Hindustan Times and India Today reported allegations that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded objections on at least 14 occasions over a 10-month period. That detail is an allegation reported by those outlets, not an independently established finding here.
The Election Commission’s reported response was that decisions—including those related to SIR—were made unanimously by the full three-member Commission. AP reported that the Commission disputed describing internal discussions as formal written objections, characterizing the reporting instead as reflecting differing views and deliberations. AP also reported that the Commission and government denied wrongdoing.

What is established—and what remains unproven?
Critics fear electoral-roll revisions could exclude eligible voters. The Commission says its stated aim is to remove duplicate and ineligible entries while retaining eligible voters. The reporting cited here does not establish a verified total of voters removed or prove that voter suppression occurred. The protest reflects the organizers’ allegations and demands, not an adjudicated finding of wrongdoing.
