Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Remedy says New Game Plus is designed to broaden build experimentation, but some World Quests, bounties, collectibles, side stories, and conversations may be missed in a single run. Traversal abilities are the notable exception to the progress that carries over.
As of October 3, 2026, NG++ was announced as a planned October post-launch update, not confirmed here as already available. What should you finish before starting another run?
Use this as a personal checklist, not a 100% completion requirement. Remedy Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov says players may want to revisit optional content and outcomes they missed: not everything is necessarily found in one run.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- World Quests: Finish any you care about before leaving the current file.
- Bounties: Complete the ones you still want to do on this run.
- Collectibles: Pick up any remaining items you want to find before restarting.
- Side stories and conversations: Pursue outcomes that matter to you; some can differ.
Remedy’s [New Game Plus overview] explains that NG+ begins a fresh playthrough while keeping much of what you have earned. Its purpose includes giving players room to experiment with builds that could not be fully unlocked in one playthrough.

Forge connections crucial to Dylan’s fight to retain his humanity as he journeys from former test subject to paranatural superweapon

- SHARED LEGACY. NEW THREAT: FBC Director Jesse Faden's lockdown is no longer holding. A paranatural catastrophe has spilled beyond the Oldest House and onto the streets of Manhattan, and the Bureau's grip on containment is failing. Jesse Faden walked into the Oldest House to confront the threat within. Now Dylan must walk out of it to contain the threat beyond.
What carries over—and what must be earned again?
Remedy’s April 30, 2026 overview lists these as carrying into NG+:
- Aberrant upgrades
- Health and combat-ability resource improvements
- Unlocked supernatural combat abilities
- Talents
- Artifacts
Traversal abilities do not carry over. They are tied to story progression and how the world unfolds, so expect to regain them as you advance through the story. Remedy’s overview is the cited basis for these details; later patches could change the rules.

What changes in NG+?
A return run is more than a repeat with a stronger character. Remedy says the world escalates: enemies become more dangerous, encounters can shift, and some bosses may show new behaviors. NG+ also adds further talent nodes, allows multiple combat abilities from the same boss to be equipped, and unlocks another artifact slot.

You can equip up to three artifacts during the first playthrough; Remedy says a fourth slot unlocks in NG+. This is one reason not to delay another run just to complete every possible build: the expanded options are part of the replay.

Should you begin now or finish more first?
| Your priority | What makes sense |
|---|---|
| See optional content or narrative outcomes you still care about | Finish those World Quests, bounties, collectibles, side stories, or conversations first. |
| Try different ability combinations or expand a build | Start another run when ready; NG+ is designed to add room for build experimentation. |
| Avoid replaying story-gated traversal progression | Remember that traversal abilities must be regained through story progress. |
| Play NG++ specifically | Confirm that the October update has actually been released and installed for your platform. |
In short, start again when you are satisfied with the optional activities and outcomes you wanted from this run. If completion is your goal, do more first; if build experimentation or changed encounters is the draw, NG+ supports that without requiring a full clear.
How much time should you allow?
Remedy Communications Director Thomas Puha estimated the main story at 25 to 35 hours in a September 15, 2026 [PlayStation.Blog feature]. That is a developer estimate for the main story, not a measured duration for full completion or an NG+ run; completionists may spend longer.

What is confirmed about NG++?
A surfaced community post titled “Our initial post launch plans for CONTROL Resonant: NG++ coming in October, Photo Mode coming in November” points to Remedy’s initial post-launch plans: the community post. The linked official page was not accessible in the cited material, so an exact patch date, build number, rollout status, or final NG++ mechanics are not established here. Check official patch notes for your platform before planning around that mode.
