The vivo V40e is easiest to recommend for its slim design, large 120Hz AMOLED display and long battery life—not as a portrait-camera specialist. Its daylight main and selfie cameras impressed one independent reviewer, but low-light shots and ultrawide results were less convincing. It makes sense if comfort, screen size and endurance matter more than consistently strong cameras or top-tier performance.
What the vivo V40e offers
The V40e launched in India on September 25, 2024, with sales beginning October 2. vivo’s India specifications list a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Storage is not expandable. How it feels to use: slim, light and screen-focused
At 183g and 7.49mm thick, the V40e is relatively slim and light for a phone with a 6.77-inch display. In its hands-on review updated November 14, 2024, Gadgets 360 found the design visually appealing and comfortable to hold. Its curved AMOLED screen makes videos and games feel expansive; the reviewer found it bright enough for most conditions, though direct sunlight could still be a challenge. Gadgets 360 review

The rear finish is a practical weak point: the reviewer said it picked up fingerprints and was prone to scratches. Since vivo includes a case, using it is sensible if you want to protect the finish.
Battery life and charging are standout reasons to consider it
The 5,500mAh typical-capacity battery and support for charging up to 80W give the V40e its clearest advantage for buyers who do not want to charge frequently. Gadgets 360 reported more than a day of ordinary use. In that publication’s HD video-loop test, with the display set to 120Hz, the phone lasted over 32 hours; this is a specific reviewer-run test, not a promise of the same runtime in everyday use. Camera results: good daylight, less convincing at night
The rear setup pairs a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide. Up front is a 50MP autofocus camera. In Gadgets 360’s assessment, the main camera and selfie camera produced good daylight photos. Those strengths do not carry over equally to dim scenes: the reviewer found low-light performance weak, particularly for the ultrawide and selfie cameras. Everyday speed, games and software
Gadgets 360 reported smooth ordinary use, no major lag and generally decent gaming at the settings it tested. Its benchmark comparisons nevertheless placed the V40e behind several similarly priced phones in most tests. That makes it a reasonable everyday phone, but a less compelling pick if gaming performance or maximum processing power is your deciding factor. Funtouch OS 14 includes third-party apps. Who should buy the vivo V40e?
It may suit you if
- You want a slim, light phone with a large, high-refresh-rate AMOLED screen.
- Battery endurance and fast wired charging matter more than camera versatility.
- Your photos are mostly taken in daylight, and you value a capable main and selfie camera.
- You are satisfied with everyday performance rather than seeking class-leading gaming speed.
Look elsewhere if
- You need reliably strong low-light photos, a consistent ultrawide camera or polished portrait edges.
- You want the strongest performance available among phones at a similar live price.
- You need expandable storage or NFC.
- You want an immersion-resistant phone; IP64 does not establish that protection.
Gadgets 360 named the Nothing Phone 2a Plus as an alternative for distinctive design and better performance, and the OnePlus Nord 4 for better cameras and substantially higher performance.
