Kickoff was scheduled for 1:25 p.m. PDT on October 4, 2026, at Lumen Field, with CBS carrying the game.
What is at stake for Seattle and Los Angeles?
Seattle’s loss in Washington ended a 12-game overall winning streak, according to the Seahawks’ October 2 preview. The team also reported that its eight-game home winning streak remained active entering this game. That makes Lumen Field an important setting for a response, not a guarantee of one.

For Los Angeles, the immediate goal was simpler: turn a winless 0-3 start into a first victory. Chargers offensive lineman Joe Alt described the team’s focus as putting together a complete performance: “We all just want to put a complete game together as an entire team.” He added, “The mindset right now is getting better, honing in on the details and just putting that game together. We’re chasing a win. It’s whatever we can do to get a win.” Both comments appeared in the Chargers’ October 2 preview.

This game’s central question was whether Seattle could keep getting the ball to its productive receiver; the available previews did not establish a specific Chargers coverage matchup or scheme plan.
Leonard Williams against Chargers protection
Seattle’s October 2 preview said defensive lineman Leonard Williams had three sacks and five tackles for loss through three games, leading the Seahawks in both categories. It also noted that Los Angeles had allowed three sacks in each of its two preceding games. That sets up a pass-rush-versus-protection storyline, but it does not establish how many sacks either team would record on Sunday.

Coaching familiarity
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald had previously worked for Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh is also the father of Seattle special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh. Macdonald called Los Angeles “a really good football team,” and emphasized that three games are a small sample; he described the Chargers as talented, well-coached, tough, physical and sound. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, meanwhile, said of Seattle: “There’s a reason they are the defending Super Bowl champions.” These were pregame comments in the teams’ October 2 previews.
