SES says Royal Brunei Airlines has completed installation of its RB SkyConnect inflight Wi-Fi system across its A320 fleet, with service available on all the airline’s A320 aircraft in operation across Asia-Pacific. The 1 October 2026 announcement describes a satellite system that combines geostationary (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) links; it does not disclose passenger prices, data allowances or measured speeds.
What the completion announcement confirms
SES announced on 1 October 2026 that installation of RB SkyConnect was complete across Royal Brunei Airlines’ A320 fleet. SES says the service is available on all A320 aircraft in operation across the Asia-Pacific region. That is the scope stated by SES; the announcement does not say that every scheduled flight will have Wi-Fi access or that the service is activated on every departure.
The release refers to Royal Brunei’s Airbus A320neo fleet, while the airline’s earlier announcement also identified the A320neo as the planned installation fleet. Royal Brunei’s 2026 fleet description lists seven Airbus A320NEOs alongside five Boeing 787-8s. The completion announcement does not say that the 787-8 fleet has RB SkyConnect.
How RB SkyConnect is described to work
SES describes RB SkyConnect as a multi-orbit satellite system combining GEO and LEO links. Its electronically steered array (ESA) antenna dynamically connects to the strongest available network, according to SES. In practical terms, GEO and LEO refer to satellites operating in different orbits; the announcement does not provide a technical breakdown of when the aircraft would use either link.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
SES characterizes the system as providing stable, uninterrupted connectivity across Royal Brunei’s route network and served territories, including China and India. That is the provider’s description, not an independent measurement or a guarantee of uninterrupted service on an individual flight.
How the rollout follows the 2025 Intelsat announcement
On 3 June 2025, Royal Brunei announced that it had selected Intelsat to provide multi-orbit connectivity for its A320neo fleet, with installation expected to begin in Q4 2025. The airline’s announcement described a planned ESA antenna less than seven centimeters tall and a system designed to connect to GEO and LEO satellites. Those were descriptions of the planned equipment, not measurements of passenger service after deployment.

The 2026 completion announcement names SES as the provider, while the 2025 selection announcement names Intelsat. The two releases establish that chronology but do not explain the contractual or corporate transition, so they do not support a more specific account of what changed.
What passengers still need to check
Neither official announcement states whether Wi-Fi is free or paid, what data limits or supported applications apply, which devices are supported, or whether access is enabled on a particular flight. They also publish no speed guarantee, independent speed or uptime results, or passenger-use figures. Check Royal Brunei’s current passenger information or contact the airline for the terms applicable to a specific itinerary.

What the companies say about the rollout
Royal Brunei CEO Colonel Norsuriati binti Haji Sharbini called the completed installation an “important milestone” in improving the guest experience through technology. SES Senior Vice President Aviation Blane Boynton described the deployment as evidence of the “speed and scalability” of SES’s inflight connectivity solutions. These are company perspectives, not independent assessments of the service.
Boynton also said Royal Brunei was SES’s first APAC airline to install its latest multi-orbit ESA product, and forecast that five additional APAC airlines would install the system by the end of 2027. The latter is a forward-looking company statement, not a count of completed deployments.
