Shadow Rush Demo should run on a Windows PC that meets its published minimum of Windows 7, a 64-bit SSE2-capable processor, 4 GB of RAM, an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti, DirectX 9, and 200 MB of free storage. Those specifications are only a launch threshold. The developer has not published a recommended tier, target frame rate, tested resolutions, graphics presets, upscaling guidance, or benchmark results, so they cannot guarantee 30 or 60 frames per second.

The demo is free on Steam, released June 12, 2026, and listed as app 4366540 in SteamDB. This guide explains what the requirements mean, how to assess your own PC, how to tune whatever settings the demo exposes, and what is known about controller and Steam Deck support.

What Shadow Rush Demo is

Shadow Rush is an isometric hack-and-slash RPG built around rapid arena combat and build experimentation. The listed controls are WASD for movement, left-click for attacks, and right-click for a dash. Attacks and dashes cycle through four phases that activate equipped abilities. Runs use shards to shape a build, offer six selectable characters, and progress through arenas.

The demo is a digital Windows release and is free to download on Steam. SteamDB records its release on June 12, 2026, under app ID 4366540. The full game is planned for 2027; a report dated October 16, 2026 quotes solo developer Andrew Teo’s comfortable completion estimate as April 16, 2027. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed launch date.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Published minimum system requirements

These are the complete requirements shown on the Steam listing. No separate recommended specification is provided.

Component Minimum listed requirement How to interpret it
Operating system Windows 7 The game’s stated floor. Steam’s current client supports Windows 10 and later, so Windows 10 or Windows 11 is the practical baseline for installing through Steam.
Processor 64-bit CPU with SSE2 support The listing does not name a model, clock speed, core count, or generation.
Memory 4 GB RAM This is the game’s stated minimum, not a guarantee that Windows and other running programs will leave enough headroom for smooth play.
Graphics Nvidia GTX 750 Ti The listing gives no equivalent AMD, Intel, or newer-GPU guidance and no measured frame rate.
Graphics API DirectX 9 The published API requirement; it is not a promise that every modern driver configuration will behave identically.
Storage 200 MB available space Keep additional room for Steam’s download, temporary files, updates, and saved data.

A PC below one of these entries is outside the developer’s stated support floor. A PC above it may still need settings changes: the minimum block does not identify a resolution, preset, frame-rate target, or test conditions.

Can your PC run the demo?

Check the operating system and Steam client

Although Windows 7 appears in the game requirement, Steam’s own client note makes Windows 10 or later the realistic starting point for a current installation. If your machine uses Windows 10 or Windows 11, it satisfies the operating-system requirement on paper. Windows 7 may meet the game’s line but can present client, driver, or security limitations unrelated to the game itself.

Check whether the processor is 64-bit and supports SSE2

Look in Windows’ System Information or Settings > System > About for the system type and processor model. The listing requires a 64-bit CPU with SSE2 instructions. It does not state a minimum frequency or number of cores, so model-to-model performance cannot be inferred from the listing alone.

Check available memory

Open Task Manager and select the Performance tab to see installed memory and current usage. Four gigabytes is the published floor. Close browsers, launchers, recording tools, and other heavy applications before starting the demo if your system has little free memory. That is practical headroom advice, not a Shadow Rush benchmark.

Identify the graphics processor

Use Task Manager’s GPU entry, Device Manager, or a system-information utility to identify your graphics adapter. The only named floor is Nvidia’s GTX 750 Ti. The listing does not establish an equivalent for integrated graphics, older cards, or a particular AMD or Intel model; those systems should be treated as unverified rather than automatically supported or rejected.

Confirm DirectX and free storage

Run dxdiag in Windows to review installed DirectX components and display-driver information. Also verify at least 200 MB of free space on the drive used by Steam, with extra room for download and update operations. A full drive can prevent installation even when the game itself occupies little space.

What the requirements do—and do not—tell you about performance

The GTX 750 Ti and 4 GB RAM figures define a minimum launch target, not a measured performance profile. The official listing and SteamDB metadata do not publish a recommended tier, tested FPS, resolution, graphics-preset table, frame-time data, or upscaling recommendation. There is therefore no authoritative basis for promising 1080p, 60 FPS, a particular quality preset, or a specific result on Steam Deck.

Hardware substantially newer than the GTX 750 Ti is more likely to provide adjustment headroom, but the amount of headroom depends on resolution, effects, drivers, background load, and the demo build. Treat any FPS number found in an unofficial video or forum post as that user’s result, not as a specification.

How to tune performance safely

Because no official settings guide exists, use a repeatable process on your own machine. Record changes one at a time so you know which option helped.

  1. Start with a clean session. Restart Windows or close background launchers, browsers, capture software, and overlays. Connect the display you will actually use and set its normal refresh rate.
  2. Launch the demo and open its video or graphics menu. The published material does not enumerate the menu, so option names and availability may vary by build. Do not assume that a setting exists until you see it.
  3. Choose a conservative starting point. If the menu provides a resolution selector, begin at your monitor’s native resolution only when the image is already smooth; otherwise test a lower resolution. If it offers presets, start at the lowest preset and raise individual options later.
  4. Run a repeatable combat test. Fight in the same arena or encounter for several minutes, including movement, attacks, dashes, and ability effects. Look for stutter, input delay, and sudden drops during busy moments rather than judging from a quiet menu.
  5. Change one variable at a time. Lower resolution or heavy effects first if those controls exist. Relaunch after a change when the game requests it, then repeat the same combat sequence.
  6. Watch frame pacing, not only an average number. An on-screen counter can show an average FPS, but uneven frame times feel like hitching even when the average looks acceptable. If the demo offers a frame-rate cap or vertical synchronization, test it with your display and keep the combination that feels most consistent.
  7. Save a working profile. Write down resolution, preset, individual options, and any cap you selected. This makes it easier to restore a stable setup after a driver or game update.

If the demo exposes none of these controls, the only reliable choices are the defaults supplied by the build and the resolution options provided by your display or Windows. Do not edit configuration files unless the developer documents a supported method.

Steam Deck

Steam currently marks the demo’s Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown. SteamDB lists Windows as the supported system. That means there is no authoritative Deck profile, verified performance result, control layout, or battery expectation to rely on. A Deck owner may experiment, but a successful launch on one device or Proton version would not establish general compatibility.

Installing Windows on a Deck would align the operating-system family with the listing, but it still would not supply a tested frame rate or guarantee that every control and graphics path works. SteamOS results are even less certain because the published support entry names Windows only.

Troubleshooting common launch and performance problems

The game will not install

  • Confirm that the Steam client itself runs on a supported current Windows version.
  • Check that the target drive has more than the stated 200 MB, allowing space for download and temporary files.
  • Restart Steam and Windows, then retry the download.

The demo starts but runs poorly

  • Close memory-intensive applications and overlays.
  • Confirm that Windows is using the intended GPU rather than a low-power integrated adapter.
  • Lower the resolution or preset if the game offers those controls, then retest the same combat sequence.
  • Check for a frame-rate cap or vertical-sync option and compare frame pacing with it enabled and disabled.

Controls do not respond as expected

  • Reconnect the controller before launching and check Steam’s controller settings.
  • Test keyboard and mouse controls (WASD, left-click attack, right-click dash) to separate a controller-detection issue from a broader game problem.
  • Disconnect extra input devices temporarily if the game is reading the wrong controller.

Crashes or graphical errors occur

  • Update the graphics driver supplied for your GPU and restart Windows.
  • Verify the demo’s files through Steam’s installed-game properties.
  • Return graphics settings to their defaults and remove overlays or capture hooks before testing again.
  • If the issue persists, report the Windows version, GPU model, driver version, RAM, and exact reproduction steps to the developer; those details are more useful than a generic crash description.

How Shadow Rush compares on paper

The demo is unusually easy to screen for storage and memory because its listing gives exact minimum values, but it is difficult to predict visual quality because it omits a recommended tier and performance targets. For a fair comparison with another demo, use the same categories: minimum operating system and graphics API, CPU and RAM floor, GPU model, storage footprint, controller support, handheld compatibility status, and whether measured FPS or recommended specifications are published. Shadow Rush currently supplies only the minimum tier and controller information; the performance matrix is not stated.

What to expect from the project

Andrew Teo identifies himself on the official Steam Community page as the game’s solo developer. The current demo therefore represents an in-development project rather than a final performance guarantee. The stated full-game target is 2027, with April 16, 2027 described in an October 16, 2026 report as a comfortable estimate. Features, optimization, settings, and compatibility can change before completion, so recheck the Steam listing after major updates.
