It may be worth considering if you want an inexpensive glass-container air fryer and are comfortable with some trial and error—but it is not an easy recommendation for everyone. In a hands-on account updated on 6 August 2026, CHOICE journalist James Worsfold reported crisp roast potatoes and well-cooked chicken, but uneven vegetables, limited temperature information and awkward handling. The appliance also includes a non-stick crisping tray, so its glass containers do not make it entirely non-stick-free.
What do you get, and how much food does it hold?
Kmart Australia lists the Anko Portable Glass Air Fryer as SKU P_43695461. It comes with two glass containers, listed at 4.5 L and 2.5 L, but those figures are container volumes—not the retailer’s stated maximum food capacities. Kmart gives maximum food capacities of 3.4 L for the large container and 1.5 L for the small one. Keep the distinction in mind when comparing it with appliances that advertise basket or usable cooking capacity.

CHOICE says the box also includes the heating element, a non-stick crisping tray, a silicone heat mat and one plastic lid that fits both containers for food storage. The product page does not establish compatibility with replacement bowls, lids or trays from other models.

These specifications are from Kmart Australia’s product listing. Kmart says the appliance was tested to applicable Australian electrical safety standards and certified compliant, but the page surfaced for this information does not name a specific standard or show a certificate.

How well does it cook?
CHOICE’s findings are one reviewer’s experience using the appliance over several sharehouse dinners, not a published model-specific lab score or a promise of typical results. The results he described varied by food:
- Roast potatoes: Worsfold reported that they became crispy after 30 minutes on the air-fry function, even without the crisping tray.
- Chicken breast: He described it as cooked to perfection after using the tray.
- Vegetables: Brussels sprouts, onion and corn were charred in places and undercooked in others, even after shaking. He thought the tray might have helped produce a more even result.
The takeaway is not that the unit reliably cooks well or poorly across the board. The reported results suggest food choice and use of the tray can matter, and that you may need to experiment with placement and timing. The manual, according to CHOICE, says to “cook ONLY one type of food at a time.” The reviewer found mixed vegetables seemed to cook at the same rate when tried together, but that single experience does not override the manual’s instruction.

Does the glass format make it non-stick-free?
No. The two cooking containers are glass, but the package includes a non-stick crisping tray. CHOICE’s reviewer found that the tray improved results for chicken and might have helped with vegetables. If avoiding non-stick cooking surfaces is a priority, consider whether you are willing to cook without that tray—and accept the possibility of different results—or choose a model with a cooking surface that better matches your preference. CHOICE noted that the Healthy Choice and Dreame glass models it discussed use a stainless-steel inner tray; check the exact model and current specifications before buying.

CHOICE also mentioned stainless-steel air-fryer trays sold online for around AUD 10–30, but did not establish that any of them fit this Kmart appliance. Do not assume a replacement tray is compatible based on a similar shape or advertised diameter; verify fit and product compatibility before purchase.

What are the controls and learning curve like?
The presets use pre-programmed times and temperatures. CHOICE says you can change cooking time up to 60 minutes, but cannot adjust or view the temperature on the display. As Worsfold put it: “The actual temperatures are not displayed or mentioned anywhere, so you really need to guess which function will work best, without knowing what temperature it is cooking at.” The manual offers suggested functions and cooking times, but he found its ingredient guidance limited.
This may suit someone willing to learn by checking food and adjusting time, but it is a drawback if you want precise temperature control or clear feedback about the cooking conditions. One useful feature of the format is visibility: Worsfold noted, “One of the key advantages with the glass cooking container is that you can keep an eye on the food as it cooks.”

Is it easy and safe to handle?
CHOICE describes the glass containers as getting very hot, with small handles that can make removal awkward. It also found removing the heating element difficult and warned that the appliance may be inaccessible for people with limited dexterity. CHOICE reported that its testing of glass air-fryer baskets measured temperatures above 100°C; that figure is about the glass baskets it tested, not a stated measurement of this specific Kmart model.
Plan for a stable, heat-resistant place to set hot parts down, and take care when lifting or separating the heating element and container. The included silicone heat mat provides a place to rest the hot unit, but the small handles and lifting demands remain relevant considerations when deciding whether this design works for you.

What happens if the heating unit is lifted during cooking?
CHOICE says lifting the heating unit switches the appliance off. The manual indicates cooking should resume when the container is replaced, unless the unit has been off for more than five minutes. Worsfold reported that his unit stopped after he replaced it several times. That is a fault he encountered during his use, not evidence that every unit behaves this way.
How does the price and warranty compare?
Prices below are dated observations, not guaranteed current offers. Kmart’s Australian product listing displayed AUD 89 on clearance, previously AUD 99, when accessed on 7 October 2026. CHOICE’s article, last updated 6 August 2026, described the Kmart model at AUD 99, portable glass models from Ninja and Dreame at around AUD 300, and a bulkier Healthy Choice glass model available for under AUD 120 through online marketplaces including Amazon or Big W at that time.

Kmart’s listing specifies a 12-month warranty. CHOICE noted that the Dreame and Ninja glass models it discussed had two-year warranties, and that Australian Consumer Law also applies. Warranty information and consumer rights depend on the purchase and jurisdiction; check the current listing and applicable terms before buying.

It is most plausible for an Australian buyer who values being able to see food cooking, wants two glass containers and finds the current price attractive, while accepting preset temperatures and some uncertainty in cooking results. It is less compelling if you need comfortable, easy lifting; consistent results without experimentation; visible or adjustable temperature; or a cooking surface with no non-stick component.
Before choosing it over a conventional drawer fryer or another glass model, compare the whole setup rather than just the headline capacity or price:
