There is no single confirmed cause for Indian news websites as a group; the right fix depends on the page, browser, and extension settings.
First check whether the images are missing on the page or only in the saved file
Open the article normally and look for the missing images before saving. Reload the page and give it time to finish loading. If an image does not appear on the live page, Save Page WE cannot reliably include it in the archive. If it appears live but disappears from the saved HTML file, focus on lazy loading, save settings, or a browser or site resource problem.

Also note whether the missing pictures are near the top of the article or farther down. Images that appear only after you scroll or wait may be loaded on demand rather than with the initial page content.

Enable lazy-content and lazy-image loading
Save Page WE has separate controls for loading lazy content and loading lazy images already present in the page. Check both: enabling one does not mean the other is enabled.

- Open Save Page WE’s options from your browser’s extensions menu. The exact route to extension options varies by browser.
- Enable Load lazy content before saving. The extension offers Scroll Page and Shrink Page methods for this step.
- Enable Load lazy images in existing content before saving.
- Return to the article, reload it, wait for the content to render, and save it again.
These controls are good first checks when pictures load only after scrolling or when scripts add content after the initial page load. If the labels in your installed version differ, look for the corresponding lazy-content and lazy-image settings in that version’s options.
Give slow articles time and check what the extension is saving
Some pages display text before their images arrive. Save Page WE provides a delay-before-saving setting and configurable lazy-loading timing controls. Try a short delay and repeat the capture; there is no one delay that works for every site.

Review the selected saved-item mode as well. Save Page WE distinguishes Basic, Standard, and Custom modes. Check the active mode and inspect any warning or unsaved-resource list shown after saving. If the extension reports an image or other resource it could not save, that is useful evidence that the issue is not simply that the picture was overlooked in the page.
Isolate browser and extension interference
If the live page shows an image but the saved archive does not, test whether another part of your browser setup is affecting the page:

- Try the same article in another browser. Keep the article URL and, where possible, the Save Page WE version the same. If the result changes, the problem may be browser-specific.
- Temporarily disable other extensions, one at a time. Content blockers and extensions that modify pages can interfere with page scripts or resources. Repeat the save after each targeted test.
- Check site tracking protection as a targeted test. Protection features can occasionally make a site behave incorrectly. If changing protection settings resolves the issue, restore your usual protections after identifying the cause and adjust only what is necessary for that site.
- Check whether JavaScript is being blocked. An extension or security software can prevent scripts from running, which may stop a page’s content or images from appearing.
- Clear the site’s stored data only if simpler tests fail. A site-data problem can affect how a page displays; reload the article after clearing it.
Change one thing at a time so you can tell which test made a difference. Re-enable any extension or protection you disabled if it was not responsible.
When the website may be serving an unusable image
A site-side delivery problem is worth considering when browser diagnostics or the extension’s resource warning point to a failed image request. One documented edge case is a real image returned with the incorrect Content-Type: text/html header together with X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff. In that situation, the browser may block the response because it is labelled as HTML rather than an image. The website operator would need to correct the response headers.

This is a possible failure mode, not evidence that any particular Indian news publisher has this problem. Do not assume the site is misconfigured unless the failed response or diagnostics support that conclusion.
Do not assume WebP or AVIF is the cause
WebP and AVIF are modern image formats. Their presence alone does not explain why Save Page WE omitted an image, and the available evidence does not establish that either format generally causes this problem. First check whether the image loads live, whether lazy loading is enabled, and whether the browser reports a failed resource.
