The Nothing Phone (3a) is a strong midrange choice if you want a distinctive design, a bright 120 Hz display and a versatile three-camera system without paying flagship prices. Its appeal depends on the price and configuration available where you live: there is no eSIM, protection is rated IP64, and U.S. buyers should confirm carrier compatibility for the exact model before ordering.
What the Nothing Phone (3a) offers
Nothing’s published European specifications list a 6.77-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 5,000 mAh battery and three rear cameras, including a 50 MP telephoto camera. Distinctive design and software
GSMArena praised the glass-backed design, Nothing’s software and the bright OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also called out the speakers and the Essential Key, a dedicated physical button. Tom’s Guide likewise highlighted the phone’s distinctive appearance and colorful screen. The Essential Key’s prominent placement may not suit everyone, however.

Flexible rear cameras
The three-camera setup includes a 50 MP telephoto camera, giving the 3a a useful reach beyond a typical main-and-ultrawide pairing. GSMArena reported strong all-around camera performance, while Tom’s Guide praised consistency across the cameras. Those are review findings, not a guarantee of results in every scene. For video, GSMArena noted that 4K recording is limited to the main camera.
Good value, subject to local pricing
GSMArena found the launch pricing competitive and said the standard Phone (3a) could be a better value than the Pro for buyers who do not need the Pro’s periscope camera. Tom’s Guide reviewed a U.S. model at $379 in March 2025; that is historical review pricing, not a current offer. Nothing’s UK listing displayed £299 for the selected 8 GB/128 GB black configuration when accessed on October 7, 2026, but it was marked sold out. Nothing’s European product page showed starting-price context of €329 for the page’s selected configurations. What to consider before buying
Protection and charging
The official specification lists IP64 dust and water resistance. GSMArena considers this a weaker rating than some competing phones offer, so do not treat the 3a as a phone designed for submersion. GSMArena also reports that a charger is not included in the box; check the listing for your region and seller to confirm exactly what is supplied. WIRED notes that the phone does not support wireless charging.

Connectivity and U.S. availability
The official European specification says the Phone (3a) does not support eSIM. In the U.S., launch-era reviews described constrained availability and potential carrier complications; those reports date from March 2025 and do not establish current retail access or universal compatibility. WIRED’s reviewer reported working service on T-Mobile and Google Fi, and said AT&T and Verizon 5G might require carrier whitelisting. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee for every device or account. Before buying in the U.S., identify the exact SKU and ask your carrier to confirm network bands, 5G access and device acceptance.
Performance and size
GSMArena reported performance without thermal throttling in its review, while Tom’s Guide described the improvement over the Phone 2a as modest. Neither finding establishes how the phone will perform in every workload. The 6.77-inch screen is large; if you want a compact handset, consider the phone’s dimensions and weight in person or against the exact alternatives you are considering.

Choose the Phone (3a) if its local price is compelling and you value its design, large high-refresh AMOLED screen, telephoto camera and Nothing software.
