What the Shark IZ102 offers
Shark Clean Australia identifies the IZ102 as a cordless vacuum that converts from stick to handheld use. Its floor nozzle has a self-cleaning brushroll, swivel steering and LED headlights. Shark describes the brushroll’s bristle-guard design as helping separate hair from the brushroll. That is a design claim, not evidence that hair will never wrap or that the vacuum has been independently shown to remove hair effectively.

How the floor settings work
Hard Floor
Shark says this setting is for bare floors and small area rugs. The brushroll runs more slowly than in Carpet mode.
Carpet
Carpet mode runs the brushroll faster for deeper pickup, according to Shark. The company also recommends this setting when trying to let the self-cleaning brushroll clear hair over a bare floor or low-pile rug.
Boost
Boost adds power while its trigger is held. The published 40-minute Standard-mode figure does not establish runtime in Boost or in every stick-vacuum configuration.

Runtime and charging: read the qualifications
Shark Clean Australia lists 40 minutes in Standard mode, measured at the hand vacuum. That qualification matters: the number is not an independently verified runtime for a full-stick cleaning session, and Shark does not establish the same figure for other modes.
Shark’s sources also disagree on charging time. The Australian product specification table states 3.5 hours, while Shark APAC Support’s IZ102 FAQ, updated 1 May 2026, says a full charge takes approximately 3 hours. The available manufacturer information does not reconcile the difference, so check the manual or regional support information for your exact unit. Brushroll troubleshooting and hair care
Why isn’t the brushroll spinning?
Shark lists three possible causes: the vacuum is switched off, the handheld body has not been tilted back far enough, or the floor nozzle is blocked. Check that the vacuum is on and tilted into its cleaning position, then inspect the nozzle for an obstruction.

What if hair remains wrapped around the brushroll?
Shark advises continuing to vacuum on Carpet setting over a bare floor or low-pile rug to give the self-cleaning feature a chance to work. If fibers remain, switch the vacuum off and remove them carefully by hand. The self-cleaning design is not a guarantee that manual removal will never be needed.

Shark APAC Support recommends washing the pre-motor filters at least once a month and the post-motor/HEPA filter at least once a year. Heavy use may call for more frequent cleaning.
- Remove the filters according to the instructions for your unit.
- Rinse them with water only; Shark says not to use soap.
- Let them air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling. Do not put damp filters back into the vacuum.
Shark’s Australian listing describes the foam and HEPA filters as washable. Follow the instructions supplied with your regional model for removal and reinstallation.

What not to vacuum—and what to do if it overheats
Shark’s model-specific FAQ says not to use the IZ102 to pick up:
- Liquids.
- Large or sharp objects, including glass, nails or coins.
- Large quantities of dust, such as drywall ash.
- Smoking or flammable materials, including hot coals or gasoline.
If you suspect the vacuum has overheated, switch it off and allow it to cool for at least 45 minutes before restarting, as Shark advises.
Replacement parts and regional fit
Shark New Zealand directs IZ102 owners to its parts and accessories route, but the available information does not establish an exact replacement-battery SKU or cross-region compatibility. Before buying a battery, filter or attachment, match it to the precise IZ102 version sold in your region rather than assuming that parts listed for another market will fit. Who should consider the IZ102?
The published feature set may suit someone looking for a stick vacuum that converts to handheld use, has a removable battery and offers separate settings for hard floors, carpets and Boost. The small listed dust-cup capacity of 0.4 L and the need to wash and fully dry filters are practical ownership considerations.
There is not enough evidence here to rank the IZ102 against competing vacuums or to make independent claims about pickup, hair handling, real-world runtime or durability. For a buying decision, confirm current local availability, price, warranty and part compatibility with Shark in your region; the specifications above are Shark’s published Australian figures, not a region-wide guarantee.
