Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteShort answer: Screenshotlayer and Screenshot Machine are both hosted APIs for capturing webpages, but their documented strengths differ. Screenshotlayer emphasizes URL-to-image capture, custom CSS, S3 or FTP delivery on upper tiers, and worker capacity; Screenshot Machine documents more page-level controls, including selector clicks, element capture, cookies, and cropping. Neither has been shown here to render faster or more faithfully. For a third option to evaluate first, ScreenshotNeo combines consent-banner and popup removal with billing only for clean shots.
How the APIs differ
Both services accept a webpage URL and return an image capture. The useful distinction is the work your application needs the service to do before and after rendering. These are vendor-documented features, not independent tests of output quality or speed.
| Area | Screenshotlayer | Screenshot Machine |
|---|---|---|
| Request and delivery | URL-based capture API; describes CDN delivery and image URLs. | HTTP GET API at https://api.screenshotmachine.com/; returns image responses. |
| Capture controls | Viewport and dimensions, full-height captures, custom CSS, delay, cache lifetime or refresh, user-agent and Accept-Language headers. | Dimensions or full-page capture, device modes, delay, cache age, zoom, selector click/hide, cookies, language and user-agent headers, element capture, and rectangular crop. |
| Formats documented | PNG, JPEG, and GIF; paid plans advertise WebP support. | JPG, PNG, and GIF. |
| Storage and export | Professional and Enterprise list S3 or FTP export. | The API returns images that your application can download, store, or link to. |
| Capacity model | Monthly snapshot allowances and plan-specific dedicated workers; overages apply after quota. | Monthly fresh-capture allowance; cached impressions are described as unlimited and not billed as fresh captures. |
Which one fits your capture workflow?
Consider Screenshotlayer when
- Your integration is a straightforward URL-to-image flow and its documented viewport, full-height, custom CSS, delay, and cache controls cover the page behavior you need.
- You need S3 or FTP export and are evaluating Professional or Enterprise, the tiers that list those options.
- Your workload benefits from the plan’s stated worker count. Screenshotlayer describes each dedicated worker as a server entity that captures one screenshot at a time; that is a capacity description, not evidence of a particular response time.
- Its USD plan structure and snapshot allowance suit your expected monthly volume.
Consider Screenshot Machine when
- You need to click, hide, or capture an element using a CSS selector, or crop a rectangular portion of the result.
- Your captures depend on cookies or custom headers, or you need its documented device modes and zoom control.
- The fresh-versus-cached billing model fits your traffic pattern and you prefer to assess its EUR plans.
Choose based on your own pages, not a speed claim
The reviewed official documentation does not establish that either service is faster, more accurate, or more reliable than the other. For a meaningful decision, run both against the same representative URLs and viewports, including dynamic content, consent banners, long pages, and mobile layouts. Record fidelity, completion time, errors, cache behavior, rate handling, integration work, and the resulting invoice model. If URLs, cookies, or captured pages are sensitive, ask each vendor how those inputs and outputs are handled before sending them.
Published plans and pricing
The following are the values shown on the vendors’ official pricing pages when checked on October 3, 2026. Screenshotlayer prices are in USD and Screenshot Machine prices are in EUR; exchange rates, tax, overages, and plan terms prevent a direct price ranking. Confirm availability and checkout terms before committing.
| Service and plan | Displayed monthly price | Included captures | Other listed terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screenshotlayer Free | $0 | 100 snapshots/month | Listed for non-commercial use. |
| Screenshotlayer Basic | $19.99 | 10,000 snapshots/month | 10 dedicated workers. |
| Screenshotlayer Professional | $59.99 | 30,000 snapshots/month | 20 dedicated workers; S3 or FTP export listed. |
| Screenshotlayer Enterprise | $149.99 | 75,000 snapshots/month | 40 dedicated workers; S3 or FTP export listed. |
| Screenshot Machine Starter | Free | 100 fresh screenshots/month | Cached captures are described as not counting as fresh captures. |
| Screenshot Machine Basic | €9 | 2,500 fresh screenshots/month | €0.004 per additional screenshot. |
| Screenshot Machine Pro | €59 | 20,000 fresh screenshots/month | €0.003 per additional screenshot. |
| Screenshot Machine Enterprise | €99 | 50,000 fresh screenshots/month | €0.002 per additional screenshot. |
Screenshotlayer advertises WebP on paid plans and says annual billing can reduce the total by up to 15%; verify the actual checkout price and overage terms. Its pricing page describes API uptime as “around 99.9%” and says it does not offer public statistics for that figure, so treat it as the vendor’s statement rather than an audited measure. Screenshotlayer pricing.
Screenshot Machine says additional captures are billed in groups of 1,000 rounded down, cached captures are not billed as fresh captures, and EU VAT may apply to non-business customers. Its plans list a 99.99% uptime SLA; check the applicable plan terms and eligibility. Screenshot Machine pricing.

Integration and production checks
Before routing live traffic through either API, build a small proof of concept around the exact inputs your application will send. Screenshot Machine documents that errors may arrive as an error image with an X-Screenshotmachine-Response header, including codes for invalid URL, missing key, no credits, invalid selector, and system error. Do not assume that every image response is a valid page capture: inspect response headers and content and surface failures to monitoring. Its error behavior is documented at the API reference.
- Test static and dynamic pages, including one with a consent banner and one with a long or lazy-loaded page.
- Verify image format, dimensions, crop or element behavior, and whether your desired cache age produces acceptably fresh content.
- Measure completion time and error rate at your expected request pattern rather than extrapolating from plan capacity or vendor uptime statements.
- Estimate monthly fresh requests and cache hits separately, then reconcile the estimate with each provider’s quota and overage rules.
- Review how target URLs, cookies, headers, and captured page contents are handled if they can expose private or customer data.
