Its thicker PWRRUN+ platform adds cushioning, but the change comes with more weight and a stiffer feel than the Ride 18. If you want a protective, steady shoe for ordinary training, it is worth considering; if you prize a lighter, nimbler ride, the predecessor may suit you better.
What changed from the Ride 18?
The Ride 19’s central update is a thicker PWRRUN+ cushioning platform. RunRepeat’s 2026 lab review measured a 38.7 mm heel stack and 30.2 mm forefoot stack, for an 8.5 mm drop. Running Shoes Guru lists 38 mm and 30 mm stack heights with an 8 mm drop, illustrating that published figures can vary by source and measurement basis.

That extra platform is not a weight-free change. In RunRepeat’s lab comparison, the Ride 19 weighed 278 g (9.8 oz), versus 255 g (9.0 oz) for the Ride 18. The same lab recorded a 19.1 N flexibility-test reading for the Ride 19, 73% greater than the Ride 18 in its comparison. Those are lab results, not a universal measure of how every runner will experience the shoes.

RTINGS describes the Ride 19 as more cushioned and bouncier than earlier versions, while Running Shoes Guru reports a bulkier shoe with a stiffer forefoot and less nimbleness than the Ride 18. Believe in the Run includes positive impressions but also notes that the platform can feel cloggy. The practical tradeoff is added protection and a broader, steadier platform against extra weight and reduced agility.

How does it run, and who is it for?
Easy and recovery runs
Running Shoes Guru describes the Ride 19 as a stable daily trainer best suited to easy and recovery runs. That is the clearest fit for its cushioned, substantial character: routine road mileage where comfort matters more than a quick turnover.
Faster workouts
Believe in the Run says marathon-pace segments are possible, but its reviewers would choose a lighter shoe for dedicated speedwork. That is a reviewer preference, not a hard performance limit. Runners who want one shoe to handle varied training should weigh that flexibility against the Ride 19’s extra mass and stiffness.

Roads and light trails
TechRadar’s reviewer reports using the Ride 19 on roads and some light trails. That hands-on account supports occasional light-trail use, not a claim that the shoe is a dedicated trail model.

Fit and upper
TechRadar reports a roomy toe box, a secure gusseted tongue and a breathable upper, and identifies the shoe as suitable for neutral-gait runners. Fit is personal, so treat those as one reviewer’s observations rather than a guarantee. Try your usual size if possible, and check the retailer listing for the men’s or women’s sizing system and available width before ordering.

Ride 19, Ride 18 or Guide 19?
| Model | Best reason to consider it | Tradeoff or distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Saucony Ride 19 | More cushioning for everyday neutral training; RunRepeat measured 278 g (9.8 oz) and 38.7/30.2 mm stack. | RunRepeat measured it 23 g (0.8 oz) heavier than the Ride 18 and recorded greater stiffness in its flexibility comparison. |
| Saucony Ride 18 | A lighter predecessor for runners who preferred the older Ride’s less substantial character; RunRepeat measured it at 255 g (9.0 oz). | It does not have the Ride 19’s updated, thicker PWRRUN+ platform. |
| Saucony Guide 19 | RTINGS describes it as the option with CenterPath guidance for runners seeking more support. | It is a support-oriented alternative rather than the neutral Ride model. |
These distinctions are reasons to try a shoe, not a ranking for every runner. Your preferred cushion level, tolerance for weight and stiffness, fit, training pace and price matter more than the generation number alone.

- Check the size system, width, colorway and seller details; availability can differ between listings.
- If possible, compare the fit and ride directly with the Ride 18, especially if you are sensitive to added weight or forefoot stiffness.
