release date or Windows version has confirmed PC availability. Because no Windows CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, storage, operating-system, DirectX or performance requirements have been published, every specific PC hardware list is unverified. Keep your current hardware information, wait for an explicit Windows listing, and make any upgrade decision only after its complete requirement table and performance targets are available.
