The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal (black model RV3020XE) is a strong carpet vacuum with a mopping system that independent reviewers describe as weaker. Its suction results on carpet are the reason to consider it. Its wet-floor and drying-time results are the reason to pause, and the sale price is the factor that makes the trade-off easier to accept for some households.

Which model this review covers

This review covers the black RV3020XE. Shark also lists a white RV3030XE version. Before comparing listings or reviews, check the model number on the product page, because the two names are easy to confuse and the reviews discussed here were written about the RV3020XE. The older PowerDetect model, the RV2820ZE, is a different machine. RTINGS tested that predecessor, so its results should not be read as performance data for the RV3020XE.

What Shark says the robot does

Shark markets the RV3020XE as a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop. Its headline features are UV Stain Detect, which uses ultraviolet light to reveal hidden messes; HyperSonic Mopping, which Shark describes as a targeted scrubbing pattern for those spots; a NeverTouch Pro base; NeuroNav AI navigation; a washable pre-motor fabric filter; and an anti-tangle brushroll. Shark says the UV system works alongside an RGB color camera to find messes, a combination it presents as a first for robot vacuums and mops. That is a manufacturer claim, and this article does not treat it as independently verified market history.

These are manufacturer figures from the product page, accessed October 7, 2026. They are not results from an independent lab. Battery runtime and cleaning path in a real home will depend on floor type, suction mode and obstacles.

What the base does

According to Shark, the NeverTouch Pro base empties the robot’s debris bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and thermally dries the mop pad between runs. That automation reduces hands-on upkeep, but it does not remove the need to check water levels, clean the brushroll and replace consumables.

What is in the box

  • The robot vacuum and mop
  • The NeverTouch Pro base
  • Two side brushes
  • A 12-ounce multi-surface cleaner starter bottle
  • An odor-neutralizer assembly
  • One antimicrobial mop pad

Shark describes the mop pad as antimicrobial and says sanitizing and bacteria-reduction results were established in controlled third-party lab conditions when its sanitization instructions are followed. Those results describe the tested conditions, not your whole home or your health. Do not read them as a guarantee of disinfection across floors, rugs or surfaces the robot does not clean.

Carpet pickup: the strongest part of the review

Vacuum Wars gave the RV3020XE an 88% carpet deep-clean result in its 2026 testing. That is the publication’s own test score, measured under its own protocol, and it should not be read as a universal suction rating for the machine. It is the most favorable independent result in the sources reviewed here, and it is the main reason the “stellar carpet suction” half of the headline is supported.

  • NEURONAV AI – Identifies and navigates your home’s layout using RGB Sensors, lasers, and an UltraRange Camera—lifting and maneuvering around obstacles like a pro. Yes, even through a minefield of kid or pet toys!

Pet hair: reviewers disagree on how much it matters

Vacuum Wars says pet-hair pickup performed well above average in its tests. PCWorld is more cautious about the robot’s comparative appeal for homes where pet-hair pickup is the top priority. These are different judgments made in different testing contexts, so neither should be presented as the final word. If pet hair is your main concern, compare the RV3020XE against models that were tested on the same pet-hair protocol before deciding.

Mopping: the stain score and the wet-floor problem

The mopping picture is split. In Vacuum Wars’ testing, the RV3020XE scored 183 on dried stains, which the publication describes as strong. The same review reports extremely high water use and floors that took more than 30 minutes to dry. Those are two separate outcomes. A robot can clean a stain well and still leave a floor wet for longer than many households want, and the reviewer treated both results as part of the mopping verdict.

The “subpar mopping” judgment in the headline rests mainly on this wetness and drying behavior, not on a finding that every reviewer saw poor stain removal. If you use the robot on hardwood or laminate, where standing water and long drying times matter most, weigh the drying result more heavily than the stain score. The reported drying time was measured in one publisher’s test, so your floor, room temperature and humidity will change the result.

App control and mapping

TechRadar’s hands-on review found initial setup and first-time mapping straightforward. It also reported that the reviewer had difficulty updating floor-type mapping after setup, noted expected app features that were missing, and described software bugs during testing. Those observations come from one reviewer and one period of testing. Firmware updates may have changed the app since then, so check the current app’s floor-type settings and feature list after you set up the robot.

PCWorld says the UV Reveal is easiest to recommend at its sale price, particularly for homes where mopping matters more than carpet or pet-hair pickup. That reasoning is the clearest buying case in the sources. A carpet-heavy home gets the strongest measured result. A hard-floor home that depends on wet mopping has to accept the water use and drying time reported above.

Launch channels named in Shark’s announcement were SharkNinja.com, Amazon, Costco and Best Buy. This review did not confirm current stock, offers or sellers on any of them, so check the listing at the point of purchase.

Replacement parts and supplies

Shark lists a multi-surface cleaner starter bottle with the robot. Refills, model-matched mop pads, side brushes and filters are sold separately or as replacements. Shark’s robot-parts portal lets you search by model number. Search results are not proof that a given part fits the RV3020XE, so confirm the exact part number against your model before buying a replacement.

Check the model number on the robot and base before ordering anything. The RV3020XE and RV3030XE are both listed, and parts for one may not match the other.

The Bottom Line

Buy the RV3020XE if carpet pickup is the priority and you can accept a wetter mopping routine and long drying times. At the reported sale price, it is most sensible for homes where mopping matters more than carpet or pet-hair pickup. If pet hair or wet hard floors are your main concern, compare it against robots tested on the same criteria before you commit.
