To add multiple fingerprints on iPhone Duo, set a device passcode, then go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Add a Fingerprint and enroll each finger separately. Apple allows up to five saved fingerprints. Apple’s current instructions for unlocking an iPhone with Apple Watch apply to eligible Face ID models; they do not document Watch-assisted unlocking for Touch ID-equipped iPhone Duo.
How to add a fingerprint on iPhone Duo
Apple identifies Touch ID as being built into iPhone Duo’s side button. Before enrolling, make sure your finger and the sensor are clean and dry. You must create a device passcode before you can use Touch ID.

- Open Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and enter your device passcode.
- Tap Add a Fingerprint.
- Hold the iPhone the way you normally use it. Touch the side button without pressing it, then lift and rest your finger as the on-screen instructions prompt you.
- Make small adjustments to your finger’s position during enrollment. When prompted to adjust your grip, use the outer areas of the fingertip so the phone can capture more of the print.
- Follow the prompts until enrollment is complete. To add another finger, return to Touch ID & Passcode and choose Add a Fingerprint again.
Apple’s instructions are in its Touch ID setup guide; the device’s sensor placement is shown on the iPhone Duo product page.

How many fingers can you save?
Apple says you can enroll up to five fingerprints. Each print is added individually, and Apple notes that adding prints might make fingerprint recognition take slightly longer. You can use different fingers, or enroll a finger again if you want another saved entry for it.

Can Apple Watch unlock iPhone Duo?
Apple’s published Watch-assisted unlock instructions describe Face ID iPhones, not iPhone Duo’s Touch ID system. The available Apple documentation does not establish that an Apple Watch can unlock iPhone Duo, so do not treat Watch unlock as a Touch ID setting or as an alternative enrollment method.
