Wait unless you are specifically collecting the announced physical Limited Edition. Eternal Anima is an unreleased, single-player JRPG with time travel, object-memory reading, class inheritance and turn-based battles that let you preview and alter enemy actions. The information currently confirmed by Marvelous establishes the platforms, physical editions and a March 2027 launch window, but not final digital pricing, retailer inventory, reviews or early access.
That makes wishlisting the sensible choice for most players. A preorder is easier to justify for a collector who wants the Limited Edition soundtrack, art cards and art book and accepts buying before independent reviews.

What Eternal Anima is
Eternal Anima is a story-driven, single-player Japanese role-playing game from Marvelous. Its setting is a kingdom where hoping for a better future is a capital offense. The protagonist, Wade, moves across different eras while trying to change the circumstances that created the present. Marvelous USA’s official description summarizes the premise with the line, “To free the present, one must save the past…”

The adventure spans four lost continents and a false paradise called Urvis Ael. The game’s central systems are designed around investigating that history rather than simply moving from one conventional dungeon to the next.

Psychometry turns objects into evidence
Wade can use Psychometry to read memories embedded in objects. In practical terms, an item is more than equipment or scenery: examining it can reveal information about people, places or events connected to the object. The published material does not specify how many objects are readable, how often the ability can be used, or whether every memory is optional, so those details remain to be demonstrated in the finished game.
Classes and abilities can be inherited
Eternal Anima allows Wade to combine inherited classes and abilities. That suggests a build system in which skills from different characters or roles can be carried forward and recombined, rather than a party being locked permanently into one class. Marvelous and Steam have not yet published a complete class list, level cap, respec rule or equipment table.
Future Sight changes the turn-based battle flow
Future Sight lets the player preview enemy actions and rewrite the battle flow. Instead of reacting only after an opponent attacks, you can plan around what the enemy is expected to do and alter the sequence of events. The announcements do not establish whether every action can be changed, what resource limits the ability, or how it interacts with bosses, status effects and random encounters. Those unanswered questions matter for judging the system’s depth, but the underlying idea is clear: prediction and intervention are core parts of combat.

These dates should be treated as storefront or regional scheduling differences, not as three confirmed launch times for every player. A store can display a date based on its local time zone, release calendar or regional publishing schedule. Check the platform’s listing for your country as launch approaches.

Which editions are announced?
Marvelous USA has announced physical Standard and Limited Editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical preorders are to be offered through participating retailers and Marvelous USA’s online store, but the announcement does not provide a complete retailer list, country-by-country availability or a preorder start date.
| Edition | PlayStation 5 | Nintendo Switch 2 | Contents currently stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard physical | $49.99 | $59.99 | Game software in a physical package. |
| Limited Edition physical | $79.99 | $89.99 | Game, two-disc soundtrack, nine character art cards with display stand, and an art book. |
Those are the prices stated by Marvelous USA in 2026 for the announced physical editions. They are regional US dollar prices and should not be assumed to include tax, shipping or equivalent pricing in another country. The $30 premium over the Standard Edition is the same on both listed platforms, but the Switch 2 editions each cost $10 more than their PS5 counterparts.

What the Limited Edition adds
The Limited Edition includes four types of collectible content:
- A two-disc soundtrack: a physical music set rather than a download code.
- Nine character art cards: the cards come with a display stand.
- An art book: a printed book focused on the game’s visual material.
- The game itself: the same core software sold in the Standard Edition.
The announcement does not state the soundtrack’s track count, the art book’s page count, card dimensions, packaging details or whether supplies are numbered. Do not infer those specifications from the word “Limited.” Availability may depend on the participating retailer and country.
Digital editions are still an open question
Marvelous USA explicitly deferred digital-edition details to a later announcement. There is therefore no confirmed US digital price, digital preorder date, digital bonus list or final Digital Deluxe contents in the available publisher material.

Is there early access?
No official early-access period has been announced. Steam currently offers a wishlist option and labels Eternal Anima as not yet available; it does not show an Early Access branch. The publisher and corporate release information also provide no preview period for preorder customers, no review-access schedule and no paid trial window.
A demo has not been confirmed by the cited official sources either. If you want hands-on evidence before buying, the practical options are to wait for an officially announced demo or for independent reviews after review copies and the final release are available. Do not assume that a preorder automatically grants early play.
Should you preorder the Standard or Limited Edition?
Your decision turns on three separate questions: whether you need to play on launch day, whether you value physical collectibles, and how comfortable you are buying before reviews.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Choose the Standard physical edition when
- You want a physical copy but do not need the soundtrack, cards or art book.
- You are choosing PS5 or Switch 2 and want to keep the upfront price lower.
- You prefer to wait for launch impressions while still reserving a physical copy through an authorized seller.
Choose the Limited Edition when
- You collect physical JRPG editions and the four announced extras have genuine value to you.
- You are buying on PS5 or Switch 2, the two platforms for which the physical Limited Edition is currently announced.
- You accept that the game is unreleased and that the contents, price and availability are based on the publisher’s 2026 announcement.
Wait for reviews or a demo when
- You need evidence about story quality, performance, difficulty balance or the depth of Future Sight.
- You are deciding between physical and digital and want final digital pricing or bonuses.
- You play on Xbox Series X|S or PC and are looking for a confirmed physical alternative, since the current announcement describes those platforms without an announced physical edition.
Platform-by-platform buying considerations
Nintendo Switch 2
Switch 2 has the highest announced physical prices: $59.99 for Standard and $89.99 for Limited. It is the appropriate choice if portable play is important and you want the announced cartridge-based retail option, but verify the package and regional stock before paying. The release date given by Marvelous USA is March 4, 2027.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
PlayStation 5
PS5 has the lowest announced physical prices: $49.99 for Standard and $79.99 for Limited. Both physical editions are announced for this platform. The date given by Marvelous USA is March 4, 2027, subject to the platform’s local release schedule.
Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Series X|S is confirmed as a launch platform, but the cited materials do not announce an Xbox physical edition or physical Limited Edition. If you prefer Xbox, wait for the regional digital listing and final price rather than assuming that the PS5 package or its bonuses will be offered on Xbox.
Windows PC through Steam
Steam is the only PC storefront identified in the announcement. Its page lists Marvelous Inc. as developer, the three publishing entities, single-player support and no user reviews yet. The page currently shows March 3, 2027 and not-yet-available status, while the Japanese corporate schedule specifies March 5 for Steam. Check the listing in your own region before launch and do not confuse the displayed date with an early-access start.

What is still unknown before release?
Several purchase-critical details have not been published in the cited announcements:
- Final digital prices and the contents of any regional Deluxe or bonus editions outside the Japanese MSRP listing.
- Digital preorder timing, preorder bonuses and whether any platform receives an exclusive item.
- Whether the physical editions are stocked in your country and which retailers will participate.
- Performance targets, resolution, frame-rate modes and save-transfer behavior between platforms.
- Length of the campaign, optional content, difficulty settings and the exact rules governing Psychometry, class inheritance and Future Sight.
- Any demo, review-access timing or other hands-on opportunity before launch.
These are not minor omissions if you are deciding whether to pay months before release. Treat the announced editions and dates as a release plan, not as a complete technical review.
How to buy without overcommitting
- Pick the platform first. Confirm that your console or PC meets the final platform listing and that you are comfortable with the announced regional date.
- Decide whether physical extras matter. On PS5 and Switch 2, compare the $30 premium with the soundtrack, nine cards and art book rather than assuming the Limited Edition contains additional in-game content.
- Check the seller’s regional listing. Confirm that the retailer is one of the participating sellers announced by Marvelous USA, and verify tax, shipping, cancellation and return terms.
- Recheck digital information before paying. Digital prices and bonuses were deferred, so a later store update may change which option offers the best value.
- Do not pay for supposed early access without an official statement. Current official listings provide a wishlist and planned release date, not an Early Access entitlement.
Bottom line for different buyers
A collector on PS5 or Switch 2 has a clear reason to preorder: the Limited Edition’s physical soundtrack, displayable art cards and art book are the only announced extras, and the US prices are $79.99 and $89.99 respectively. A player who mainly wants to know whether the combat and time-travel story work should wishlist the game and wait for reviews, a demo or final digital details. Xbox and PC buyers should also wait for their regional storefront information because the current announcement does not establish a physical Limited Edition for those platforms.
