It also displayed a EUR 279.60 bid and a EUR 282.30 ask. These figures describe one time-stamped indication, not a continuously current price or the NYSE’s own quote in euros.
What the EUR 280.95 figure represents
The figure comes from AD HOC NEWS’s report of a Lang & Schwarz pre-market indication. Its stated comparison was with the venue’s reference close of EUR 281.50 on October 7, 2026: a decrease of EUR 0.55, reported as 0.20%. The percentage is therefore tied to that reference and venue, rather than a claim about every market where Sherwin-Williams shares trade.

Sherwin-Williams identifies its common stock as listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SHW. The euro-denominated indication in the news report is attributed to Lang & Schwarz; it should not be mistaken for the NYSE’s listed trading currency or an NYSE closing price. Sherwin-Williams investor information identifies the company and its stock listing.

How to read the bid and ask
Alongside the indication, the October 8 report listed a bid of EUR 279.60 and an ask of EUR 282.30. A bid is the displayed price buyers are offering; an ask is the displayed price sellers are seeking. They are separate quote sides, not additional closing prices. The report does not establish that a trade occurred at either price.

The indication changed later that day
A later October 8 AD HOC NEWS report gave a Lang & Schwarz indication of EUR 286.35. That is a separate snapshot, not a correction to the earlier 7:41 a.m. report. A price comparison is meaningful only with its timestamp and reference: the available reports do not establish why the indication changed.
Company results are context, not an explanation for this quote
Sherwin-Williams’ July 28, 2026 release covered the quarter ended June 30. The company reported net sales of $6.79 billion, up 7.5% from the prior-year quarter; adjusted diluted earnings per share of $3.70, up 9.5%; and net income of $843.6 million, up 11.8%. It also cited broad cost inflation and said an 8% Paint Stores Group price increase took effect September 1. The company announced that it would report third-quarter results before market open on October 27, 2026. That was a future reporting date relative to the October 8 quote, not an available explanation for it. The date was stated in the company’s earnings announcement.
