From individual tickets to market intelligence
Each point-of-sale transaction can include product, quantity, price, timing and location details. Scanntech processes this ticket-level information into views of what is selling, where demand is changing and how shoppers respond to pricing or promotions. Those outputs are designed to help retailers operate stores and inventory more effectively while giving brands and distributors a closer view of sell-out activity.
Scanntech says its direct POS connections capture and process daily ticket-level transaction data representing more than 80% of retail sell-out in the markets where it operates. That is a company-reported coverage figure; it is not a claim that the platform covers 80% of all Latin American retail or every country equally.

Why direct POS data is strategically important
Greater detail than sampled measurement
Ticket-level feeds can show actual purchases at a granular level, including product and basket behavior. This differs from estimates based on sampled stores, delayed reports or consumer recollection. The practical value depends on the consistency, quality and representativeness of the connected retailers.

Scanntech says the new capital will support several connected priorities:
- Geographic expansion: extend the company’s presence into additional markets beyond its existing Latin American footprint.
- Product innovation: develop and broaden tools built on the company’s retail transaction network.
- More analytics and AI: add analytical and artificial-intelligence capabilities to help customers extract value from transaction data.
- New markets and consumer categories: apply the platform to additional retail segments and categories.
- AI-powered customer solutions: create products intended to improve the value delivered to retailers, brands and distributors.
The announcement does not specify a country-by-country expansion schedule, individual product launches or how the financing will be divided among these initiatives.

Scanntech co-founder and chief executive officer Raúl Polakof said the company has grown by giving retailers and consumer-goods companies “the clarity to act faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.”

Tiago Andrade, head of private equity and growth equity in Latin America at Partners Group, said Scanntech had built a “hard-to-replicate data network and an intelligence platform that delivers tangible value for customers.” These are investor and management assessments, not independently measured results disclosed with the financing.
What has not been disclosed
The Series F announcement does not disclose Scanntech’s transaction valuation, revenue, profitability, customer count, employee total or a country-by-country breakdown of operations. The $180 million figure therefore indicates the size of the financing, not the company’s valuation or annual sales.
The announcement also does not state whether the round included a secondary share sale, the exact ownership stakes acquired by investors, or a timetable for deploying the funds. Those details would be needed to assess dilution, valuation and the financial impact on existing shareholders.

Retailers and brands increasingly want measurement closer to the checkout rather than broad market estimates alone. Scanntech’s model combines direct POS connectivity, daily transaction processing and analytics for multiple participants in the retail supply chain. If the company expands its network while preserving data quality and privacy controls, additional coverage could make its insights more useful across categories and markets.
The financing gives Scanntech resources to pursue that expansion and to add AI-driven products. Whether those investments produce faster growth or measurable customer outcomes will depend on execution, adoption and the company’s ability to turn a large transaction network into reliable recommendations.
