Its main caveats are that Philips says it cannot blend hot ingredients and lists the model as discontinued in Australia. The product name in Philips’ pages is HR2224/00; the “/AC” suffix in the supplied title is not confirmed as a distinct variant by the sources available here.
What is the Philips HR2224/00?
Philips identifies this appliance as the Series 5000 Blender Core, model HR2224/00. Its product page says, “Unfortunately this product is no longer available.” That status is specific to the regional Philips page and may not reflect every country or retailer, so treat any listing as a used, remaining, or otherwise region-specific offer until its status is confirmed. How the controls and blending claims translate
The HR2224/00 uses a rotary dial with three fixed speeds and a pulse function. It is a manual-control blender, not a preset-program model, so the user selects a speed rather than choosing a named smoothie or ice program.
Philips promotes ProBlend Crush and ice crushing for this model, including a “twice as fast” claim. Those are manufacturer descriptions; the cited product information does not establish an independent comparison or measured blending result. There is no hands-on performance measurement here to support a verdict on smoothie texture, crushing speed, or durability.

What to know about the jar, cleaning and hot ingredients
The jar is SAN plastic, and the blade is stainless steel. Philips says the blade unit is removable and detachable parts are dishwasher safe, which can simplify cleaning compared with a fixed blade assembly. Follow the instructions for the specific parts and avoid assuming every accessory is dishwasher safe unless its documentation says so. Philips product features
A practical limitation for soup preparation is that Philips’ specification table says the blender cannot blend hot ingredients. Let ingredients cool before blending, and consult the manual for use and care instructions rather than treating the appliance as suitable for hot liquids. Philips specification table

What to check before buying a discontinued unit
Because Philips marks the model discontinued on its Australian product page, a buyer should establish exactly what is being sold and whether it will work in their location. Warranty wording is a manufacturer claim and can depend on country, purchase date, and proof of purchase.
- Confirm the exact model on the rating label and whether the seller’s “/AC” suffix matches the product documentation.
- Check whether the unit is new, used, refurbished, or open-box, and review the seller’s return terms.
- Match the rating plate’s voltage and frequency to local electrical requirements; the referenced regional page lists 230 V and 50 Hz, which should not be assumed for every regional unit.
- Ask what warranty applies in your country and what proof of purchase is required.
- For a used unit, inspect the jar, lid, seals, blade and base, and confirm that replacement parts listed for HR2224/00 are actually available where you live.
Who should consider the Philips HR2224/00?
It may suit someone seeking a simple manual blender with a 1.5 L working capacity, pulse control, removable blade assembly and a plastic jar, provided a correctly specified unit is available from a seller whose condition, returns and warranty terms are acceptable. It is a poor fit if you need a blender Philips specifies for hot ingredients, want preset programs, or cannot verify local electrical compatibility.
