Standard Edition: the base-game option
The Standard Edition is the straightforward purchase for someone who wants the core game and does not need the Deluxe extras. It is the appropriate comparison point when a store presents multiple listings, because every premium package builds on this base.

The listed Starter Pack includes the currency but does not state an amount or a separate cash value. Do not assume a particular number of currency units when comparing store listings.
SEGA Villains Stage
This crossover stage features Goro Majima, Dr. Eggman and Death Adder. It is the Deluxe bundle’s additional stage content, so buyers who specifically want the crossover are the clearest candidates for paying for Deluxe rather than Standard.
Digital Art Book and Soundtrack
The bundle also supplies a digital art book and soundtrack. These are downloadable extras rather than the hardcover book and soundtrack CD found in the Collector’s Edition.

Early-access qualification
SEGA advertised up to 72 hours of early access for Deluxe pre-orders, excluding Nintendo Switch. That was a pre-order promotion, not a permanent gameplay feature. A normal post-launch Deluxe purchase should be judged by the listed content, and a Switch buyer should not expect the advertised early-access window.

Switch 2 edition: what changes
Nintendo lists a Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Edition released on September 24, 2026. Its documented bundle contents are the same core Deluxe package: the base game, Starter Pack, SEGA Villains Stage, and Digital Art Book plus Soundtrack. Nintendo also lists 1080p handheld presentation.
Switch and Switch 2 are not interchangeable for saves
Nintendo says save data can move from the original Switch to Switch 2. The direction is one-way: save data created on Switch 2 cannot be carried back to the original Switch. If you expect to alternate between consoles, plan the move before making the newer system your primary machine.
- Finish or back up any play session you still need on the original Switch.
- Use Nintendo’s system transfer process to move the relevant save data to Switch 2.
- After the transfer, treat the Switch 2 save as the forward version; Nintendo’s stated restriction prevents transferring that newer save back to Switch.

Is SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance digital only?
No, but physical availability depends on both platform and edition. SEGA’s official product information states: “No physical version available for PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.” That means buyers on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam should plan around digital distribution unless a later regional announcement changes the position.

At the same time, Limited Run Games supplied region-free physical Standard, Classic and Collector’s editions for Switch, PS5 and Xbox. This creates an important platform-specific distinction: a limited-run listing may exist even though SEGA’s general product page says no physical version for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Because the two statements do not describe the same distribution channel, verify the exact console compatibility printed on the listing before paying for a resale copy.

Limited Run physical editions
The limited-run range is aimed at buyers who want a boxed object rather than the simplest digital purchase. The listings were region-free, but region-free does not remove the need to check the platform label, included code and seller’s current condition description.
Physical Standard Edition
Limited Run Games listed the physical Standard Edition at $39.99. The listing included the game plus Ghost Outfit, SEGA Villains Stage DLC, Medic Lite Amulet, Digital Art Book and Soundtrack. That is materially different from SEGA’s digital Standard description because this particular physical listing bundled Deluxe-style extras. The listing is now marked sold out, so $39.99 is a historical listing price, not a promise of current availability or resale value.

Collector’s Edition
The Collector’s Edition was listed at $199.99 and is marked sold out/in production. Its documented contents are:
- The game with the listed DLC.
- Deluxe Clamshell Case.
- Soundtrack CD.
- Hardcover artbook.
- SteelBook.
- Eight-inch Joe Musashi statue.
- Individually numbered Shikishi art board.
- New SEGA Visions magazine.
The PC edition includes a digital Steam code. That detail is significant for collectors who want the physical presentation but play on PC: the package is not a boxed PC disc according to the documented listing.
What “sold out/in production” means for a buyer
These labels describe the status shown on the referenced listings, not a guaranteed delivery date or a live resale supply. If you encounter a secondary-market offer, inspect whether it is sealed, whether the included DLC code has been redeemed, and whether the seller identifies the exact platform. A sealed collector package and a used copy with consumed digital codes are not equivalent purchases.

Buying by platform
PlayStation 5
Start by deciding whether you want an immediately available digital copy or a limited-run box. PS5 is one of the platforms for which Limited Run Games supplied physical editions, while the digital Standard and Deluxe structures remain the cleanest way to compare the base game with the add-ons.
PlayStation 4
SEGA’s product information rules out a physical PS4 release. Select the digital edition that matches your interest in the Deluxe content; do not pay a premium to a seller advertising an official PS4 disc without independently confirming its authenticity and compatibility.
Xbox
Xbox requires the most careful checking. SEGA states that no physical version is available for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, yet Limited Run Games listed an Xbox physical edition. Read the exact platform designation on any listing and confirm whether it is intended for Xbox One, Series X|S, or another Xbox distribution arrangement before ordering.
Nintendo Switch
For the original Switch, compare digital Standard or Deluxe with the limited-run physical offerings. If you value a cartridge and can find a legitimate copy, check which bonuses are included; the documented $39.99 physical Standard listing included DLC and digital extras that are not part of the ordinary Standard description.
Switch 2
Use Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing for the September 24, 2026 release. Its Deluxe bundle and 1080p handheld presentation are documented, but do not treat it as a generic name for every Switch copy. Save transfer is supported from Switch to Switch 2, not in reverse.

Steam
SEGA says there is no physical Steam version. A PC collector package can still include a digital Steam code, as documented for the Collector’s Edition, but the game entitlement is delivered digitally.

Pre-purchase checklist
- Identify the hardware. Write down the exact system: PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Series X|S, original Switch or Switch 2, or Steam. Similar names do not guarantee the same physical support.
- Choose content. Select Standard if the base game is enough. Select Deluxe if you specifically want the Ghost Outfit, Medic Lite Amulet, in-game currency, SEGA Villains Stage, digital art book and soundtrack.
- Check promotion language. Early access was advertised for up to 72 hours on Deluxe pre-orders, excluding Nintendo Switch. Do not count it as a current entitlement unless the store explicitly states it.
- Inspect physical status. Limited-run listings were marked sold out, and the Collector’s Edition was marked sold out/in production. A reseller’s price is not the original list price.
- Verify included codes. Ask whether DLC or the Steam code has been redeemed. A used box may no longer deliver the digital bonuses shown in the original listing.
- Plan Switch saves. If moving from Switch to Switch 2, complete the transfer with the one-way limitation in mind.
- Keep price context. Japanese yen figures from SEGA and dollar figures from Limited Run Games come from different markets and listings; compare them only after accounting for region, tax, shipping and stock status.

Nintendo’s stated transfer direction is Switch to Switch 2. Once a save has moved forward and changed on Switch 2, plan as though it cannot be restored to the original Switch.
Paying collector prices for a package with used codes
The physical listings included downloadable content, and the PC Collector’s Edition included a Steam code. Confirm code redemption status before treating a second-hand package as complete.
