Its 1-inch-type main camera and 200MP long telephoto give it an unusually broad photography toolkit, but this is now a previous-generation phone: check newer alternatives, battery needs, size and local warranty before buying.
What makes the Xiaomi 15 Ultra distinctive?
Its defining feature is a four-camera rear system that covers ultrawide, standard, short-telephoto and long-telephoto views. Xiaomi’s global specifications list a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYT-900 1-inch sensor and optical stabilization, a 50MP 70mm-equivalent floating telephoto, a 200MP 100mm-equivalent periscope telephoto, and a 50MP 14mm-equivalent ultrawide. The front camera is 32MP. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of image quality in every situation. Xiaomi’s global specifications

The range is the strongest reason to choose the phone for photography: you can move from wide scenes to distant subjects without relying on a single main camera and digital zoom. GSMArena highlights the 200MP periscope as a major addition alongside the retained 1-inch-type main sensor. Stuff praises the camera range and image character, and Android Central also praises the main and 200MP telephoto cameras. Android Central did, however, report inconsistent HDR imagery in its review. The practical verdict is strong camera potential, not flawless results in every lighting condition.
Video and camera controls
Xiaomi lists rear-camera recording up to 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second. Its global product page specifically promotes 4K/120fps slow-motion recording with the main and 100mm periscope cameras. These are different claims about supported recording modes; feature availability can depend on regional software and updates. Xiaomi’s global product page

The separately sold Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit adds a handgrip, thumb grip, shutter-button caps and wrist strap, according to TechRadar. That reviewer found it improved camera handling. It is an optional extra for people who want physical controls and a camera-like hold, not a requirement to use the phone’s cameras. Check the kit’s regional edition and compatibility before purchasing.
How does it perform as a phone?
The global model pairs a Snapdragon 8 Elite with a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display. Xiaomi lists 16GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. That is premium hardware on paper, and TechRadar rated performance highly in its 2025 review; Stuff also praised performance and software. Those specifications and reviews make it a capable all-rounder, though they do not make it the newest option in 2026.

Thermals are less settled: Android Central reported occasional overheating during a month of use. Treat that as one reviewer’s experience, not a prediction that every unit will overheat. Intensive gaming, recording and other demanding tasks can differ from everyday use, and the available reviews do not establish a universal thermal outcome.

The global specifications list a typical 5,410mAh battery, 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Xiaomi says the power adapter and wireless chargers are sold separately. TechRadar reports that the Chinese model has a 6,000mAh battery, so the capacity of an imported phone may differ from the global version. Confirm the exact model rather than assuming all 15 Ultra variants match.

Battery life is a mixed review finding, not a fixed promise. TechRadar recorded about seven hours of screen-on time on the international phone it tested. Android Central said its reviewed phone lasted over a day, while Stuff found battery life short of class-leading. Workload, network, settings, software and region can all affect the result; buyers who prioritize endurance should check testing for the exact variant and their likely use.
What are the main drawbacks?
- Bulk: Stuff describes the phone as thicker and heavier than many rivals. Its prominent camera hardware makes handling worth checking in person if you prefer a compact phone.
- HDR consistency: Android Central reported inconsistent HDR results, so point-and-shoot processing may not satisfy everyone.
- Battery uncertainty: Regional capacity differs, and reviewer observations range from over a day to short of class-leading endurance.
- Extra accessory costs: The Photography Kit, power adapter and wireless chargers are sold separately according to Xiaomi’s global information.
- Generation and value: Xiaomi launched the 15 Ultra in China in February 2025 and overseas in March 2025, making it prior-generation hardware by 2026. Do not rely on launch-era value judgments or prices; compare the current local price with newer phones.
Is the Xiaomi 15 Ultra worth buying in 2026?
It can be a good buy for someone who values a broad, high-end camera system and can get the appropriate local version at a compelling current price. It is less convincing if you want the newest hardware, a compact design, the longest battery life, or consistently effortless HDR. The price is the deciding variable: check current local availability and compare the final cost, warranty and return terms rather than relying on historical launch pricing.

For a comparison with the newer Xiaomi 17 Ultra or other current camera phones, evaluate the exact devices on focal-length coverage and long-range image quality, main-camera low-light and HDR consistency, battery endurance, handling, video options, software support, local warranty and price. TechRadar’s 2026 review reports a 6,000mAh battery on its reviewed global Xiaomi 17 Ultra, compared with Xiaomi’s 5,410mAh global specification for the 15 Ultra. Battery capacity alone does not establish overall superiority.

What to verify before buying
- Confirm whether the listing is for the global or Chinese model, and check the battery, supported network bands, software and warranty for that exact variant.
- Ask the seller or local Xiaomi support about regional connectivity, AI-feature and software availability. Xiaomi notes that connectivity features, including Wi-Fi features, and AI availability can vary with region, local network support, language and software.
- Check the seller, local warranty and return policy, particularly for imported stock. Do not assume an imported phone has the same support or compatibility as local stock.
- Compare the current phone price with newer camera phones and include any separately purchased adapter, wireless charger or Photography Kit you actually need.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
