First, choose the right kind of WiiM product
WiiM sells products for different jobs. A streamer adds network playback to audio equipment you already own. A streaming amplifier powers passive speakers. A wireless smart speaker is a complete speaker for a room. If your goal is to add another room without assembling a separate audio system, WiiM Sound and Sound Lite are the direct options in the company’s product lineup.

WiiM’s help documentation explains that compatible WiiM devices can be grouped for synchronized playback, and that two devices can be assigned left and right channels for stereo. The current multi-room playback limit stated in the help article is 48 kHz/16-bit. That limit matters even if a product supports higher-resolution audio in another use: hi-res support does not mean every grouped-room stream plays at hi-res quality. WiiM’s multi-room setup guide also cautions that a speaker connected to a WiiM device over Bluetooth may not stay in sync with the other rooms.

How the Sound performs as a speaker
In its March 9, 2026 review, What Hi-Fi? reviewed WiiM Sound as a feature-rich, well-designed speaker that can be stereo-paired and grouped with other WiiM devices. The publication reported that two Sounds worked harmoniously in its review setup. Its reservation was sound quality: it rated sound 3/5, compared with 5/5 for features and build, and said the speaker needed substantial retuning to challenge class leaders. Those are the publication’s judgments, not a guarantee of how it will sound in your room. If audio performance is your main reason to upgrade, treat the feature set and the review’s sound-quality criticism as separate parts of the decision.
Is the October sale a reason to buy now?
