TMZ also reported that the post included a screenshot that appeared to show affectionate messages from Musk as recently as September 24, including him calling Zilis his “significant other” and saying he loved her. The messages are described here as screenshot-based reporting; the reporting cited for this story does not independently authenticate them.
What is known about their family and professional connection?
The Washington Post reported that Zilis testified Musk offered to donate sperm for IVF in 2020 and that they had twins in 2021. That earlier chronology provides family context, but does not establish the details of their relationship or the reason for its end.

Zilis has also held professional roles at Musk companies. The Washington Post describes her as a longtime confidante and reports executive and advisory roles; Inc. identifies her as Neuralink’s director and a former OpenAI board member.
