The company is also presenting itself at creator, talent and brand events, but the public evidence supports marketing outreach—not a confirmed formal campaign to recruit marketers or a published affiliate program.
What Brick is selling
Brick combines a small physical device with an app. Instead of relying only on a setting buried in a phone, the user creates a block in the app, activates it by tapping the phone on Brick, and rescans the device to reconnect. The intended benefit is deliberate physical friction: checking a distracting app requires an extra action and access to the Brick.

Brick describes modes for deep work, family time, training, creative time, study, social time and sleep. The concept is not to abandon a smartphone. Calls, navigation, work tools and other useful functions can remain part of a phone-based life while selected sources of automatic checking are restricted.
The company’s current compatibility statement lists Android 12.0 or later and iOS 18.0 or later. Software requirements can change, so buyers should verify the version shown on the product page before ordering.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How does Brick work?
- Select what to block. In the Brick app, choose distracting apps and configure a mode for the situation.
- Tap to activate. Touch the phone to the Brick device to begin the block.
- Use the phone within the chosen limits. The selected apps remain restricted while the mode is active.
- Return to Brick to reconnect. Tapping the phone on the physical device restores access.
Brick says the hardware has no battery to charge and that one Brick can be used with multiple phones. Those are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results.
Does Brick actually stop scrolling?
It can make impulsive scrolling less automatic, but the available evidence does not establish a universal effect. Brick says a survey of more than 3,500 users found that 95% or more felt less distracted, 93% or more felt more focused and 99% or more reduced their screen time. The company does not state the survey date, recruitment method, question wording, baseline, or calculation on the cited product page, so these figures should be read as vendor-reported results.

Brick’s support material asks whether people reach for a phone immediately after waking, when bored, or when notifications interrupt another task. It also states, “We spend an average of four hours a day on our phones — that’s nearly 60 full days a year.” The page does not identify a study or method for that number; it is an unattributed company statement, not an independently verified population statistic.

A Marie Claire UK writer who used Brick for about a month reported feeling more focused and present while switching among custom work and social modes. She also described work situations that required social-media access and therefore required her to unbrick the phone. That is a personal account, not a controlled test of productivity, sleep or health.

Is Brick different from Screen Time?
Brick’s marketing contrasts a physical rescan with built-in screen-time controls that a user may be able to override in software. That is the company’s positioning, not proof that Apple Screen Time or Android Digital Wellbeing always fail or that Brick is objectively more effective.
The practical distinction is the type of commitment involved:

No head-to-head trial in the available material shows Brick outperforming the alternatives.

Why the “recruits marketers” angle needs care
Brick’s public company posts describe attendance at Cannes Lions, connections with talent and creators through United Talent Agency, and activations associated with OpenAI and Gamma at Cannes, plus Willpower and Billboard activity around SXSW and events during New York Tech Week. The company page also includes a solicitation for a freelance graphic designer.
These examples show an effort to reach people and organizations close to advertising, media and the attention economy. They do not establish a formal marketer-recruitment drive, paid creator terms, an affiliate network or an open marketing job. “Recruits marketers” is therefore best understood as a description of Brick courting the marketing and creator ecosystem, not proof of a documented hiring or referral program.
The bigger digital-wellbeing question
A 2025 Journal of Macromarketing analysis examined 320 digital-wellbeing market offerings, including apps, blocking tools, tangible products such as Faraday cages and simplified phones, retreats and information products. The study describes the category as a negotiation between technology’s productive and distracting sides. These interventions can give individuals more control, while also shifting responsibility for attention problems onto consumers instead of addressing the incentives that produce endless engagement.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Brick fits that middle ground. Its promise is not that smartphones are inherently harmful or that a gadget can redesign the attention economy. It offers a deliberately inconvenient pause for people who want to keep the useful parts of a smartphone while making selected habits harder to perform automatically.
Who is likely to benefit—and who may struggle
Potentially useful for
- People whose main problem is reflexively opening a known set of apps.
- Students, families or teams that can agree on a mode before study, meals or shared time.
- Users who want a physical cue rather than another notification or dashboard.
Possible friction points
- Jobs that require unpredictable access to social networks or messaging may force frequent unbricking.
- Anyone who routinely carries several phones should confirm how multi-phone use works in their setup.
- A commitment device cannot remove every distraction, and it does not address the design incentives of the services being blocked.
Bottom line
Brick is a physical commitment device with a companion app, priced on its storefront at $59 for the device and $39 for a case, with a stated 30-day money-back guarantee. Its strongest differentiator is the need to tap the phone on hardware to start or end a block. The company’s survey numbers and marketing activity are worth reporting with attribution, but they are not independent efficacy evidence, and public posts about creators and brands do not yet prove a formal marketer-recruitment or affiliate program.
