Samsung’s current U.S. lineup also lists the A27 5G and A17 5G. Buy now if your phone is failing or a current model meets your budget and feature needs; wait only if your existing phone remains adequate and you value the option of a future discount or an as-yet-unannounced successor.
The short answer: the current A-series is already available
The wording “upcoming Samsung Galaxy A-series phone” can be misleading in the United States. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are not unreleased rumors; Samsung announced them on March 25, 2026, and said U.S. sales would begin April 9, 2026. Samsung’s U.S. lineup currently includes the A57, A37, A27 and A17.

That changes the decision from “buy an old model or wait for the new one” to “which current model fits, or is there a good reason to keep your present phone?” Samsung’s published pages do not establish a launch date for a later-generation A-series successor. Waiting can therefore be sensible as a personal timing choice, but it should not be presented as a bet on an imminent release.
When buying now is the better decision
Your current phone is unreliable
Cracked displays, a battery that no longer lasts through the day, charging faults, dropped calls or security software that is no longer updated are practical reasons to replace a phone. The current A-series gives you four price points rather than forcing you to wait for an unknown model.

You have a defined budget and feature list
If you know that you need a 120Hz display, 4K video, expandable storage or faster 45W wired charging, the current specifications let you choose immediately. Waiting has value only if a future phone might add something you actually need; otherwise it delays a purchase without a confirmed benefit.
You found an acceptable total price
Samsung’s listed U.S. starting prices are useful for setting a ceiling, but they are not guaranteed checkout totals. Sales, trade-in credits, carrier terms, storage configuration, taxes and inventory can change what you pay. A current model that fits after those conditions may be a better decision than waiting for a theoretical launch price.
When waiting makes sense
Your existing phone still does everything you need
Keeping a working phone avoids an unnecessary purchase. If your battery, camera, apps and network compatibility remain satisfactory, you can wait for a confirmed announcement or a later discount without taking a reliability risk.
You need a feature absent from today’s lineup
Write down the missing capability before you wait. Examples could include a particular camera function, a different storage policy, wireless charging or a size that is not offered. Without a specific requirement, “the next model may be better” is too vague to justify postponing a purchase.

You are shopping outside the United States
The evidence and prices in this guide are U.S.-specific. Samsung can use different names, memory configurations, bands, taxes, launch dates and promotions in other countries. Check your local Samsung site before treating the U.S. lineup or April 9 availability date as applicable to you.
You are comfortable with uncertainty
Samsung’s U.S. newsroom index shows the March A57/A37 announcement and a June 25, 2026 A27 item, but the cited pages do not give a later-generation launch date. A missing date on those pages is not proof that no other announcement exists. If you wait, set a check-in date and recheck Samsung’s official newsroom and local product pages rather than relying on rumor-based calendars.
Current U.S. models and starting prices
Samsung’s U.S. A-series page lists these models and starting prices. Each figure is a published starting price, not a promise of the live price for every storage version or sales channel.
| Model | Published U.S. starting price | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A57 5G | $549.99 | Buyers wanting the strongest display, camera support and charging specification in this group |
| Galaxy A37 5G | $449.99 | People seeking many of the upper-tier features at a lower entry price |
| Galaxy A27 5G | $349.99 | Midrange buyers who want a 120Hz screen and microSD support |
| Galaxy A17 5G | $249.99 | Those prioritizing the lowest entry price and basic 5G use |
Samsung’s March announcement separately gives $549.99 for the A57 5G and $449.99 for the A37 5G and identifies April 9, 2026 as their U.S. availability date. The A27 and A17 figures above come from Samsung’s current U.S. lineup page rather than a separate launch-price announcement.

How the four phones differ
Display and refresh rate
All four models are listed with 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED displays. The A17 is specified at 90Hz, while the A27, A37 and A57 are specified at 120Hz. Samsung identifies the A57 panel as Super AMOLED Plus. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and compatible games look smoother, but it does not by itself determine brightness, color accuracy or battery life.
Memory, storage and expansion
The entry configurations step up as the price rises:
| Model | Listed RAM and storage | microSD expansion |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A17 5G | 4GB RAM, 128GB storage | Up to 2TB |
| Galaxy A27 5G | 6GB RAM, 128GB storage | Up to 2TB |
| Galaxy A37 5G | 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB | Not supported |
| Galaxy A57 5G | 8GB with 128GB or 256GB storage | Not supported |
Regional variants can differ, so confirm the exact model number and storage before ordering. If you keep large photo, video or offline-map libraries, the A17 and A27’s stated microSD support may matter more than a small processor difference.
Battery and charging
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery for all four models. The A17 and A27 support up to 25W wired charging; the A37 and A57 support up to 45W. Samsung says the 45W Super Fast Charger is sold separately and recommends Samsung-approved chargers and cables. None of the four models is listed as supporting wireless charging.

“Up to” describes the charging capability, not a guaranteed time from empty to full. Actual speed depends on the charger, cable, temperature, battery level and software. Include the cost of a compatible charger if you are moving from a phone that included one.
Camera hardware and video
| Model | Main camera | Ultrawide | Macro | Maximum listed video |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A17 5G | 50MP | 5MP | 2MP | FHD at 30fps |
| Galaxy A27 5G | 50MP | 5MP | 2MP | 4K at 30fps |
| Galaxy A37 5G | 50MP | 8MP | 5MP | 4K at 30fps |
| Galaxy A57 5G | 50MP | 12MP | 5MP | 4K at 30fps |
All four list a 50MP main camera, but megapixel counts do not establish real-world image quality. Lens quality, stabilization, image processing, autofocus and low-light performance can produce larger differences than the headline number. Choose the A37 or A57 if the wider ultrawide specification and 4K recording are important; choose the A17 only if FHD recording meets your needs.

Samsung says supported devices including the A57 and A37 can receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. Samsung qualifies that commitment: availability and timing can vary by model and market. “Up to six” is therefore a maximum stated support commitment, not a guarantee that every country receives every update on the same day.

Long support makes buying a current generation easier to justify if you intend to keep it for several years. It also reduces the urgency to replace a phone merely because a successor is announced. Check the support policy for the exact regional variant, especially if you import a device.

A practical buy-now decision process
- Check urgency. If your current phone is failing, unsafe or no longer compatible with essential apps or networks, start with the models available now.
- Set an all-in budget. Add tax, shipping, storage upgrades, trade-in conditions and a 45W charger if you select the A37 or A57 and do not already own an approved charger.
- Choose non-negotiable features. Decide whether you require 120Hz, 4K video, microSD expansion, 256GB storage or 45W charging.
- Match the model. The A17 is the lowest-cost option; the A27 adds 120Hz, 6GB RAM and 4K recording; the A37 adds stronger supporting cameras and 45W charging; the A57 is the top listed model with an upgraded display designation and a 12MP ultrawide.
- Verify the exact listing. Confirm storage, RAM, unlocked or carrier status, network bands, seller, warranty region and return period. Do not assume every listing uses the same configuration shown on Samsung’s comparison page.
- Recheck the live price. Compare the final checkout total with Samsung’s published starting price and read the conditions attached to any trade-in or carrier promotion.
What to do if you decide to wait
- Define the trigger. For example, wait for a confirmed successor announcement, a specified camera feature or a price below a fixed amount.
- Set a deadline. If no announcement or discount appears by that date, reassess the current A57, A37, A27 and A17 rather than waiting indefinitely.
- Monitor official sources. Use Samsung’s local newsroom and product pages. Availability, names and specifications can differ by country.
- Protect your current phone. Keep backups, maintain security updates where available and budget for a battery replacement if that is cheaper than an emergency purchase.
- Recalculate the opportunity cost. A later phone may launch at a higher price, while a current model may receive a promotion sooner. Treat a possible discount as an option, not a guaranteed saving.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Calling the A57 or A37 “upcoming.” Both were announced in March 2026 and became available in the U.S. on April 9.
- Assuming a successor is imminent. The cited official pages do not provide a later-generation release date.
- Comparing only megapixels. Camera processing and lens performance are not captured by the 50MP label.
- Ignoring storage limits. The A37 and A57 do not list microSD support, while the A17 and A27 support cards up to 2TB.
- Budgeting for 45W charging without the accessory. Samsung says the compatible 45W charger is sold separately.
- Transferring U.S. assumptions to another country. Prices, configurations, network compatibility and launch timing may change by market.
Bottom line for different shoppers
Replace a failing phone now
Buy the current model that meets your requirements. The A17, A27, A37 and A57 are established U.S. options, so waiting for an unnamed successor adds uncertainty without a confirmed payoff.
Keep a working phone and want the newest possible model
Waiting is reasonable. Keep your deadline and feature target clear, and verify any future announcement through Samsung’s official local channels.
Want the best balance of features and price
Start with the A27 and A37 comparison: the A27 offers 120Hz, 4K video and microSD support at a lower starting price, while the A37 adds 45W charging and higher-resolution supporting cameras but gives up expandable storage.

The A57 is Samsung’s highest-priced current U.S. A-series model at a $549.99 starting price. Its 120Hz Super AMOLED Plus display designation, 12MP ultrawide, 4K video and 45W charging are the clearest reasons to pay more, provided the storage configuration and charger cost work for you.
