Check the specific reasons shown on your report, correct any inaccurate information you can verify, and use ScamAdviser’s profile-claim and review process to submit evidence. The result may change, but no review can guarantee a higher score or removal.
What a low ScamAdviser score does—and does not—mean
ScamAdviser describes its Trust Score as an automated guide assembled from multiple signals. Its FAQ names factors such as technical setup, customer feedback, location and contact details. The company says it uses more than 40 data sources, including information such as server IP, contact details, domain age and review ratings; that figure comes from its undated About Us page.

A low score means the signals available to the service raised concerns. It is not, by itself, proof that a business is fraudulent or that its owner has done anything wrong. ScamAdviser itself says the score is a guide, and acknowledges that false positives can occur. A score is also dynamic: it can change as information changes.

Why might my website be marked as a scam?
Several signals can contribute to a low result. They are possibilities to compare with your report, not proof of wrongdoing:
- A new domain or limited history: A recently registered domain may have less established information available for assessment.
- WHOIS privacy: Private registration details can make ownership information less visible.
- Shared hosting: A site’s hosting environment may be one of the technical signals considered.
- Few independent reviews or low traffic: Limited public feedback or visitor data may provide fewer trust signals.
- A non-standard top-level domain: Some domain endings may be treated as a risk indicator.
These factors can apply to legitimate businesses. Check whether the report actually highlights any of them before deciding what to address.
How to dispute a ScamAdviser score
Work from the report’s specific claims and submit evidence that can be checked. ScamAdviser’s explainer says site owners can claim a profile, review the score highlights and provide verifiable evidence for manual review.
- Save the report. Copy the exact report URL and record the score and its positive and negative highlights. Scores may change, so this gives you a reference for the result you are disputing.
- Check the underlying facts. Compare the report’s details with your verifiable business records, contact information, domain information and independent review presence. Note which claims are inaccurate, incomplete or simply not established.
- Claim your site profile. Use ScamAdviser’s site-owner process to claim the profile and submit relevant evidence for review. If you need help with that process, use ScamAdviser’s contact route.
- Keep the submission focused. Address the report highlights with documentation that supports your claims. A general objection to the score is less useful than evidence tied to specific details.
ScamAdviser says business verification and review are free. Do not pay a third party who claims they can alter your Trust Score; the company warns that such payment offers are fraudulent.
Which route fits your problem?
A score dispute, a request to remove unlawful content and a buyer’s complaint are separate issues with different processes.
| Issue | What to do | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate or disputed Trust Score | Claim the profile, review the report highlights and submit verifiable evidence through ScamAdviser’s owner process or contact route. | A review does not guarantee a higher score or removal. |
| Content you believe is unlawful | Use ScamAdviser’s Notice and Take Down Procedure and provide supporting evidence. | Negative content alone is not grounds for removal. ScamAdviser says the procedure requires an allegation of manifest unlawfulness. |
| A purchase, delivery or refund complaint | Contact the merchant and, where appropriate, your payment provider. | ScamAdviser says it does not own the websites it reviews and cannot resolve purchase complaints directly. |
What to expect after submitting evidence
ScamAdviser may review the information you provide, but there is no guaranteed outcome. The score can change when new information becomes available, and a corrected business detail does not necessarily settle every signal included in the assessment. Keep your report reference and submission records so you can track what you asked the service to review.
