Five reasons to pick one up
1. It puts Apple services on a shared screen
HomeView gives a kitchen, hallway or living room a permanent Apple interface. Household members can ask Siri for information, play Apple Music or podcasts, view Apple News and Apple TV content, send Messages, use Find My and make FaceTime calls. Apple says it can sit on a tabletop or be mounted on a wall.
2. Personalization is built for multiple people
Face recognition supports up to six people. Each recognized user can receive a personal Home Screen, apps and widgets, while shared albums and music remain available to everyone. That combination is more practical for a family than a single account that exposes one person’s calendar, recommendations or messages to the entire household.

4. Communication and household tasks are central features
FaceTime uses Center Stage to keep callers framed. Users can send Messages by voice or on screen, broadcast through Intercom, locate items with Find My and run hands-free timers. A recipe can be converted into step-by-step instructions, while Live Activities can keep changing information visible in a shared space.

5. The audio hardware could make it a useful speaker
Apple describes two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer, force-cancelling passive radiators, computational audio and Spatial Audio. HomeView can also join multiroom playback with HomePod, HomePod mini and AirPlay-compatible speakers. These are Apple’s specifications and capabilities; independent listening tests were not available at launch.
Two reasons to hold off
1. Siri AI is still conditional and in beta
Apple says Siri AI arrives in beta with HomeView software version 27.2. Personal-context requests require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, a supported language and current software. Some server-side features have daily usage limits. If you expect a mature, unrestricted AI assistant, waiting for broader availability and independent testing is sensible.

2. Compatibility, region and total cost reduce the audience
Setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad. Some content requires subscriptions, and some functions require a paired iPhone nearby. Apple says HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
Wall mounting is not included. A separate Schneider Home mount is required; Apple’s UK listing gives starting prices of £54.95 for USB-C, £69.95 for AC Wired and £119.95 for PoE Wired, with the PoE model planned for early 2027. Add those prices, any required smart-home accessories and ongoing media subscriptions to the £299 device price before deciding.
