Which stocks gained and which lagged?

In its October 5 Sensex summary, Suresh Rathi Securities listed ITC (+4.49%), Eternal (+2.50%), Bharti Airtel (+2.38%) and Bajaj Finance (+2.28%) among the gainers. HCL Technologies, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, Infosys and Asian Paints were reported among the laggards. These are Sensex constituent moves for that session, not a ranking of every stock traded in India.

An earlier update from Suresh Rathi Securities at 14:40 on October 5 put the Sensex at 72,302.69, up 392.99 points (0.55%), and the Nifty at 22,555.2, up 133.25 points (0.59%). That report listed ITC at ₹268.25 (+4.38%) and Bajaj Finance at ₹971 (+2.28%) among the Sensex gainers. Those prices and moves are specific to that update, not closing prices.

What reports said was behind the rebound

India Today described the rise as a recovery after an extended weekly losing streak. It cited softer US jobs data, lower expectations of aggressive Federal Reserve tightening and easing crude prices as supportive factors. These were the report’s explanations for the market context, not proof that any one factor caused the session’s gains.

Why these figures should not be called live

The supported market figures in this update refer to October 5. A separate October 7 page showed different index levels, but the figures available here do not have sufficient exchange attribution to present them as verified. For a live market snapshot, check a timestamped update backed by exchange data; the session date and time matter when comparing index levels, ranges or stock movers.
